  1. As far as I know, they got back to Tampa around 7 am this morning. Commo is not a strong suit of the USF AD. ... --- ...
  2. I guess seeing who has the best fundamentals, and who can make the most mid range jump shots in 40 minutes is fascinating to you. Woman athletics recieve 35 percent of NCAA funding on average, and in some cases equal funding in select athletic programs. To me this is a joke and wouldn't hold up in a free market. Unlike Stan Heath basketball, USF women's basketball is very entertaining.
  3. If I remember correctly, Jose made $225,000 for this season, before bonuses.
  4. Jose was doing a good job when he had very poor facilities (practice facilities were all but non existent) to attract and train the talent necessary to compete in the Big East.. The Muma has helped this years team more than meets the eye. He has a number of very good recruits/commits lined up for next season.
  5. Incorrect! He was making $190K a number of years ago.
  6. I heard that an unnamed reporter from the Tampa Bay Times overloaded the circuit by plugging in an old little used curling iron.
  7. Those nice crowds we in a large part due to fans of UConn and the Irish...which puts dollars in the AD's pockets. Many UConn fans are Bulls WBB season ticket holders/donors who attend most if not all of our games and root for the Bulls. To them I say thanks for your support.
  8. BULLS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. According to USF, in the Tampa Bay area the game will be seen it's entirety on ESPN2 at 6:50 pm. "TV Details USF-Texas Tech is ESPN’s national game of the night on Saturday starting at 6:50 p.m. (ET). The game will be aired on ESPN2 in its entirety in the Tampa Bay region. DirecTV subscribers can watch the game on channel 733-1. Dish Network viewers can find the Bulls on channel 148 and on the EFC channel (465)." USF Athletics
  10. Doug called all the Big Ten schools to set up home-home deals. Here's the reply he received. "Sorry we are no longer scheduling cupcake games."!
  11. BBC Horizon Programme – The Creative Brain: How Insight Works IMO ADHD people probably are the greatest assets that got these universities all the research dollars and into the AAU I just watched a programme on the BBC i-Player – I doubt it’s available outside the UK, but it might come onto YouTube in the future. The programme was about the creative brain and insight. What drew my attention was the emphasis on slowing down the prefrontal cortex and frontal lobes and encouraging mind wandering to enhance the creative process. I naturally started to think of parallels here but no mention of ADHD was made in the programme….maybe I am off track but it was still interesting. I guess it would be nice to follow up the science and not just believe the TV. Anyway the gist of the programme……..The prefrontal cortex – main role is in conscious self-monitoring. Jazz musicians take risks musically and they shut down the prefrontal cortex when improvising. MRI scans were done of their brains whilst improvising on a keyboard. Cartoonists were also studied and they decrease prefrontal cortex activity when they switch from a non-creative phase to an improvised generative phase. So scientists think they can enhance these creative circuits because if we are to survive as a species we need to become more creative! Simone Ritter (scientist in the Netherlands) thinks that new experiences increase our creativity. She advises people to look for unexpected experiences so we can increase our creativity. That can be as simple as just disrupting a routine and that will give us room for creativity. So the effect of changing our routines changes our brains – forcing new connections between brain-cells resulting in more new and original ideas. (I thought that was interesting too – we ADHDers often seek out new experiences.) Mind wandering facilitates the creative process. (Again I thought that was interesting for obvious reasons.) But mind wandering that is involved with doing an undemanding task makes the creative process better. So taking a break and doing something that occupies the minds a bit but not fully, is best for allowing mind wandering and creativity…something like mowing the lawn. In the programme they asked people to come up with as many things they could do with a brick as they could think of. Then they had a 2-minute break – some had to sit and do nothing for 2-mins, others had to sort out some lego blocks into colours and some had to build a lego house. Those that had the sorting job came up with more new ideas for what they could use the brick for than those that did nothing or those that had to concentrate on building the house. So for creativity, mind wandering is good. When ideas are flowing freely the frontal lobe is apparently down-regulated. Those who solve problems with insight have lower frontal lobe activity and it’s this that helps you lose your inhibitions when doing something creative such as a jazz musician improvising. They called it releasing ones mental handcuffs. I thought this was fascinating. I don’t know if any links with ADHD are valid or not here, but I don’t see why not. Certainly a good number of us are pretty creative. I liked the idea of releasing ones mental handcuffs. Kind of ironic that scientists are finding ways for neurotypicals to release their mental handcuffs and yet some of us are looking for ways to put on the mental handcuffs. Obviously it’s all more complicated than my summary of a TV documentary suggests Is there a link for that? I found the cure for my problem with ADHD. I put bull-71 on ignore!
  12. Creation of 71's College of Exceptions for Athletes....sounds like a sure way for USF to kill any chance of ever receiving an invite from the AAU. I wonder how it would be viewed by SACS!
  13. +1010101002907810810829048209890144123441 ESPN/NBC literally put the most important schools in a group in writing and you're still in denial. What will it take to make some of you not so biased? It's a punch to the gut, but I'm not going to ignore it and spin it every way possible to make myself feel better. In YOUR opinion that's what those groups meant to NBC. NBC is not the end all be all of University worth and quality. Unless you were there when the contract was being written up, you have no idea. @usfvoodoo5 ESPN matched NBC's contract exactly. NBC owns Comcast. Comcast has regional sports channels in Philly and Houston. Thus UH and Temple are A Comcast does not exist in the Tampa market, at all. ESPN could not negotiate terms or change verbage in the contract, it was an "accept or pass" option. +1010101002907810810829048209890144123441 ESPN/NBC literally put the most important schools in a group in writing and you're still in denial. ESPN could not negotiate terms or change verbage in the contract, it was an "accept or pass" option. Plus, the Houston and Philly markets are larger than ours. You've got 2 in group A due to brand naming, based on history and 2 due to TV market. Neither reasons of which anybody at USF can do a thing about. I doubt Houston and Temple were put in group A because of market size, as neithwr of those schools comes close to owning its market. Like cincy and ucon, they were singled out for being bigger brand names than us. Temple is a second tier basketball brand while Houston is semi-known in both football and basketball. Both are clearly better known athletic programs than us. Size does matter!
  14. USF and UCF probably have two of the three largest football-if not overall-fanbases in the conference. Then the conference is in knee deep in poo.
  15. Brett McMurphy â€@McMurphyESPN If 2 teams from UConn, Cincy, Temple & UH leave; or 1 of those & 1 of remaining teams, new TV deal for former Big East can be terminated So it appears USF is not as valuable to ESPN as UConn, Cincy,Temple, or Houston. That could be why USF hasn't received an invite to join the big-boy conferences. Willie needs to get rid of the bus, and learn to pilot a jet!
