  1. I could see either. Memphis is the dark horse to win the conference, IMO. They looked very good against UCLA, and I wouldn't be shocked at all if they took down Ole Miss today, who seems to get overrated every year. They are going to be tough to beat.
  2. We will know more about Cincy after today, but from what I have seen their defense is atrocious. I would bet on this Bulls team, scoring 28+ points on them and I'm not kidding. Total swiss cheese.
  3. White just isn't a good QB period. I have absolutely no idea how you say that, especially after this game. You are delusional. White played extremely well. 8-19. I'd hardly say he played extremely well. He did complete a couple great passes. In all fairness, if his receivers actually could catch the ball he would have been about 11 - 19. Still not great, but against Wisconsin on the road, he looked pretty good. I have been an Anti-Mike White person but I will give him his credit today. He looked solid out there. The interception was actually a great pass by him. He's starting to look more comfortable.
  4. As a Jet fan, I don't have any more energy to complain about the refs after the monday night game against the Bears. That being said the Refs today weren't doing us any favors. I think what happens though is that when one team is taking some real penalties the Refs tend to become much more critical of that team and then call garbage.
  5. Now that we have 5 games under our belt, I think many of us have a good feel for this team right now. Our defense is young, plays very good against the run, and below average against the pass. Our RB's are solid. Our QB is playing decently. Our WR's right now are a mess. Our O-Line with Thor back actually looks good enough to win us some games. At 2-3 right now this is how I see the season playing out. ECU - Loss Tulsa - Win Cincy - Win Houston - Loss SMU - Win Memphis - Loss I could see us beating Houston or Memphis instead of Cincy but right now Cincy is playing like the weakest team of the three, so I think we will beat them.. Tulsa and SMU are both trainwrecks and in atleast one I think we see the Bulls get their 1st blowout win in a LONG time. That is going to leave the final game against UCF as one of the most vital in our programs history. If we win we get to 6-6, make a bowl game, and regardless of whether we win or lose it will have shown massive improvement and promise for the future, not to mention a win over our arch-rivals. Lose and we will be 5-7, with no bowl game, and a season ending on a sour note. There will be high stakes for our program heading into the last game, that much I am sure of right now,.
  6. This board is going to implode after the ECU game. All year the Bulls have struggled to stop the pass, even against Wisconsin today. Most of the in completions they had were because their QB sucks. ECU is the 4th best passing team in the country, and it's not like they have played scrubs either. (South Carolina, Va Tech, North Carolina.) I see us getting wiped out against ECU similar to the NC State game.
  7. No doubt. The offense, although not great or even good by any means has shown improvement. They are atleast starting to move the football a little bit and against defenses not nearly as stout as Wisconsin, or in games not in a downpour like the UConn game, I think they will start to score some more points. Our defense is legit top 25 against the run. Wisconsin broke a few big ones later but they are one of the best rushing teams in the nation, that's going to happen. Our pass defense still scares me though.
  8. But let's not forget HOW we beat them...defense won that game for us....and only by three points. We can only hope they can do it again That's true no doubt. It's all going to come down to the battle in the trenches. UConn's D-Line is not great but so far they look better then our O-Line. Uconn's O-Line is a mess and our D-Line should have an easier time. By the end of the game today I actually felt bad for White, Flowers, Mack, and the rest of the offense that isn't on the line because there was nothing they could do, but will get most of the blame. Taggart's only option is to run to the outside and have quick short passes but when the other team knows that too it makes playing defense easy. The one play the O-Line actually held up was the TD pass, what a coincidence.
  9. I just wanted to throw in there too that for anyone who doesn't think so, football really is won and lost in the trenches. Give a bad QB 8 seconds in the pocket and he will look like a beast. Give a great QB 1 second, and he will look like trash. Give the RB holes, same deal. Pressure the opponents QB and your secondary will look much better only having to cover for a few seconds. Give their QB 8 seconds and your secondary is doomed. Just take a look at the NFL last week. Go pick the team that is better in the trenches and they most likely won. Dolphins beat the Pats. Big Shock right? Not really. Pats D-Line is weak and O-Line is mediocre at best, Dolphins are much better. Panthers beat Bucs. Better in the trenches on both sides. Bills beats Bears. Same deal. Lions trash Giants. Giants O and D lines are horrible. Jets beat the Raiders even with 2 turnovers and 100 penalty yards. Why? Because they dominated on both sides of the line. Taggart really needs to give some of his young offensive lineman a chance right now, and make sure while he is on the recruiting trail to recruit no less then 7 3-star lineman if he wants any chance of being successful.
  10. NC States D-Line was more physical then our O-Line but I really don't think that was the biggest issue at all. Our offensive linemen just don't know how to play offensive line. I know that sounds obvious but it's true. NC State D-Linemen were just coming through untouched over and over. That's not a physicality issue, that's an issue of offensive linemen having no idea what their assignment is. On top of that every technique that NC State used on them worked like they were played middle schoolers. They fake outside, come back inside, and our guys just get blown by. They just have no idea what they are doing. It's not like our defense, where I think today they knew what they were doing, they just kept getting beat. Their O-Linemen created a perfect pocket for Brissett on nearly every pass and opened huge running lanes. I can accept that and be ok with it. They tried, they just got beat. The few times they did get through Brissett was mobile enough to get away and I give him credit for that.
  11. Meh.. I'm not going to get on the "Fire Willie" bandwagon after one train wreck game against an ACC team. The parts of his team that are "his" guys have played pretty well this season. Sanchez. Bird. Godwin. Mack. Adams. If you asked me right now what players have played pretty well for the most part this season the entire list is guys that he brought in. That's not really all that comforting after the beatdown we just endured but it is true. It's also true, that the absolute worst part of this team by far is the offensive line, which by no coincidence is also the oldest unit on the team by far. I'm not even going to blame White for this game. If you literally have 1 second to pass every single play, there's just nothing you can do. Same deal with the running game. If your line is getting blown up every play then the best the RB will do is just get back to the line. Honestly after this game I am just looking at it like this. I expected the Maryland game to be a 49-17 blowout and we played them within 7 points. I expected us to either win or lose this game by no more then 10 points and we got destroyed. It eventually worked out that way, just in reverse. Friday's game will be the most telling of the season. UConn is terrible. They are so terrible that we beat them last season. We also got 24 3-star recruits this year while they got 3. This is also their 1st road game. If USF loses to Uconn on Friday then my personal hot seat for Taggart will start getting really hot.
  12. If Taggart has any balls (which at this point I'm pretty sure he doesn't) he sits down every single player, except for Bird and Godwin and puts in their backups. Every. Single. One. The game is already lost. The best thing he can do right now is use it to send a strong message to the football team.
  13. I swear Bird is the only football player on our entire team that decided to show up today.
  14. Where did all the Bulls fan on here go that suggested that White was just nervous his 1st game against Western Carolina. Worst QB in all of D-1 football, and I wouldn't be shocked if he was the worst QB in all of D1 and D2 combined. He makes the deer in the headlights look like Peyton Manning against the Jaguars.
  15. Just awful coaching. 6 players were standing in the endzone when that ball was thrown. Bresnahan should be ashamed of himself right now.
  16. If White is still in on the next drive, I hope all 3500 fans in the stands go home at halftime and don't come back this season.
  17. I'm done with this game. I have defended Taggart plenty, basically for recruiting his butt off and finding the only good players on this football team, but he's just too stubborn. White is the worst QB in D-1 football right now bar none. NC State is just sending a 5 man pressure every play and all he does is dance around and then throw a terrible pass or get sacked or try to run with his blazing 5.2 speed.
  18. The game isn't even close to over yet. There are 39 minutes left in the game. Teams come back from 21 down with that much time left all the time. If they leave White in and play prevent defense all game though it is over.
  19. And yes put Flowers in. Mike White sucks. A good chunk of us already knew that. The biggest thing I see with him is that he just looks lethargic. His 3 step drops take as long as most guys 5. His 5 step drops look like they take 9. He has no urgency whatsoever. He tries so hard to be cool calm and collected that in the meantime he doesn't do anything.
  20. This base zone defense is the absolute dumbest defense you can play. All the QB has to do is stand back there and fire away. The only way that ever works is if you have a great pass rush and a back 7 that can tackle extremely well. We have neither.
  21. That board is actually kind of sad. They have gone past the point of hoping for wins, and have just accepted their fate, so they make jokes out of it. It makes me glad that the BullsPen is still filled with tons of fans that want more for this team and even after a few years of losing, are not ok with it.
  22. Take USF all day in this game. They gave up 196 rushing yards to Old Dominion, and 246 rushing yards to Georgia Southern. Nearly every team they played last year ran the ball for 180+ yards minimum and when they faced a team in Boston College who primarily runs they gave up 420 yards. There's no chance we get 6 more turnovers this week but if our defense plays the way we did last week, and Wulff makes a gameplan based on the running game, the Bulls will win this. This is going to be an angry team from losing a game last week they should have won, and they will be out for blood.
  23. Not true at all. Maryland is a 7 - 8 win mid-tier P5 team. When we were in the Big East we would lose these games all the time. Rutgers, Cincy, West Virginia, Uconn (when they were much better), Pitt. Sure sometimes we would get some wins too, but we never headed into these types of games and just smashed the other team. NC State, UConn,Tulsa, and SMU are all horrible and I want to see us beat every single one. With that defense, and an offense continuing to gel, I don't think it's unrealistic at all. They will get Mack going again too. Maryland was just very disciplined and did a great job of slowing him down, but even after all that he still had about 80 yards.
  24. The crying and moaning on here (by some) about the so called "bad coaching" and how this team hasn't shown any improvement after this game today is one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen on The Bulls Pen. - We just stood toe to toe with a Mid-tier Power 5 conference team for 4 full quarters and had them on the ropes. - Our defense LOADED with Freshman and Sophomores completely and totally dominated the Maryland offense, and will only continue to grow at a rapid pace. - DID YOU NOT SEE THAT PASH RUSH?!?!? And that was against a decent offensive line. Just wait until we play some of the craptacular teams on the schedule this year. - Our offense sucks no doubt, but it sucks WAY less then it did last year. Against Louisville we managed 133 yards. Against Michigan State, 155. Against UConn, 220. Today they got 260 even after out starting QB went down. They are starting to make some good plays here and there in the passing and rushing game, they just have to start becoming more consistent and stringing them together. - The team DIDN'T QUIT. This to me more then anything else is the most important thing I saw today. This is now 2 games in a row that I can honestly say that this team did not quit and give up when it got tough. It's not always that you lost, it's how you lost, especially for a rebuilding team. I'm sorry but if you are feeling discouraged and down about the Bulls future after today's game then maybe you should just stop watching until 2015 when this team is a legitimate contender to win the conference and win 10 games.
