What was I thinking? 6-5 is a great year, having a pass oriented offense that ranks as the 108 passing offense in the nation is super. There are 9 teams behind us!!

You're right its all great and I am to blame if they cannot get a guarenteed bowl bid next year.

BTW - Thank GOD we didn't get the BCS bid. It would have embarrassed the program for all eternity. I was just a bit sensitive to being called upon to make a statement that should have been made on the field.

If you are not proud of a USF team going to a New Year's Eve Bowl game after all critics and fans predicted to come in last or 2nd to last, then don't be a fan of USF! We don't need you.

Jump on someone else's bandwagon and then you won't have any problems next year if the Bulls don't go undefeated!

I am very proud to being going to the Bowl and will be representing my school regardless win or lose!!!!!

  2. According to this aricle. Looks like Alwan Lee might be a pretty good find.  They say he is a Michael Vick type QB with pinpoint passing!! Lets hope he can be the man!

SEFFNER - Defending against one of the state's best quarterbacks required a call to one of the nation's sharpest defensive minds.

So Matt Thompson, Armwood's defensive coordinator, just picked up the phone last week and called 1-800-Defense.

On the other end was Monte Kiffin, defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Who better to advise Thompson on the best strategy to use against Booker T. Washington quarterback Alwan Lee, a Michael Vick-type athlete?

"He was happy to give me advice," Thompson said.

That advice: Don't over-contain the quarterback.

It's worked for the Bucs against Vick and it worked for Armwood against Lee, a pinpoint passer and also a sprinter who doesn't hesitate to run with the ball.

Kiffin confirmed his conversation with Thompson, who said he called the Bucs coach on his drive home, and they spoke for about 30 minutes.

Thompson told Kiffin that in 2004, Lee ran through the Hawks' rush and his athletic ability allowed him the time to find an open receiver.

    Kiffin's advice?

"Go after him, but only go back as far as the quarterback, don't get behind him because then he'll escape through the pocket," Thompson said.

"It was really hard to teach the kids that," he said. "We practiced it all week."

But it worked. Lee's rushing yards were limited to two to three a carry, but his 26-for-36, 326-yard passing effort, like Vick's -21-for-38 for 306 yards against the Bucs - just turned out to be big numbers. Lee was limited to eight second-half completions after the Hawks began blitzing.

Thompson is counting on it working against Tim Tebow, the senior quarterback of Ponte Vedra Nease, the Hawks' opponent in the Class 4A state final Saturday. Some publications have Tebow rated the No. 1 high school quarterback in the nation.

"Tebow is not as shifty as Alwan, but he is powerful and you're not bringing him down easily," Thompson said. "When he goes one-on-one with a linebacker, he wins."

  3. Car Care bowl is on New Years Eve at 11 AM.

Round Trip flights for TWO people on Expedia to Detroit with two nights with car in a 4 star hotel are running about 900 right now.  Same for Charlotte on 12/26.  Financially, it's pretty much a wash.  It's more of a scheduling issue.

Actually, it looks like the Car Care Bowl will be much more reasonable financially. Two people for flights and hotel looks around $700. Motor City looks to be just over $1000.

    GO LOUISVILLE!

  4. That's a good one Eric! If it were only free, I'd be at everyone! Already been to two away trips and that is all the budget allows for.

It is pretty crappy that we are having this much trouble getting games on TV.

It is true about trying to recruit new Bulls fans! They still look at us as second rate. This no TV bullcrap only confirms their thinking of us as second rate.

  5. Nice article, but can anyone tell me why this guy isn't playing defense?   He can't catch!! I wonder how long he will be number one.  He clearly should not be after the first two games of this season.  The Bulls need to wake up and fix this problem.

Big Cat are you an idiot? Did you watch the Bucs first game this season? Michael Clayton dropped his first two balls thrown his way. Do you think he can't catch either? Do you think the Bucs should cut him?

Wake up! Amarri dropped the first 2 balls thrown to him in his first football game in over 3 years. Obviously he can catch! Leavitt would not have put him in the #1 spot if he was not catching everything in practice over the last month!

Let's judge his ability to catch after more than just 2 passes!!

    Go Bulls!

  6. Athletic dept only sold about 500 tickets, so if 500 people bought tickets ont heir own then we will have 1000 fans. Say we compromise and there are 700-800 fans, with discounts they get on t-shirts and having a sponsor throw their logo on the back we coud easily get these shirts for $6-$7 a pop. Of course everyone has their own bull gear but we would look a heck of alot better if we all had the same shirt.

They only sold about 500 but they also gave away about 500 to family and so forth.

    1000!

  7. 1st of and foremost: Let's NOT turn this post into Duemig lovers vs Duemig haters. There are more important issues at hand.

The reason he never talked USF was that no one called in about USF.

I've noticed many times when there would be a subject that wasnt very popular, that all of a sudden became popular, and he would do his research and begin to talk about it. He's always been that way. Like him or not.

I think today's show with Leavitt will go a LOOOOOOOONG way in deciding whether or not the hosts of 620 will talk about USF football, on a daily basis. If we show that there is a market for USF football, then the hosts(ron and ian included) will be forced to do some research and start talking USF football.

You hit the nail on the head!

Let's give them a reason to talk USF football!
