    12. Toronto Blue Jays: Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida

    Shane McClanahan

McClanahan has the best fastball in the draft. He regularly touches triple digits and backs it with a plus changeup and average slider. The left-hander lost his freshman season to Tommy John surgery but returned to strike out 215 hitters in 142 innings over the past two seasons. His command needs work, as he's walked batters at a 5.3 BB/9 clip this spring, but there's huge upside here if everything clicks.

Does anyone know why we couldn’t have played 3 games on the same day. Is it a ncaa rule or conference rule

I think there might be one but I'm not sure. Its hard to plan three games for a pitching staff. You just can't bank on two starters going nine, even if its your top two and if they don't, that last game gets hairy.

    Hoping for the Stetson regional

Agreed. Wild pitches killed us today.

I agree. Runs off of WP just can’t happen. Cold offenses are a part of the game, WP are errors. But it is what it is, like I said before we were on house money at this point, couldn’t really expect much from Stewart, there’s a reason he started today and not yesterday.

False, no reason we should not atleast make the Championship game. Its time for us to win something in the Men's sports besides moral victories. We need trophies.

After we lost the first one, it was gonna even a struggle to get here. We needed two career days on the mound and got them. Can’t really complain to much for losing the this one

Who is this Hoffman kid? **** boy!

Good young freshman with a solid frame to grow. Comes a very good program at Calvary Christian. I think they have won somewhere around 60 in a row and just lost. He could be a big for us in the furture.

The field isn't what bothers me, it's that god **** chain link fence!

You would think they would have tried to put something up to film over it or from center considering we knew the weather would probably cause this. Yesterday I could barely find Villar in our Greys.

Absolutely. I threw around 75 innings each my junior and senior years of high school. I threw at least 100 over the summer between them playing travel ball. And that was in the 90s before travel teams went *******.

Yeah so really it’s a rule thats trying to correct something that isnt the problem in the first place. I don’t think I spoke to a single coach this season who even remembered it being a thing until it was brought up because even with in place, nothing really changes with how the staffs are managed and no one puts the work in to check it.

It's not a max. You are allowed to exceed the number, you just have to take a week off after you do. You can throw 200 pitches in a start if you take off the next 7 days.

All of this is aside from the fact that's it isn't HS coaches doing most of the damage. Typically a HS does a good job managing their staff. The weekends are the problem where its basically the wild west, depending on the governing bodies who don't work together.

Just blamed him for not winning the Conference Championship and of course his fault that we didn't win Game 1 yesterday ........

Also not true, I said that if he had stayed we would have been in a better spot to win and that a typical ace would have still been in there. Which is how another poster interpreted it.

The vast majority of your posts attack a college pitcher.

I have never attacked a college pitcher. That is your opinion, one that no other person on this site has backed you on, despite your constant attempts to paint me as a villain. No white knight spiel here.

Discussion specifically started about pitch counts and I'm well aware of how TJ injury's occur.

Move along and try to keep up

If only it made of difference. Again 9 innings or 120, neither will lead to TJ if cared for properly .

    What HS rules were changed?

they set some guidelines but I can tell you that no ones monitors it because everyone keeps their own books. its COA move more than anything. I at no point did a single umpire ask us about who's pitched when. It only comes up if there is a stud that no one wants to face and someone knows exactly what their innings were, then you have to prove it.

we were talking pitch counts, not innings.  Try to keep up

the two posts that I quoted mentioned anything about pitch counts, so keep up.

Since you want to change discussion. You can throw 120 pitches in a  game and not need TJ. TJ is a development over years of wear and tear. If in the Unfortunate event  the Sully needs TJ, it will because of what has happened over the course of years not this season. So lets pump the brakes on career changing injury predictions.
