It's Your New Bulls and Coach Go

Here we are Game Week, the first for USF Football in 2023.  

So much on the line.  In this crazy time of conference realignment, abandonment, destruction and consolidation, the Bulls program is just trying to come back to life - in time to be relevant in the future.

After three miserable seasons under former head coach Jeff Scott, the Bulls moved on from the Clemson experiment and hired Coach Alex Golesh formerly of the Tennessee Volunteers.  Golesh, or "Coach Go" as the players call him, paired with Volunteer head coach Josh Huepel to re-energize the Tennessee offense.

Golesh arrived at USF with a "work harder" mantra.  He seems to practice what he preaches.  He's everywhere, doing everything.  This rebuild takes that kind of energy.

He turned over much of the roster, last count 49 new players on the roster.  

Golesh want to go fast on offense and create a hungry defense that would make George Selvie, Tyrone McKenzie and Kawika Mitchell smile.  Swarm and punish, knock the crap out of someone.

Mystery abounds as we approach Game One.  Golesh has named a starting QB, but we won't know who that is until, perhaps, the first possession.  

The Bulls go to Western Kentucky to open the season.  Not too long ago, this would have been considered a warm-up game for the Bulls.  Now, it's going to be more of a barometer regarding how prepared, fit, aggressive and tough the Bulls are.  Underdogs at -11.5, the Bulls may have a tough time. 

New defensive coordinator Todd Orlando inherited the worst defense in the nation and will be going up against an "air raid" offense that will look to score quickly and often.  It will be a test but not much more.  We'll find out where Coach Go and his new mix of players are.
