“Anyone who opens, reads, or contributes to the repetitive OCS threads has no reason to beotch about the thread. Of course they all say the same thing, we all know that. But remember the old adage, if you don't have something nice to say... “

And

“I see nothing wrong with the subject routinely surfacing. The old timers should be able to handle it. “

Yeah, I s'pose y'all are right. It's just that it's tempting to look at the thread in the hopes that something original or new has developed.

In any event, I s'pose I'd hear it in a press release from Fowler Avenue if there was anything substantive.

Sorry, Wooly, somehow missed your request but I agree with Brad. These haven't really cropped that often so don't see a need either ... and if real NEWS came forth about an ocs, just like any real NEWS about conference realignment, would warrant its own thread and wouldn't be lumped into a rumor thread.

Why is it that we have that mega page 'Realignment Rumors, Conjecture & Superstition' thread, but we don't do the same for the topic of OCS? Why are the two subjects moderated differently? Seems like having one giant corral for the dead horse herd would be the way to go. 'Cause until the stadium gets built - or there's a firm decision not to...this subject is gonna be around. Much in the same way that as long as there's some disdain for the AAC and a yearning to sit at the big people's table, that 'Realignment & Rumor' thread is gonna continue to see visitation.

The main reason is that the OCS topic comes up so sporadically that there's usually a ton of pages in between threads and you've got newer members who haven't had the pleasure of hashing it out ..... but I think it's a very good point. I hearby decree that this is the official OCS Rumors, Conjecture & Superstition thread and all future threads dealing with the mythical aspects of our OCS will be merged into it.

Why not just pin it to the top of the threads? That way it's always in one spot and can be removed at the end of its lifespan. Given the redundancy of the text in place, wouldn't that be a good starting point for anyone who is late to TBP?
Back in the day we had JumUSFSig's OCS piece pinned at top but then the subject died for a couple years.

I see nothing wrong with the subject routinely surfacing. The oldtimers should be able to handle it.

was a good piece

Ray Jay is the worst college gameday atmosphere I have experienced...really bottom of the barrel as far as the pageantry that makes college football what it is.

I fully concur... a real college atmosphere exists regardless if you school is doing well or not, and who you play.

I've been to Duke on game day, and its no secret that Duke sucks... even though Duke football sucks, and they have a dry campus, their game-day experience is worlds better then ours.

We need an OCS if we are to ever break out of the mediocre cycle we are stuck in.

If we were fund raising for an OCS, I would sure as hell donate bc we NEED one.

The in game atmosphere would change tremendously. Oh well maybe some day.

Just to add to this....I know plenty of younger alumni who currently do not donate, that WOULD do so for an on campus stadium if they announced it.

Getting your name on a brick of the original OCS is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

But, nothing changes until the heads between fowler and fletcher say something...

Was thinking same thing while reading. 10-2; top 25; ACC Division champs; ACC coach of the year, etc... Yeah, Duke sucks

I guess a proper analogy would have been saying the atmosphere for tailgating is good at Southern Miss, UTEP, or New Mexico State.

I don't mind the OCS threads, so long as they're more like this one where a newer perspective and sometimes some stats are injected. The ole "usf is smalltime and we'll forever suck butt without an ocs" one liners don't do much for anyone though.

I have a feeling Judy, Doug, and the powers that be already have a vision, and perhaps even a roadmap and a plan to get where they wanna go regarding an OCS, as well as an indoor practice facility, and likely even beyond that as far as contingencies for expanding anything that becomes necessary. I do agree that I think an OCS can be a great announcement and goal for a program that may have hit a plateau, and it gives the fan base something to unify towards (with donations) and dare I say, helps mask some of the poor football play or rebuilding, as the hopeful goal will be to have the team on the up and up or at a high point when an OCS opens years down the road, as that ensures the attendance and fan interest doesn't do a Marlins-esque cliff dive after the honeymoon period is over and everyone has been to the venue a few times.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
