  1. Here is the penalty breakdown since 2001. 2001 USF Avg 10.00 penalties for 83.00 yards 2001 Opp Avg 9.82 penalties for 82.09 yards 2002 USF Avg 11.64 penalties for 98.73 yards 2002 Opp Avg 7.27 penalties for 60.36 yards 2003 USF Avg 9.36 penalties for 83.00 yards 2003 Opp Avg 6.27 penalties for 47.91 yards 2004 USF 12.67 penalties for 107.33 yards 2004 Opp 6.67 penalties for 54.67 yards The Bulls are on pace this year to break the 2002 record for penalties and penalty yardage. 2. USF set a new record with 18 penalties for 164 yards (17 for 158yds vs UCONN 10/13/01). It places second in total penaties for a USF game with a combined 28 penalties for 268 yards (29 for 279yds vs UCONN 10/13/01). Kizarvexis
  3. I am not holding much hope for the penalty issue to be reined in. The trend seems to be that we stay about the same in the number of penalties per game, while our opposition has gotten better at having fewer penalties per game. The opponent penalty trend down I  can understand as the level of our competition has increased, but the USF coaching staff is missing something IMO. Kizarvexis
  4. The $EC officials made another mistake on that penalty as well. Kizarvexis
  5. It fits. He was talking about long held college traditions, so why not put up a pic of the fans of one of the youngest college football teams. BTW, has FAU increased their attendance this year after last year's playoff run and this year's great start? Kizarvexis
  6. BULL! He can play football, just not NFL football. Same way an 18 year old can run for mayor, but can't run for President. The NFL isn't the end all be all of football. Kizarvexis
  7. Oh, please. Clarett is a whiny little baby and I think the initial ruling by the judge was out of line. The NFL has the rule that you must have two years of college or be out of high school for 3 years to make sure that the athletes that they get have finished growing and are mature (physically) men. Remember, men don't finish growing until they are 21 or so. Not to mention that if Clarett wanted to play football he could play in NFL Europe, Arena or the Canadian league. It is not like the NFL is the only game in town and has a monopoly on football. The NFL has a rule to ensure that the athlete is mature and I think the judge jumped into legislative mode in her ruling. And before you blow a gasket Smaza, if you think that 18 year olds should play in the NFL, why not apply that to some other jobs with an age restriction. To be elected to the House of Representatives you have to be 25, the Senate 30, the President must be 35 and various state, county and city offices have similar age restrictions. So if Clarett is subject to age discrimination, how about the millions of men and women who can't hold public office because they are too young? Kizarvexis
  8. As I understood the 'move to the BE early' issue, it needed to be worked out before the end of '03. Since it is now late Feb '04, the Bulls are playing in C-USA for one last year. Kizarvexis
  9. The NFL Gameday "Game Before The Game" correctly predicted the last 8 Superbowls and that streak has been broken by the Patriots. Congrats Pats. Kizarvexis

  11. Well since the NFL owns the rights to the broadcasts and you can not charge for a broadcast without getting permission from the NFL. Same way you can not set up The Matrix and charge someone for watching without getting permission from the studio that owns the movie. Kizarvexis
  12. Super Bowl journal: The outcome has been decided by Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports January 29, 2004 HOUSTON – So that's that. Game over. Watch the Vegas line move. The Carolina Panthers are going to win the Super Bowl and the New England Patriots are going to have no answer for Stephen Davis. At least, that is according to the NFL GameDay 2004 "Game Before The Game." For the last eight years – in a twist of brilliant public relations – the people at 989 Sports and PlayStation 2 have paid one player on each Super Bowl team to square off in the video game. All eight years the winner has gone on to win the Super Bowl. There are a million ways to predict the winner of the big game, but you can't be more accurate than this one. On Wednesday, in the swank, brand new Icon Hotel in downtown Houston, the Panthers' Steve Smith beat the Patriots' Troy Brown 29-21 with Pat O'Brien and Deion Sanders calling the action in front of about 50 television cameras. >>>More === Looks like I was wrong to pick the Pats. 13. Yep, it is a nicely made shirt with the hologram NFL logo stickers. As far as i can tell it is not a knock off shirt. If I get time from work and sleep in the next few days, I'll try to take a picture of it. Kizarvexis
  14. Not necessarily. I have a 1999 Bucs NFC Champions shirt at home and I'm sure you all know that St. Louis won the NFC that year. I believe it is sometimes sold for really, really cheap after the game. (I got mine about two weeks ago at a yardsale, so I don't know how it was originally obtained.) Kizarvexis
  15. Hey, I didn't due to bad, since it is a Pats/Panthers Super Bowl. Now I guess we'll see if the Pats beat the Cats. Kizarvexis
  16. More like Knucklehead of the Century! Heck, Knucklehead of the Millennium! Unfortunately, I didn't see the game but I just wandered by the NFL.com play by play. You are playing in the Divisional Playoff game and are down by 3 at home. It's the 2 minute warning and you are 1st and ten, 38 yards (114 FEET!) from your opponents endzone and you have 1 timeout left! What does Martz do? Run out the clock like he had the lead. :o Here's the final two minutes from the play by play at NFL.com. 1-10-CAR38 (2:00) M.Bulger pass to I.Bruce to CAR 25 for 13 yards (R.Manning). 1-10-CAR25 (1:24) M.Bulger pass to M.Faulk to CAR 19 for 6 yards (T.Cousin). 2-4-CAR19 (:42) M.Faulk right end to CAR 15 for 4 yards (D.Grant). 1-10-CAR15 (:03) J.Wilkins 33 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-C.Massey, Holder-D.Looker. CAR 23 STL 23, Plays: 5 Yards: 43 Possession: 2:39. And worse, the Rams recovered the onside kick at their own 42 with 2:38 left. After the long throw down to the Carolina 38, why didn't Martz have the Rams rush up and spike the ball? They should have been able to stop the clock before the two minute warning as most NFL plays take about 10 seconds or so. So those of you who watched the game, did the Rams have time left on the clock to run up and try to spike the ball to give themselves another play before the two minute warning? Kizarvexis
  17. I can see the either the Colts or Patriots winning the AFC, but since the Pats have got it done all year and are the home team, I'll give them the slight edge. As a Buc fan, I hate the Panthers. I really, really hate the Eagles. But I can see the Panthers running over the Eagle D, so I'm thinking the Panthers will win the NFC. In any case, I can see the Colts/Patriots beating which ever team wins the NFC to win Superbowl XXXVIII. What do the rest of you think? Kizarvexis (Disclaimer: I've been known to be wildly inaccurate when trying to predict a football game, so if you take my predictions and foolishly risk money on them... be prepared to lose it.)
  18. 5 NFC-D: Detroit (0) vs. Dallas (5), 1970 Kizarvexis

  20. In another thread there was a list of the schools of the new Big East with their size and location. I was curious to see how old the BE football schools were and here is what I found. Rutgers was founded in 1766 and started playing football in 1869. That's 134 years of football! (No team: 1871) Pitt was founded in 1787 and started playing football in 1890. That is 114 years of football! Louisville was founded in 1798 and started playing football in 1912. That's 85 years of football. (No Team:  1917-1920, 1943-1945) Cincinnati was founded in 1819 and started playing football in 1885. That is 116 years of football! (No Team:  1907, 1943-1944) W. Virgina was founded in 1867 and started playing football in 1891. That is 111 years of football! (No Team:  1892, 1918} Syracuse was founded in 1870 and started playing football in 1889. That is 114 years of football! (No Team:  1943) UCONN was founded in 1881 and started playing football in 1896. That is 105 years of football! (No Team:  1917-1918, 1943) And you all know that USF was founded in 1956 and started playing football in 1997. That is 7 years of football. All-time records 66.23% USF (51-26-0) 57.71% Syracuse (659-432-51) 56.64% W. Virgina (632-432-45) 55.91% Pitt (620-447-42) 48.52% Louisville (394-401-17) 47.81% Rutgers (558-566-43) 46.43% Cincinnati (494-519-51) 46.04% UCONN (430-466-38 ) Kizarvexis USF is definitely the NEW kid on the block in the BE.
  21. You missed Tom Odle with D-II Ft. Hays St. who kicked a 67 yd FG vs Washburn in 1988 (tees were permitted until 1989). Martin Gramatica kicked the longest FG without the use of a tee (65 yds) in 1998 (Kansas St vs N. Illinois). Bill Gramatica kicked the longest FG without the use of a tee in I-AA play (63 yds) in 2000 (USF vs Austin Peay). But the longest collegiate FG was by Ove Johannson of Abilene Christian (not a NCAA member at the time) who kicked a 69 yard FG vs E. Texas St. on Oct. 16, 1976. Individual Collegiate Records - from NCAA.org Kizarvexis
  22. Actually, two people hold the record. Jason Elam kicked a 63 yard FG with Denver and Tom Dempsey kicked a 63 yard FG in the 70's. Tom had a club foot and did not use a soccer style kick. Kizarvexis
  23. IIRC, Synder sold his company for ~$1.1 billion when he bought the Redskins. Kizarvexis
  24. I voted for Sapp. I heard that his agent is talking about trying the free agent market since his contract is up. And since the Bucs have Leon's dead cap space, I don't know if they can fit Sapp under the cap before next season. Kizarvexis
