  4. the letter I sent is also informational to you guys as well. My contact information is on the bottom of the letter if you need more info or would like to pass it on -----> Coach Taggart, first I’d like to welcome you to the USF family and honestly tell you, I’ve heard a lot of good things about you. It is definitely as much of a loss for the toppers as it is a tremendous gain for us, and I hope your transition to USF runs as smooth as possible. My name is Jason Hubbard (a.k.a. “Mutt†to my friends) and for the past eight years I have worked on continuing just one of the many traditions of USF in the form of a “meet and greet†called the BULLS RALLY in Pinellas county. This fan-based, "grass roots" movement generates excitement in the surrounding community for the upcoming football season, creates enthusiasm for the University, and produces new BULLS fans. The event is always free to the public as they are invited to join other BULLS fans for an appearance by the head coach (you) and supporting staff, watch the previous season's video highlights, peruse and buy the latest BULLS merchandise from Bulls Outfitter, enjoy food and drink specials from Capogna’s Dugout, play games, and win prizes. In the past we have had representatives from ticket sales, the Bulls Club, the USF Alumni Association, Iron Bulls, Bullioneers, Bull Backers, the Herd of Thunder, Sundolls, USF cheer squad and Rocky the Bull show up to support the event. So, What I’m asking is if you could keep the tradition rolling! Both coach Leavitt and Holtz understood the importance of connecting with the public and realized that in a program as young as ours, it is imperative to put the face with the name (so to speak). Generally, it’s a laid back forum where the coach would show up and speak about the direction of the program, take questions from the crowd and sign autographs for a couple of hours. Over the total of years we’ve connected with thousands of fans for USF football, creating new season ticket owners, USF athletic contribution groups and Alumni members. Last year we’ve had 350 people show up to the event (during a losing season), but we’ve had over 500 attend to events in the past. I’m sure with the excitement of you taking charge, we might set a new record. Now, I’d imagine your schedule would be crazy this summer but if you could find a couple of hours on a Saturday before the start of the football season, we will build the event around you and the time you can spare. So, if you accept this invitation to the biggest fan-based USF celebration in the nation, or would like more information on the 8th Annual BULLS RALLY, Please contact me at usfmutt@hotmail.com . Enthusiasm is contagious, let’s do this! And GO BULLS! -Mutt
  5. Sent my letter to Coach Taggert today about the 8th annual BULLSRALLY (a,k,a, Preseason Tailgate).... Hopefully he responds so we can keep this thing rolling ! Go Bulls!

  7. are we actually 0-9 Thursday nights... egad.
  8. thats a good point and i think most people understand it wont happen for 5 or maybe even 10 years.... but i think its time for everyone to accept the realities and facts that we NEED one. the people that say they like at rayjay and we don't need one... go to an away game, walk around campus on game day and you will see other places... its an all day event with tons of buzz on campus and tons of alumni flooding back onto campus Two things about your last statement... One, most of the other schools we play have history, What do we have? Tradition? No, we don't. As fans, we can't even collectively get sound off our own kickoff. Who sings the alma mater? We're still in short pants when it comes to the whole football experience to begin with. It's true if we win, they will come, no matter where we play. If you have a good product, people will buy it, But we as fans have to make an experience for the neophytes who show up. Enthusiasm is contagious, If we make a great atmosphere for every game, people will want to be a part of it. Two, the other is Alumni, USF doesn't have what it takes to keep Alumni coming back. look and see how many million dollar Alumni donate to USF compared to uf or fsu... It's laughable. We do have a handful of contributors and they are greatly appreciated, but even homecoming gets worse every year. USF needs to make Alums feel that they are the backbone of the athletics program which they don't. I know that there is a division between the AA and Athletics but USF needs to see which side their bread is buttered. The Alumni should instill pride in their school to everyone they meet. I personally know Alums from other schools who don't miss any game, nonetheless homecoming... USF has to create a greater demand for the program, and for us at this time, winning is the only option.
  9. Mr. Robinson, I will have your personal concierge "Remington" ready for you with a chilled glass of swill and your smoking jacket upon your arrival. Please excuse our valet "Rico" for not attending to your 73 Pinto properly, but at the time, he felt that you were a vagabond looking for a handout. I have talked to him about this issue and am reassured this will not happen in the future. Also, rest assured, that the pluming is regularly working again (after your last mishap) and the plungers at Capogna's have been upgraded. Again, it's always a pleasure to receive your patronage and I look forward to seeing you Saturday. Sincerely, The Management

  13. Thanks for all of you who showed up yesterday, I think everyone had a good time after all technical glitches were fixed. Things didn't fully run as planned, but after a few beers,it really didn't matter much. Coach Holtz was awesome as always, a big thanks to swamprat, Wolfman and BDYZR for keeping me sane during chaos. Extra thanx to Craig from Bulls Outfitter , Eric, Bulls Club, SBC, cheerleaders, and the Iron Bulls! Hope you'll come back next year. Please post what you liked/disliked so I can make it better for next year! Go BULLS!
  14. I'll ask my wife to take some! SATURDAY!
  15. I recently heard that E.T. had a problem with his ticker earlier this week... Much love to him and his family, get better soon.
  16. Willy Billy, spell predictor on my phone is a *****. Please forgive.
  17. Seriously considering of changing the name of the Preseason tailgate to the BULLSRALLY. I think the name is more direct and it'll associate the party to USF without explaining which the tailgate is for... also I don't want to mislead people that they'd be outside in their own vehicles and such. It'll stay the same for this year (so not to confuse) but I'll announce it at the event for next year. A big thanks (as always) to Swamprat for thinking.
  18. The Preseason Tailgate is a month away ant I'm pleading to all of you for help. I need some audio visual people to lead me in the right direction.what I'd like to do is put coach Holt's on all of the television sets during his speech to the audience so everyone can hear and see him. I can get a video camera and I have one DVD player that I plug into the cable system but how can I make that work? Do I need a microphone? A Soundboard? I'd also like to get an A/B switch to run two DVD players to make a smoother transition between multiple DVDs. Any help would be graetly appreciated. Email me at usfmutt@hotmail.com. thanx and Go BULLS!
  19. If E.T. shows up, you know it's a party...
  20. Joe, we did shirts once and we had to eat many of them after the event... If I have enough $$ to put up front personally, i'll do something other than the mugs, but i'm not sure exactly what. I love the idea of having something but maybe buttons or patches or something I can afford out of pocket before hand so if I don't sell all of them, it won't be a financial disaster. -mutt
  21. Sorry man, I got a new phone so I got a new account and can't find it... Try usfmutt@hotmail.com Thx -mutt
  22. the 7th Annual USF Preseason Tailgate party is scheduled for July 28th from 4 to 8 PM at Capogna’s Dugout (1653 Gulf to Bay Blvd. Clearwater 727-441-4791). For the past six years, this fan-based “grass roots†movement generates excitement in the surrounding community for the upcoming football season and creates new fans and season ticket holders. The event is always free to the public, and you are invited to join other BULLS fans for an appearance by head coach Skip Holtz, watch last season’s video highlights, buy merchandise from Bulls Outfitter, play games, and win prizes. In the past we have had representatives from ticket sales, the Bulls Club, the USF Alumni Association, the Herd of Thunder, cheer squad and even Rocky the Bull show up to support the event. If you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please post here or email usfmutt@hotmail.com -mutt For those who need an explanation. It started as a joke between a few friends on how we could get the BULLS football highlight tape to watch in the off-season. This idea however started to gain popularity between the truly insane BULLS fanatics out there so we decided to have a party at the same place we watch the BULLS during football season watch parties (Capogna's Dugout). We had some friends who worked in the Athletic Department (to get the tape) and since we would watch it in the summer It turned into the "Preseason Tailgate". This little party of friends turned into an annual event that has seen thousands of BULLS fans over the years (we've had people drive from Orlando and Fort Myers before) Every year I invite The Head Coach of USF football to come out and speak and take questions about the upcoming season (Coach Holtz is a helluva speaker btw). Capogna's has food and drink specials and lets me sell beer mugs for $10 that they fill for $2 (believe me you'll like them), Craig from BULLS Outfitter comes by and sets up the latest in BULLS merchandise, In the past we've had reps from Bulls Club, Season Ticket sales, and USF Alumni. We've had the Herd of Thunder, Cheerleaders and Sundolls, Rocky, Ex football players (and others), We've had a book signing from ex B-Ball player Tony Grier, We play games, Give away prizes, and generally have a good time celebrating the USF BULLS. So this party is for all of us, the fans, and it will ALWAYS be free to the public. I hate the concept of charging people money so they can participate in what everyone in Florida should be celebrating anyway the USF BULLS ! It is on the same day as the ladies football clinic, but Holtz likes the way it turned out last year and we all get together and party afterwards. As always, if there is anyone out there who wants to help set up the event, If you'd like to take pictures (to post on the BullsPen) or video (to broadcast over the web), if you're a BULLS fan who wants to party, or might have BULLS related Merchandise to sell (compliance-based), or knows a BULL-friendly business who would like to offer discounts for BULLS fans, I will never charge anyone to show up. (but you can always buy a mug if you want one...LOL) Thanks to everyone, especially, Swamprat. He is a good friend who bleeds Green and Gold. Brad, who is the king of TBP (who let's me rant) and BDYZR who always carries the torch for BULLS COUNTRY !!! Enthusiasm is contagious people, Clear your calendars and let's do this... -Mutt
