  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2380766 Reports: Huggins accepts Kansas State jobESPN.com news services Bob Huggins, the long-time Cincinnati coach who led the Bearcats to 14 straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a Final Four in 1992, has accepted the job of head basketball coach at Kansas State, according to published reports. A news conference is expected later Thursday, the Kansas City Star reports. Huggins' agent, Richard Katz, told The Associated Press early Thursday that Huggins had not yet signed a contract. A source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Andy Katz something would be known by the end of the week. Kansas State basketball sports information director Tom Gilbert told the AP that no news conference had yet been scheduled by the school. Huggins, who was forced out at Cincinnati last August after 16 years as head coach, will replace Jim Wooldridge, who was 15-13 this past season at Kansas State. Woolridge was fired on March 9 following his sixth season in Manhattan. Huggins, 52, accepted a $3 million buyout after a public squabble with new Cincinnati president Nancy Zimpher, who disagreed with the way he ran the Bearcats program. Andy Kennedy, Huggins' top assistant and recruiting coordinator the past four years, took over the Bearcats as the interim coach. Cincinnati (21-12) is in the NIT quarterfinals, where it will play South Carolina on Thursday night. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

  7. Maruszak Guides USF To First-Ever BIG EAST Victory Final Stats TAMPA, Fla. (Friday, March 17) – A walk-off double by freshman shortstop Addison Maruszak guided the University of South Florida baseball team (9-10, 1-0 BIG EAST) to a 4-3 victory over the UConn Huskies (8-6, 0-1 BIG EAST) on Friday, March 17 at Red McEwen Field. With a runner on second, Maruszak crushed his seventh double of the season, sending the first pitch he saw to the wall in left field. Relief pitcher Nick Manganaro earned his first victory of the 2006, allowing just one hit in one inning of action versus the Huskies. The win marked the first-ever BIG EAST victory for the Bulls. Registering 11 hits in the contest, USF was led offensively by senior Kris Howell (2-for-4) and sophomore Joey Angelberger (2-for-4). Howell drove in a run while Angelberger scored one and sparked the Bulls’ comeback in the seventh inning with a lead-off double – his four two-bagger of the season. UConn’s catcher Larry Day went 2-for-4 while third baseman Erik Turgeon – a product of Palm Harbor, Fla. – batted 2-for-4 with an RBI. Starter Casey Hudspeth went eight innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out three to earn a “no decisionâ€Â. Manganaro, who came in the game in the ninth inning, struck out one batter in his lone inning of relief. Huskie reliever Joshua MacDonald suffered his first loss of the season, allowing one run on three hits in one and two-thirds innings pitched. Starter Tim Norton lasted six innings, allowing a season-high three runs on six hits. He was relived by left-hander Mike Tarsi in the seventh inning. Tarsi pitched just two-thirds of an inning before MacDonald came in the game. USF jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With Ty Taborelli on third and Maruszak on first, catcher Brian Baisley singled to right-center field, scoring the Bulls’ center fielder and giving USF the early advantage. UConn answered with two runs in the top of the second. A triple by Matt Untiet with a runner on first scored the Huskies’ first run of the game. UConn added another run with an RBI-double by Turgeon to center field. The two-run second inning gave UConn a 2-1 lead. The Huskies added a run in the top of the fourth with an RBI-triple by Bryan Maler, scoring Pat Maloney from first base. The score extended UConn’s lead to 3-1. USF rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs and tying the game at 3-all. Angelberger got things started with a lead-off double. A bunt single by Dexter Butler advanced Angelberger to third. With runners on first and third, pinch hitter Matt McHargue hit a copping single to the pitcher, scoring Angelberger and drawing USF with one run. Butler, who advanced to second on the McHargue single, stole third base to put the tying run 90 feet away. A single by Howell to left-center field scored Butler from third and tied the game, 3-3, heading into the eighth inning. UConn threatened in the top of the eight with runners on first and second and just one out. However, Hudspeth got Mahoney to ground into an inning-ending double play to keep the score knotted at 3-3. In the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on second, Maruszak registered the game-winning hit, leading USF to its first conference win in its first-ever BIG EAST contest. USF will continue its three-game series versus UConn with Game Two on Saturday, March 18. On the mound for the Bulls will be sophomore Daniel Thomas. Throwing for the Huskies will be left-hander Rich Sirois. 9. Posted by: Wild_Wild_West Posted on: Mar 14th, 2006, 11:41pm The biggest request I would have (and this regards Basketball more than anything,) is can the PA system not turn the place into a "rap fest" evey game? Admittedly, I only went to a few BB games this year, but every time it seemed like 50 cent and lil john was running things. The reason for a lot of rap during pregame is because the players for the most part request these type of songs because it gets them pumped up. The dj tries to mix things up from time to time, but for the most part plays rap music that was just released to pump up our players:) GO BULLS!

The Bulls extended their lead with an RBI single by Joey Angelberger in the bottom of the fifth. Maruszak scored from second on the hit, giving USF a 3-0 advantage. Right-handed pitcher Rory McDonald is projected to take the mound for the Minutemen. First pitch for Game Two is scheduled for 1 p.m
  11. I think SHU might be out or one of the other better Bubble teams. Why, because George Washington just lost to Temple in the A-10 which means there will be 2 teams in from A 10.
  12. Illinois is winning 7 to 3 in the bottom of the ninth inning at the Red today:( Hopefully we rally in the bottom half of the ninth.
  13. Kool Aid the only thing you need to know about soccer is more Siren! Go BULLS! And soccer is gonna be awesome next year its first time I can really say I'm looking forward to a season that isn't usually part of the big 3 Football, BBall, and Baseball. 8)
  14. Glad most of you agree about Amarri. And truthfully I think it would be cool if stadium would all say and go along with song everytime he catches ball. When the moon hits the sky like a big pizza pie thats "Amarri"!
  15. When the moon hits the sky like a big pizza pie thats "Amarri" Jackson Go BULLS!
  16. Smoke and Mirrors people. Smoke and Mirrors.
  17. Is game on tv this weekend? And with all the chaos and clamor over the mens bball we need to turn our attention to the ladies they could be going to NCAA's for first time in school history that deserves some pop on this board more than anything else right now. Good Job Ladies! GO BULLS, BEAT ND!
  18. Please no not the S U C K, suck suck suck (Jets)! Anywhere but there the pats and bills! I think Andre best two fits honestly would be Denver and Pittsburgh. Steelers are looking for another rb with Bettis retiring, Haynes a free agent and duce staleys injury problems. With their offensive lines and running nature he would get alot of opportunities to be a 3rd down back and work his way up the depth charts! But I still hope he comes to the Dolphins;) Go BULLS!
  19. Come on Dolphins cut ties with ricky and open up a new "HALL"way at Dolphins stadium for Andre. Him and ronnie brown would be a great 1-2 punch! And Miami is not RB hell look at brown last year, and ricky pre trouble days, Lamar Smith, and if you wanna go back really far Larry Csonka, and Bernie Parmalee! The one positive as a Dolphins fan I saw to the Ricky mishap is now maybe we will draft a rb in later rounds! Which I hope is ANDRE! Nobody is wearing # 2 so its a perfect fit! GO BULLS!
  20. I admire the passion gurlybull and I to will be working and pulling for our bulls! But louisville football we had a full team of players and not many injuries and Amarri and Andre! Bball I wish had same type of depth but just not happening this year. We are gonna turn the corner next year in my opinion with the new guys coming in but this year I don't see us being in it with likes of UConn! Although if the comments are true what Calhoun said thats messed up and we do need to all show up and support our Bulls Stampede however shorthanded we are:) Go BULLS!
  21. Whatever your smoking you need to pass it on because if we keep this game under 20 deficit that very well could be considered a win for us! I hope we do great but really dont think it will happen against team like UCONN with their physical style of play and shooters. Villanova was diff story cuz lowry was out and they dont have that much size! But anyways Go Bulls!
  22. Thru 7 innings over at the Stetson Invitational its USF 4 the Illinois 1. Hopefully we can hold on for a two game win streak going into tomorrows game against Stetson! Go BULLS!
