The Bulls Pen and Pye Road Meadworks

By Brad Meyer | Published 09/12/2022 | USF Bulls Football

Odessa, FL - You may be contemplating plans for this weekend's game at Florida.  It's scheduled for a 7:30 kickoff at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium where the Bulls lost to the Gators 42-30 last season.

If you are traveling to the game, there are a couple of on-site tailgates forming involving a couple members here @MSBulls and @FazaUSF.  you can find that information int he board thread here:

One lot is an RV lot with some Bulls RVs rolling in.  The other lot is closer to the stadium but has room for parking and canopies.  There certainly is an opportunity to meet a lot of Bulls fans in both lots.  You can reach out to both parties to learn more.

For those staying local and looking for a watch party, The Bulls Pen endorses and supports Pye Road Meadworks, owned by long time board member @Pye Road Meadworks.   His given name at birth (or soon thereafter) is Matt McDonough.  Matt and his wife Debbie are the proud owners of Pye Road.

I met Matt long ago here on the board, dating back to at least as far as 2005 when Matt and Debbie displayed this sign at the first USF Bulls FooIMG-5767095 (1).jpgtball bowl game hosted in Charlotte, NC.

Matt also was a writer for the original site, SouthFloridaBulls.com and covered USF Football games with unique in-game visits to fans throughout Raymond James.  He also helped put together road game fan gatherings and watch parties in past seasons.

Matt is a USF Alumnus and recently poured his mead at the Tampa Alumni Association Bulls Block Party.

Pye Road officially opened in 2021 after years of planning and perfecting their craft - honey wines, sparkling session meads and assembling a top-notch selection of craft beers.

Not everyone is familiar with meads, so I'll share this from the Pye Road website: Mead is - at its core - fermented honey mixed with water and yeast, but that simple description doesn't scratch the surface of what mead is today!  Today's mead can be dry, sweet, fruity, spiced, carbonated...like draught beer, the possibilities are endless.

Pye Road is on Untappd and recently was declared the 12th ranked meadery in the world!

Their mead is a must try and being there is an opportunity to be among Bulls fans for the Bulls at Gators on Saturday.  Please do me a favor and consider going to Pye Road and supporting this Bulls business.  Matt and I plan to co-promote and co-sponsor as much as we can to raise the awareness of the Bulls and offer Bulls fans places to meet, drink and discuss USF Sports.

Pye Road is located at 8533 Gunn Highway, Odessa, FL  33556, Phone is (813) 510-3500

As a die hard beer drinker I can attest to how drinkable Matt’s meads are, both styles.

    Thanks guys!

If you've never had mead before, we've got a variety of world-class meads in an array of styles for you to try - we'd love to introduce you to what we do!

If mead's not your thing, we've always got a killer IPA and a lager on tap, as well as a cooler full of some of the best craft beer in the country.

If you're not up at UF on Saturday, swing on by!
