  1. Sheriff, Now that was some classic hall of fame material right there. Thanks for the good laugh. ;D
  2. The more I think about it. USF football has been down during the last two years because of the QB situation. Lets face it, last season's team had a better defense that helped win some of those games. I also believe our schedule was easier last season. I still think a good QB at USF will turn things around. USF football will be ok. We are just hitting a low right now on the way up. I am just happy in the direction of both the basketball programs.
  3. Sheriff, I agree that it was a good moral win for the USF program. The good news is that this team should improve in these next seasons with more talent and depth coming in. I dont know how Coach Fernandez did it, but he did it with good recruiting. He has to be one hell of a saleman to get this talent coming hear at USF. Thank goodness that Paul Griffin made the hire. Thank goodness, that they stuck with Coach Fernandez. Basketball can succeed at USF with the right coaching, so I dont want to hear excuses on why basketball cant be successful at USF. All this is just talk right now though because there is a long season to go. I think an NCAA appearance for USF would be a great next step to take. One day, the SUN Dome may be filled with all kinds of postseason banners.
  4. Right now, USF basketball is on the uphill quest while USF football is on the downhill. I am sorry to say it, but the OC is not the only reason that USF football is going downhill. I really cant pinpoint what it will take to turn it around, but I will say that the QB and secondary need to step it up next season. I dont care how young we were, we just cant afford to lose to ARMY. My two worse let down games are going to be ARMY and Memphis. USF should have beaten both those teams at home this season. The bowl game was lost on those two games IMO. Anway, I hope they turn it around, but it will be harder because the BIG EAST wont have many easy games at all. PS. I hope the BASKETBULLS start to win to get this community supporting hoops. It sure would be good to have a surprising year because USF can take advantage of no Tampa Bay Lightning season.
  5. Playing in the BIG EAST next season is sure going to be fun for both the men and women. It will be a great challenge to win in the toughest basketball conference in the nation. Getting season tickets for basketball is a bargain right now. You are pretty much guaranteed to have alot of good teams coming in like UCONN, SYRACUSE, NOTRE DAME, LOUISVILLE, CINCY, MARQUETTE, DEPAUL, PITT, ETC.
  6. We said it before and we will say it again. Indiana football is coaching career killer. Leavitt would not take a step down and leave this area behind now that USF will be in a BCS conference. The BIG EAST invite was huge because it will help USF keep their coaches.
  7. Seth could not make it work with one of USF's best players in Kelvin Brown. That really started to be our downside. Kelvin Brown was going to be a hell of a player for USF, but it just did not work.
  8. bullman, Lets just say that Richmond made the NCAA's last year. They had a big upset win at Kansas last season. On the other hand, USF has not made the big dance since 1992. To top it off that, the competition was not as hard. Please stop hating a coach that will turn our dreadful basketball team around in a few more years.
  9. I am not blaming the students for that football game, but I am blaming to students that gave up on the basketball team last season. Lets see if the students support basketball because there really is no excuse not too since the SUNDOME is on the **** campus. The football thing is another issue because it is an off campus stadium. And, I have to say that it was the students that supported the football team in force during the beginning It was not the community. The community let USF down big time on the USM home game. There is no doubt about that. That game should have had at least 35k in attendence. This just goes to show you that I would rather have the stadium located on campus because the tri-city bay area does not really support USF football. I believe us diehards would still watch USF football games if they had an on-campus stadium one day. Better yet, I believe the attendence would be better because it has more of a college feel to it.
  10. I remember those reverses working in the past few seasons with DeJuan Green or Fisher. It is a gutsy call, but I believe it would have been better than that pitch back to Hall.
  11. It is all a lost cause right now. We are in big trouble.
  12. USF football is in for a rude awakening next season. I just dont see USF winning more than 2 Big East games next season. There will not be any East Carolina's on the conference schedule next year. The BIG EAST is not going to be a joke which is why USF is in big trouble. I think USF might start to compete in the BIG EAST in the year 2007 or 2008. Lets be realistic here because there wont be any gimme games. Both USF football and basketball have their work cut out for them. It should be fun, but it will take some time.
  13. You know what is worse??? The attendence at the basketball games. There just is no student support for basketball right now. When I went to school in the late 90's, students had to run to get good seats. Now, there is about one row of students watching the basketball games. It really has gotten worse for some reason. I just as much rather USF shut down athletics if noone is going to care about them IMO.
  14. Right now, USF is near the bottom of the BIG EAST. My ranking of the new BIG EAST: 1)UL 2) Pitt 3) WVU 4) UCONN 5) SYRACUSE 6) CINCY 7) USF (IF WE ARE LUCKY TO BE BETTER THAN RUTGERS) 8)RUTGERS That is how we stand right now IMO. USF is in for a hard time in football next season. I think USF needs to put more resources in basketball because we have more of an opportunity.
  15. To be honest, I think the USF basketball team is going to be good. I have alot of doubts right now for this football program in general. The support is not there. The community could care less about USF, so there is not going to be any pressure to change. It is becoming painfully obvious that USF football is going to be a bottom feeder in the BIG EAST. GO BASKETBULLS!!!! MAKE US PROUD!!!!
  16. Bullheaded, I am sorry, but I believe this was a game for the Tampa Bay community to support, but they dropped the ball. The students were on Thanksgiving vacation, so I expected this to be non-existant from them just like the basketball games. If you were counting on student attendence for USF then you are just crazy. What I was more upset is that there was not much promoting for this game. To be honest, I would not have even known their was a USF game starting at 11am if I wa not a die hard USF fan. I had to tell alot of people that the time changed for this game because they thought it was at 7pm. I dont know what USF can do, but I just think it is tough to sell USF because of the BUCS. I just dont get why people want to waste all that money to watch a bad Bucs team.
  17. I knew the attendence was going to be bad after they changed the time which is why I was mad. USF students are not that dedicated to attend a Saturday morning game. USF dropped the ball by not promoting this game more. There should have been alot more families at this game since it was a morning game. Expect more of the same next weekend. Until USF is ranked in the top 25, the community will just stick their noses up at USF IMO. It is sad, but I came to that reality during the ECU game in which we had bad attendence. Everyone loves a winner in this town, and losing to Army is not giving them a good impression of a winning team. We have the same problem Cincy does right now.
  18. Lets put it this way. I grew up rooting for the Gayturds, but I changed real fast as soon as USF got a football team. As a matter of fact, I went to that first USF football game and decided that USF is where I wanted to be. There were about 50k at that game. USF has a huge alumni base in the Tampa Bay area, yet we get 20k fans to a big game???? There is no **** excuse for this because the same thing can be said for the basketball team. The point is that Tampa Bay wont support you unless you win games. Check every sporting team in Tampa to find that out. The BUCS used to get about 30K a game when they could not win. The Lightning use to get about 8k a game when they were not winning. The Devil Rays still get about 10k a game if they are lucky. The USF basketball is now drawing about 2k a game. What is up with the COMMUNITY with no UNITY??? TAMPA BAY= SORRY EXCUSE FOR A SPORTS CITY.
  19. CubanBull, I would say that Miami's support is worse down there. They cant even sell out the Dolphin games. The Miami game against Wake Forest had alot of empty seats. Thankfully, Shaq is on the HEAT's team because I use to be amazed about how empty that place was. Also, the Miami Hurricanes basketball team does not draw well at all. I am afraid to even check their attendence right now because I know it is bad. I am going to say that MIAMI, TAMPA, ORLANDO, and ATLANTA have crappy support for sports. With all that being said. USF should do better on attendence because of the so-called amount of alumni in the Bay area. U of Miami cant really depend on the Alumni because it is not as large. USF has a large alumni base that needs to support the teams better IMO. Even Chad Barnhardt was pretty mad at the poor showing by the attendence, and it takes alot to get Chad Barnhardt upset. I am personally more concerned about attendence than how good the football team is right now.
  20. I will be there. However, this terrible bandwagon city wont be there. The Tampa Bay community are very bad sports fans. They only support a winning, and USF is not a winner right now. The next time I hear some nitwit in this Tampa Bay area critize fan support of other teams, I will remind them of how they support their local college and baseball teams. Tampa Bay is nothing but a bunch of bandwagon AHOLES!!! That is all I have to say about that.
  21. We had no offensive catalyst today. Even when the USF defense played so bad, USF was still only down 16-0 at the half. I am sorry, but I missed having Fisher out there with those three fourth down and short plays. The defense knew it was going to Hall. Next season will be much better if we get Fisher back. And smazza, I never was thinking about Fisher throwing a pass. I was thinking of the option on short yardage situations. Also, was wishing we had him on punt returns because USF has no threat to take it to the house this season. To me, not having an athlete to take it all the way to the house is not exceptable because we are a so-called Florida school.
  22. Count me in as someone that missed Brian Fisher this season. I dont care what you say, but Fisher was a big part of our offense going into this season. You can ask the coaching staff and they can tell you that they would love to have a weapon like Fisher this season. Look, we have no hope on returning punts this season due to Fisher not on this team. I am just hoping that USF lucks out and gets one more season for Brian Fisher because we need all the help we can get.
  23. BullDoug, I agree. The DBs have been getting schooled all season long. I still dont know why teams want to run against USF because we cant stop the pass anymore. Last season, it was getting bad, but this season is way worse. Hell, this USF secondary made the South Carlina's backup QB look like an ALL American. I dont put any blame on the defensive line because there is only so much they can do right now. It is just bad when the QB can take one step back and find at least two open WRs. Blame Verpaele all you want, but it is the DBs job to cover or at least break up the pass.
  24. As a die hard USF alum, I went to watch both the BasketBulls and FootBulls this weekend. Well, I have to say that the BasketBulls are making me more proud right now than the FootBulls. I know we are yound in football right now, but I believe the BasketBulls will have a good year. They just look like a complete team right now unlike what the footBulls look like. I mean, the Basketbulls actually play both defense and offense well while the footbull are struggling on both sides. To be honest, I can see the USF basketball team making it to post season play before the FootBulls will now which is what I would never have guessed going into this season. If there are any USF fans that have never been to a USF basketball game, you really need to go this season. I am really exicted about the direction of both the men and women's hoops.
