His point is correct.  No need to be rude towards players or coaches.  You can respectfully address your thoughts without picking on a collegiate player.

I agree with this 100%. I do my best to not be overly critical of college kids. To say a kid sucks or is terrible is unnecessary.

I understand that some of the posters are kids themselves, so perhaps that’s different.

But anyone over the age of 25-30 should refrain from saying a kid “sucks” or something similar.

    What he said

Bell knows what he is doing

The offensive scheme is fine. The personnel and the scheme are adjusting to each other. (Some players are not a good fit)

I agree Blake has happy feet and looks at the rush too much

McCloud needs to learn how to strap on his helmet.

Agreed, if I see that kids helmet come off one more time I’m going to lose it. That crap cost us a touchdown today. Putting BB back in at the goal line took the momentum away. The fumble wasn’t BB’s fault but it took the wind out of the sails.

    Strap the effing helmet!!!

In other words he is a bullshitter

Every organization needs two sides....Sales and Operations. Willie is a salesman....he needs great operations managers (coaches and coordinators).

He could have been great here for a long time had he stayed. We were on the verge and he left. Can’t blame him for the great opportunities he’s gotten, although I wish he’d stayed here.

CCS, CWT and CSH are all three peas in the same ****** pod arguing over any of them being better than one another is like arguing over AAC supremacy. We have had one football coach that tried to bring beauty into our ugly world and we killed him for it.

I do think that Taggart showed to be a very good recruiter. I’ll give him an edge over Holtz and Strong in that regard.

I think his in game coaching sucks.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda, but if Taggart understood his strength as a recruiter and hired great coordinators to call the games....and if he’d stayed here...he’d have clearly been the best of the three post Leavitt coaches.

It was a horrible performance no doubt. But the title of this thread is overreacting. The facts are that programs will rise and fall and nothing remains constant. But of course fans act like is the end of the world. I have my doubts on whether String is the guy to win here, but I also think this school, community and alumni need to step up if we really want to win consistently..

    1. That IPF needs to start to be build now. As proof that we are willing to step up

    2. Attendance is still an issue and Friday was another example of that.

    3. Mediocrity should not be tolerated. After 7 losses in a row String should be in the hot seat.

You say the title is over-reacting but you go on to make several posts that support the idea that it’s a legitimate question.

I am not saying that it IS damaged beyond repair. I was looking for opinions and I think it’s been a good discussion.

That said, our issues run very deep. Not the least of which is lack fan support and local interest which seems to be at an all time low. This is in a town that has an NFL franchise and two other major league sports franchises.

USF doesn’t have the luxury of continuous failures when trying to establish a brand and a loyal following. I want nothing more than to have USF Football to matter. But every year that the product looks like this, the further away from relevance we get.

I don’t envy our AD...very challenging situation he’s in. I hope he can figure it out. It’s going to take a lot.

  6. Scott Frost left UCF and they’ve not missed a beat. We lost Taggert and the wheels came off completely.

What young, hot prospect coach will want to come to this situation? It’s career suicide.

I feel like the next guy has to have some serious ties to the program from our best years. Someone that remembers what it was like when this program mattered and was exciting.

  7. As a 2001 graduate, I’ll always remember the juice and excitement that we once had. The “glory days” when everything was possible and the future was ahead of us. But man, it is getting harder and harder to remember those days.

We have fallen so far. It’s beyond disappointing. If USF Football was a publicly traded stock we’d have a chart that looks like JC Penney....on its way to $0.00.

It doesn’t matter where you come from, it matters where you are headed.....where is this program headed?

There have been many terrible things that have happened post Jim Leavitt...we all know what they are, but I think the worst is the rise of UCF.

If there is/was room and enough talent for another top tier foot program in this state (in addition to UF, FSU, UM)...there is only really room for one more.

USF was that program at one point. It’s now UCF. The gap is wide and it’s becoming wider. They have all the momentum, all the excitement, the national exposure and branding developing. USF has none of this. We have become irrelevant.

I have been watching Bay News 9 this morning to track Hurricane Dorian. The sports flashes come across the screen and.....ZERO mention of the USF game.

Not only are we completely irrelevant on a national scale. We are irrelevant in our own market. We are so bad even Bay News 9 has forgotten about us.

I’m not saying all this as a hater. I love my Alma Mater...I used to love USF football. I’m still trying to....but man it’s getting harder and harder. We are in REALLY BAD shape. I fear that we’ve fallen so far we that we won’t be able to dig out of the hole we are in.

If we we are truly as cash strapped as some allege then it may be time to re-evaluate everything.  If this University is not committed to competing at the highest level of football then it may be time to drop back to FCS.  It kills me to see programs with less have more and yes an OCS is a big part of that.  Yes, I know IPF first.  And before some say how much do I contribute?  I spend over a thousand dollars for club access tickets not because I want to see the Bulls play, hell I can probably get free tickets for just about any game, I do it as a donation.  If the appetite for major college football is not there amongst the University, the students, the alumni and the local community then stop pretending and drop back to FCS.  Put about 20k seats at Corbett and call it a day.  At least then, we’ll have a shot at a national championship.

This is exactly how I feel. If we are as poor and as broke as many on here say we are...this is what we should do.

I’m not “in the know” regarding USFs financial situation. Assuming that the guys on here really know what they are talking about and USF either can not or do not want to compete at the highest level we may as well drop back to FCS and build up the soccer stadium.

King at OC seems a popular thought on this board, but he has zero experience at that position that I know of. Seems kind of risky.

Any person in any position that takes a job for the first time had zero experience in that particular position prior to taking it. Weak argument.

  10. Great post and great follow up posts. Agree with everything said.

I woke up today thinking “what happened to our football program?”

There is so much wrong with it...the Holtz comparisons are very accurate. It just feels wrong. Everything feels bad right now.

I thinks it’s very obvious at this point that if nothing changes it’s only going to get worse. It’s very hard to see UCF doing what they are doing and watching us do what we are doing.

The idea that we are a package deal with UCF if/when a better conference comes calling is nothing we should take for granted right now. I hope this new AD is paying attention to EVERYTHING that’s going on.
