  1. Well well a guest!! lets see as you have said #2 Mr Football Florida, red zone national player of the year,4a player of the year two years in a row,All state 1st team QB in 4A two years, Combined for over 10,000 yards and did not play till soph year, so in 3 years in 4A,Polk county player of the year two years in a row,Lakeland Ledger player of the year two years in a row and it goes on. But I am not here to blow his horn just to say he is a Bull now by choice not by default or last option.

    He was recruited by  SC,NCstate,GT,Villinova,Uconn,Rutgers,WVirginia,UCF (yuk),citedel,Penn St.,Mich St.,Utau,Ill.,Indy,. As a QB

Because of his FIRM early commitment, not from lack of tring from them to sway him, they finnaly gave up! Most of these teams would love to have Matt right now or in a year, most of them said if it does not work out call us he is always welcome.........now I can take alot of critisism and if he has a bad game so be it I know all will let it fly and thats ok I have thick skin and I am a coach of HS ball also so I understand but he has not taken a snap and already a guest is questioning his ability as a QB. JL had a meeting with matt and has said you are a QB and will stay a QB I trust JL in his coaching...or hell Matt would not be here. This all boils down to Matt is a BULL and you dont have to line up agianst him, when he gets his shot you will be glad of that.  Sorry but had to vent!!!!

    Great response Flip Flop!

Don't pay any attention to this Tulderbull!

We know Matt will be the man in due time!

Anyone going to the game should no doubt join this tailgate. It is a blast! Plus since we will be well outnumbered it will be nice to have everyone together.

    Go Bulls!

  3. This is insane... make the guys sit on busses for five hours... give me a friggen break. I could understand bussing to UCF, but not to Miami. The athletic department should pony up the cash... I bet UM won't take the busses to Tampa for their return game.

ODDS AND ENDS: With USF's Oct. 1 game at Miami slated for an evening start and the Bulls idle the next weekend, USF will charter buses to Miami. It will save about $35,000 not flying and will be only the second road game USF bused to (Georgia Southern, 1998). ... With the home opener still a month away, USF has sold about 15,000 season tickets, roughly the same amount sold last season.

It's not that big of a deal. The team would have to meet at school at least 2 hrs before the flight 1 hr flight and 30-45 minutes at airport getting luggage and boarding the bus to head to hotel. Before you know it, the 5 hr bus ride is about equal to the time it takes to fly!

Plus it gives the team a little bit of comradarie on the bus joking and playing cards or whatever else they joke around about!

    No Problem whatsoever!

  4. >> Players showed off the team's new uniforms, which have the Big East

    >> logo in white letters on the left side of the front and players' numbers

    >> on the sleeves. The main uniform numbers are now embroidered, with

    >> white numbers and yellow trim.

Anyone have a pic of these?

There is a small picture on the bottom of the Trib this morning of Grothe and Hill.  You can only see part of the jersey but from what I could see they do look pretty sharp.

No huge changes but the little changes make it look much better!

  5. I bet hell still get them LOL, even if he includes an explanaion with it in the mailing. ;D

By the way Eric can you say how many have been sold for that game?

I called Amabel on Monday to add 2 more tickets to my 8 already. As of Monday she said a little over 300.

But she did say that the pace had picked up quite a bit over the last week or so.

  6. Can PSU score 27 pts even if the defense doesn't show up?

Has PSU ever scored 27 pts vs the 3-team defense in a practice?

Sure PSU's D is good, but they couldn't score pts against anyone over the past few years.

If USF can kill the clock/control the ball some with Hall, just like many other PSU Home Games, this has "under" written all over it.

    KL

Didn't they score 37 on you guys last year?

  7. Did Denson look that bad during the spring?  Why does it seem to be that on the board many think Denson has no shot?

Because some people on this board are just negative not knowing fans.

No one on here really knows what each QB is looking like in practice. They are just speculating and expecting the worst.

    Have some faith in Leavitt!

    Go Bulls!

  8. just get an idea....are most people going to Penn State planning on attending this tail gate?

This is our first road game....just trying to get a feel for what others are planning on doing?

    thanks

Yes I have 8 coming to this tailgate. Some people question the $35 price tag but I have been to 2 away games every year and the $35 is well worth the food, beverages and most important of all, the excitement of a couple hundred Bulls fans excited as heck.

Spend the buck and join this tailgate! You won't regret it!

    GO BULLS!

  9. Jim was the guest last night on the show. Did anyone else see it? Pretty good segment and interview by Rock Riley.

They talked about what it means to now be in the Big East, schedule and QB situation.

Really got me pumped up for the season. Leavitt was very excited like always and feels he has a ton of talent. He said the key will be how the talent jells together as a team!

    Go Bulls!

  10. Well, I don't know exactly which days or times. I happened to be going for a long walk and saw them a little after 5 PM. They were practicing on the field off to the right rear of the new athletic facility. They have painted football ines there now. I guess I could have gone inside the fence but there were only players there. So, I watched from where all the recycling dumpsters are located on the 50th street side.

At first various QB's were practicing throwing to receivers and then they had 7 on 7 games.

Please let us all know how Denson and Hill look on the field. I have never seen Denson or Hill on video or in person. Do they have fluid mechanics, strong arms, nice touch etc.

Just curious what to expect when we see them on the field for the first time!

    Go Bulls!

  11. Eric,

I for one want to tell you what a great job you guys are doing. I attended the one at Tampa Palms and couldn't have been more pleased. It was awesome and I had the opportunity to speak to each one of the coaches.

Don't listen to all the criticism on these post. The people that are complaining about this are the ones that missed out and didn't give it a chance. It was well worth the $125! Please continue doing the Around the Horns with golf in the future!

    Thanks

    Go Bulls

  12. Because it's all relative.  True, they do it with good coaching, but the players are not on-par with the I-A level, and in particular the competition USF faces.   USF faced seven teams that were ranked at one point this year, that's nationally ranked, in football, and five in softball.  They faced over a half-dozen first and second round potential draft pick pitchers.   The margin of error for USF in baseball, and softball is called slim and none.  We played UCF, Miami(Super Regional), USM, Tulane(World Series), ECU, UF(World Series), Army, Stetson, Wichita State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Quinnipiac, and TCU.  That makes 32 of our 64 games (50%) were against post season opponents- two which are in the College World Series and each has about a half-dozen major leaguers on their squads, and 18 against teams that were or are ranked.

With that type of competition the margin of error is ZERO!  AND ANY EDGE you can grab, i.e. facilities, traveling accomodations, tournament invites, coaching....that can help you grab that one extra good pitcher or batter and might give you an edge for this type of harrowing schedule.

Women's Softball played Auburn, UF, Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan, Depaul, BCC- all finished in the top 25, and Michigan was the National Champion, and Stanford who finished 4th.  We also played, UCF, Seton Hall, Penn State, Louisville, Tennessee Tech, Hofstra, FAMU, and Iowa.  So the Softball team played 26 games against ranked and post season opponents.

The drop off in talent from D1 to DII is significant and the margin of error is eliminated.  With our type of schedules you can't hide, and regardless of coaching you either have talent or you don't.  The question remains how do you get that talent, and how much of it is necessary to be competitive.

Thank you S. Bien. I couldn't have said it better myself regarding comparing DI to DII.
