  1. Zero chance we get an at large bid this year with our strength of schedule. Only chance we have to make ncaa tourney is to win big east tourney. Decent season this year but didn't beat enough good teams when given the little chances we had with the weakest schedule USF has had in 20 yrs.

  2. Great pitching performance indeed. But not one of the greatest. I think a lot of people who haven't followed usf baseball for a long time don't realize usf was a top 25 baseball program year in and year out for a long time. There have been numerous no hitters and even a perfect game not too long ago.

Nonetheless, great performance by Barbosa. But best in history is stretching it a bit.

Great win Bulls. We need a sweep!

  3. I just checked that hotel and they are sold out.

    Gene,

Try this one. This is where we are staying.

We booked 7 rooms at the Mariott Grand National Hotel in Opelika. It is only 10 min from the stadium. Robert Trent Jones golf course is located on premises as well if anyone is looking at golfing while there as well.

I'm sure you are already doing it...but get there a day earlier and stay a day late...and play BOTH of the major courses there.

The are BEAUTIFUL golf courses (with some HILLS!).

And yes...its a very short drive to campus/stadium (yes...there will be plenty of traffic on those narrow Auburn roads...just be patient).

Yes thanks for tips. We are going up early on Thursday and plan on playing both courses on Friday!!! :)

BHB...What did ya think of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Resort?

I guess I don't have to ask if you had a good time at the GAME!!

PS. Sounds like others that spent the weekend in Auburn had a BLAST as well! It IS one of my favorite college towns!

Grand National could not have been a better set up. Everyone that stayed there didn't find a bad thing about it. The Grand National course was AWESOME. Probably one of the Top 5 courses I have every played. Even though it kicked my butt we still had a blast. Couldn't have been any better!

  5. careful with that one guys, no cancellation or refunds.. Also 190 bucks?  Stay in North Columbus with us! we will pay 190 for two nights at hampton in north columbus... That leaves us more $$ for the two tailgates!  Yes before the game tailgate and after is a must at this one!

No reason to cancel! I wouldn't miss this game for anything! Plus the aggravation of driving on game day to and from is going to be murder.

It's gonna be great to roll out of the room and be right down the street. Plus we are playing golf there! :)

  6. At the end of tonight's game we will be half-way through the season.

Quick question.  If a team weren't to win their conference, generally how many wins do you need for an at-large bid to a regional?

Generally 40 wins is the bench mark. The committee also looks at RPI and how you close out the season. They like to see a team that gets hot towards the end of the year.

  7. I'm looking to get back into golfing again but it's been a little while.

I need some advice on brands and prices. My budget from irons are around $200 and know I can find some decent brands at the oldsmar swap meet. The problem is, I don't know what are decent brands anymore, especially in that price range.

Any advice would be helpful. My total budget is around $400 or so...hope that isn't too cheap for anything good.

T & D Golf over off Waters just west of Dale Mabry is a good place to start. They are very educated in golf and have tons of used and new clubs for a good price.

  8. can not wait

Just an FYI if someone is still looking for a nice place to stay in Auburn. We booked 7 rooms at the Mariott Grand National Hotel in Opelika. It is only 10 min from the stadium. Robert Trent Jones golf course is located on premises as well if anyone is looking at golfing while there as well.

As of earlier this week they still had rooms.

It was $139/night for Thurs and $189/night for the weekend.

  9. The $236,500 divided by $30 is actually 7,883 tickets paid for by USF (so Brett may have rounded somehow.

Obviously, athletics gave away a few tickets... both the 500 to the students and more for the traveling contingent (families, staff, etc).

However, if that number is accurate, then only 1,117 people paid for tickets.  Since USF was saying that 5,200 or there abouts had been sold -- it seems off.

This might need clarification ... if anyone really cares all that much.

    The important things are:

    - USF went to a bowl game

    - USF didn't lose money on the trip

I am 99.9% sure the allotment was 12k.  Subtract the 7,883 from that. It leaves 4117 tickets bought. You add the 500 students tickets paid for and a couple hundred more for Staff and Family. It leaves you right around the 5,000 attendance mark.

    Sounds about right.

  10. Has anyone mentioned who will get the QB coach duties? Since Smith was both OC and QB coach that actually leaves both postitions to fill but I haven't heard anyone talking about that.

Leavitt announced that Gregory will be OC and QB coach.

Coach Jim Leavitt has announced that Greg Gregory will replace Rod Smith who is heading to West Virginia, as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
