  1. I dont think anyone has been down on the staff this yr, no websites or firings wanted have been posted for the football team. I think everyone realized that Rod Smith wasnt so bad he just had bad players and when he has a good QB his offense is great!!!!
  2. Bottom Line: 2 BE teams go to the BCS we go to Houston if only 1 goes we go to B'Ham. If Louisville loses today to Pitt book your tickets to B'ham (we will only get 1 BCS team). IF WVU beats Rutgers next week we then only have 1 BCS team (We go to Birmingham). If Rutgers beats WVU, and wins the Big East will Louisville get in as the #2 Big East BCS team. (Thats the big question)
  3. The new signage looks good, and its the little things like that which will help until the big money comes in. I hope they are not done with the green and gold room, they took out the trophy cases and painted it doesnt seem like anything else was done. The room looks very plain not spirited at all, there are no usf logos anywhere in the room. I am surprised there is not more to that room since its hosting donors who give a reasonable amount of money.
  4. Western Michigan 71, Virginia Tech 68 http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=263272711 LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) -- Michael Redell made two free throws with 52 seconds remaining to put Western Michigan ahead for good, and the Broncos held on Thursday night for a 71-68 victory over Virginia Tech in the Old Spice Classic at Disney World. Redell and Joe Reitz each scored 17 points and were a combined 18-for-22 from the foul line for Western Michigan (2-2). Redell's last two gave the Broncos a 69-68 lead, and Andrew Ricks added a pair of free throws for the final margin. Virginia Tech's A.D. Vassallo missed three 3-point attempts in the closing seconds, the last one at the buzzer. The Hokies (2-1) also turned the ball over on one possession, trying to get it to Vassallo with a chance to tie it. Jamon Gordon led Virginia Tech with 19 points on 9-for-11 shooting. Zabian Dowdell added 16 for the Hokies, who dropped to 0-5 all-time against Western Michigan. The Broncos trailed by 11 with eight minutes left in the opening half, but whittled the deficit to 34-29 by halftime. They surged to a 60-52 lead with 7:33 remaining in the second half only to have Virginia Tech battled back to take a 68-67 lead on Vassallo's jumper six minutes later. Vassallo, Virginia Tech's leading scorer through two games, finished with five points on 2-for-10 shooting.
  5. Mac has the troops looking good, Wofford beat Cincy Jackson St beat Rutgers we are 3-0 without the full squad, I am excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. If you have DirecTV or Dish ESPN 2 will be in HD. HD is not available on Bright House from my understanding. Atleast a noon game will be warmer than a night kickoff, If kickoff was set for 730pm we may have been 30 pt dogs.
  7. http://www.tbo.com/sports/bulls/MGBJKBN5RUE.html Ex-Eagle, USF Assistant Waters Dies By BRETT McMURPHY The Tampa Tribune Published: Nov 20, 2006 TAMPA - Former Philadelphia Eagles strong safety Andre Waters, regarded as one of the NFL’s most intense players, committed suicide early Monday morning at his Tampa residence. 8. Where is the line drawn for our record in cold weather.............Some teams do not win below 40 degrees, where do we stand. What is our record on National Tv (ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U, ABC, TBS, any other national networks?)
  9. I thought it was the bowl's choice who they want to select from eligible teams in a conference, I may be incorrect but I do remember hearing something like that.
  10. This sceneario could take place: WVU-BCS Game UL/Rutgers-Sun Bowl UL/Rutgers-Houston Bowl Cincy-B'Ham Pitt-International A 7-5 USF team gets passed up by Cincy if they beat UCONN next week to be bowl eligible. Luck is never been in our favor for whatever reason.
  11. Unfortunatly it will hurt our attendance, I dont see people other than students and your typical season ticket holders coming out for a Thursday night game
  12. 1. Do you BULLieve USF "can" win 2morrow ? I hope we will, but I dont bullieve we will 2. Where will you watch the game ? Home. 3. What will be the deciding goup in our victory; Offense, Defense or Special Teams ? Defense 4. At 7-3, are we at what you expected before the season? I honestly thought we would be either 10-0 or 9-1 going into this game, looking back there is no reason why that should not be the case 5. Do you even like Papa John's Pizza ? It does the job sometimes
  13. Thats because the stadium was more than partially funded by that state, they built Heintz Field and the Linc in Philly. Being that Pitt is a public state university part of the deal was Pitt got its own locker room and other amenities within the stadium and did not have to share with the Steelers.
  14. By rooting for which team will benefit USF the most?
  15. A package deal it was supposed to be: Hire Bob Huggins and you will get top kids including OJ Mayo. Obviously OJ Mayo feels differently and prefer the sunshine then the cold Kansas St weather. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2663744 LOS ANGELES -- Guard O.J. Mayo, a two-time Mr. Basketball in Ohio who is considered the top prep prospect in the country, has signed a national letter of intent to play at Southern California. His signing was announced late Wednesday night by USC. Mayo, a 6-foot-5, 215-pounder from Huntington, W.Va., averaged 28.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, five assists and 2.3 steals last season as a junior at North College Hill High in Cincinnati. He led the school to its second consecutive Division III state title. "We feel as a result of this recruiting class that it has changed the perception and expectations of our program," USC coach Tim Floyd said. "In O.J. Mayo, we signed the No. 1 player in the country. We think the impact of him alone raises the level of the program." Widely regarded as the top player in his class since the seventh grade, Mayo began getting attention as a 13-year-old starter on the varsity team at Rose Hill Christian School in Ashland, Ky. Mayo went on lead North College Hill High to two state titles before transferring to Huntington High in West Virginia for his senior year. "He has a poise to his game that is uncommon for a player his age," Floyd said. "I would encourage people to buy their tickets because he is worth it." Also signing national letters of intent with USC were forward Davon Jefferson of Lynwood, forward Leonard Washington of Lake Charles, La., and swingman Marcus Simmons of Alexandria, La. 16. http://www.tbo.com/sports/MGB8SAZNHUE.html Western Carolina Was Not The Gators' First Choice Skip directly to the full story. By ANDY STAPLES Published: Nov 14, 2006 GAINESVILLE - Greg McGarity leafed through papers in a file folder Monday and rattled off the names of schools the University of Florida wanted to play on Saturday. "Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State, UNT [North Texas], Florida A&M," said McGarity, the Florida senior associate athletic director who does much of the department's i-dotting and t-crossing. Instead, the Gators will face the Western Carolina Catamounts, a Division I-AA team that has lost eight consecutive games. By simply setting foot on Florida Field, Western Carolina will drive down Florida's computer rankings (one-third of the Bowl Championship Series formula) to the point where only a loss by Southern California or a major bribe to voters in the coaches' and Harris polls will allow the Gators - assuming they win their final three games - a chance to play in the national-title game. So how did the Gators wind up scheduling a team currently ranked 206th out of 241 Division I teams in the Sagarin computer rankings? A multitude of reasons, McGarity said. The Gators - and every other team in Division I-A - didn't learn they would need a game this week until April 28, 2005, when the NCAA approved a 12th regular-season game but didn't add an extra week to the schedule. That left schools scrambling. The best available schools this week were Western Michigan, Middle Tennessee State and Louisiana-Monroe. They were gone by early May 2005, when Florida settled for Western Carolina. Florida State snapped up Western Michigan. South Carolina grabbed Middle Tennessee State, whose athletic director, Chris Massaro, had just left an assistant AD job in Columbia, S.C. Kentucky swiped Louisiana-Monroe. McGarity said money wasn't an issue. Florida is paying Western Carolina $425,000, but McGarity said Florida officials would have opened the coffers for the right school. Of course, that team had to come to Gainesville. McGarity said Florida won't "put on the white shirts" outside of conference games, Florida State every two years and Miami every once in a while. To balance the budget, McGarity said, the department depends on the $2 million it receives from each home football game. McGarity said Florida began by contacting all the state schools except Miami, which plays Florida in 2008 and 2013; USF, which had a conference game scheduled; and UCF, which was scheduled to play in Gainesville on Sept. 9. None of those schools - Florida Atlantic, Florida A&M or Florida International - could play this weekend. Then he attempted to lure the stars of the Sun Belt Conference, none of whom could play. He then contacted officials from the Mountain West Conference (Utah, Brigham Young, etc.), the Mid-American Conference (Toledo, Akron, Western Michigan, etc) and Conference USA (Alabama-Birmingham, Rice, Houston, etc.). Nobody bit, but UAB offered two trips to Gainesville for one Florida game at Legion Field. Not wanting to dredge up memories of the 1992 Southeastern Conference title game, Florida officials politely declined. So why didn't Florida work harder to ensure the Gators had a quality opponent this week? They didn't believe they needed to. They didn't know Alabama and Georgia would have lackluster seasons, and they didn't know Florida State would stink out loud. Think about the perception of Florida's schedule in August. Western Carolina seemed like a welcome respite. Now, the Catamounts could keep the Gators out of the national-title game.
  17. Seth's days at usf looks like he was Pat Riley compared to what the heck is going on now.
  18. Game now on ABC took over after Wake shut out Bobby Bowden for the first time at home and 3rd time in his coaching career
  19. no no, if he didnt take Alabama or Kansas St I cannot see him taking the FSU job.
  20. But there is no way WVU or UL will go to a BCS game if we beat them, further the texas bowl will then take a 7-5 USF team
  21. Texas just scored in 4 plays.......so good 42-28 KSU
