Just saw that Wichita threw Heuer last weekend and he'll likely get the ball against us in the AAC tournament. Stats aren't as good as Shane for a #1, but Wichita wasn't worried about gassing him out a week before the tourney.
That's a good point. I haven't followed WSU close enough to know what kind of pitcher Heuer is but they certainly didn't mind sending him out there. I would have liked to have seen shane go and get around 12 outs or so this weekend but sometimes he has to work really hard to get 12 outs.

Do they choose the teams based on conference numbers?

6 days. And if your ace can't throw on 6 days rest, you're run in the tournament is going to be VERY short.
yeah, we don't have the luxury of an ace.

5 days rest isnt enough?
its a little rough considering a deep run would could call for him to go twice this week. We struggled to get six per week out of him on seven days rest, much less trying to go into the tournament on short rest.

With the Rays planning to start Sergio Romo, a former closer, analysts such as Ken Rosenthal are bringing up Brian Kenny's theoretical "Opener". The idea is the opener is used like the closer except he just starts the game and someone else takes over in the second in a long relief role. The belief being the first inning is guaranteed to see the other teams best hitters.
A large scale shift to this model would call for all kinds of change to a traditional game, including the creation of a stat for a perfect 1st inning. I do like it however, I just wonder what kind of rotation there would be. One guy can't start all 162, would you have two or three "openers", and how would the rest of the pen look?

Update:
Existing Managers Reporting in (updated 5/17/18):
Will have a team in 2018:
Brad (Bullievers), Jim (Fighting Bulls), JJ (BULLS09), Big Matt (Tampa Thunder), Bryan (Chico's Bail Bonds)
Will not have team in 2018:
MC (Pigskin)
So we have one dropping out so far...Room for one more in the legacy league
I'll take the open spot if its up for grabs.

Let’s hope we found some off speed command. They are good FB hitters

Call it a tie!
If they did that Tulane would be the 8th seed with a WSU win.

They'll cancel the game IMO.
Can they? It's not like the game doesn't matter, it will possibly seed two teams.

Whoops. Must of been yesterday. Let's go Tulane!
Yeah, the link takes you back to yesterdays game for right now. i imagine when they get going it will switch over. Doesn't seem like anywhere in the east is safe from the rain this week.

Me too. It would also mean that WSU goes to the other side of the bracket.

Wouldn't that depend on the "repeated violations of team rules" situation?

PROVIDENCE, R.I., MAY 21, 2018 – Having secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming American Athletic Conference Championship in Clearwater, the USF baseball team was honored with six all-conference selections, the league announced Monday.
For the first time in five years spent in The American, USF saw six players earn all-conference nods. Junior third baseman David Villar (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) was named to the first team. A slew of Bulls were named to the second team, as pitchers Peter Strzelecki (Lake Worth, Fla.) and Andrew Perez (Orlando) were joined by outfielder Duke Stunkel Jr. (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), shortstop Coco Montes (Miami) and first baseman Joe Genord (Lake Worth, Fla.).
