clearly you're not over it. you just compared him to a girl that cheated on you.

he took a better job. one that paid him 3 times what he was getting here. every single person on here would do the same. and if they say different then they aren't being honest.

I’m over Willie Taggart. I saw that same deer in the headlights, fish out of water face at FSU as I saw here. I am not a fan. He’s a snake oil salesmen that was figured out. If you want to ride his jock, feel free to. Let’s agree to disagree because you’ve bored me with this.

Why we wouldn't put Larry Scott, over Taggart blows my mind. Larry Scott as more experience in the USF Football program than the last 3 coaches combined. 4 years as an OG Player, 7 years as part of the coaching staff.

Larry Scott has been part of the USF Football Program for a combined 11 years! 11 YEARS!

Larry Scott was on the field at our first ever USF Football game as a player, was a part of the coaching staff for 7 years when we peaked in 2007.

Remember when we were ranked #2 in the country? Larry Scott was part of our coaching staff when that happened!

He went 4-1 as UM's Interim Head Coach (University of Miami Hurricanes), 4-2 if you count the bowl game.

The players loved him, the recruits loved him, the media loved him, the guy has got passion and he's an OG USF Football Alumni.

Taggart BAILED on us! Then he bailed on Oregon!

Look, I like Taggart. I watched him on the field in 1998 when he whooped our ass as a QB.

Our reputation is in the toilet as a program. We've had 4 coaches in 10 years.

Larry Scott has been on UF's Coaching Staff for 2 years, and the Gators are BY FAR the best program in Florida.

Take Taggart back? After he left us, left Oregon, and pooped the bed at FSU? Seriously?

Mark my words...Larry Scott is going to get hired as a head coach eventually, and he's going to be VERY good. So why not here?

We've given 3 post-Leavitt coaches a shot at running our team, 2 were terrible and 1 quit on us.

Excellent points. I can’t believe that Kelly would take Taggart back here. I like the idea of a true Bull as head coach. The pro-Taggart support is baffling to me.

It’s like taking a girl back that cheated on you and laughed as she did it....then she screwed the next guy over. The third guy realized he made a mistake with her and kicks her to the curb. Now she “wants” to come back to you. Give me a freaking break. Have some pride. Willie Taggart is not a Bull. He never has been and he never will be.

King = coached high school and was unsuccessful. Got out of coaching then did 7 on 7 and has been a position coach. Been average recruiting the bay and you want him as head coach. This board is crazy

You say he was an average recruiter...I read the the other day that he was the ace recruiter on the staff.

And I’ll say it again....I’m not saying King should be the coach. I never said he should be the coach.

I said that I’d rather have him than Willie Taggart. I’ll say it again. I’ll take Matt Grothe over Willie Taggart.I don’t want Willie Taggart here. Period. It would be a ****** hire.

Taggart + Leavitt. I would forgive all if this happened. If Willie gets to come home then he can bring the Jim.

All due respect....Jim Leavitt would never, ever work under Willie Taggart at USF. For the record, I am in the bring Leavitt back as head coach camp....I’m also in the never bring Taggart back camp....all this said it’s a long shot that Leavitt comes back at all...much less as an employee of Willie Taggart at the program he built. Head Coach or nothing for Leavitt.

Ya probably could come up with 1000s since most new HC hires are "proven" HC's.  Should we start naming the position coaches to HC failures?   Add in the old he's good, loyal guy and you got yourself some doozies.   (I know it's NFL, but the old Raheem Morris move by the Bucs still stings ....) . I'll still take my shot with CWT or Lane over Shaun King any day.   If MK agrees with you, then I'll hope like hell your both right, but I'm not buying it.

CWT will be a very bad decision. Period. I can live with Lane Kiffin. One thing that we agree on is that I believe that MK is a sharp guy that understands the gravity of this hire and I trust that he will make a good one. Therefore, I’m confident that it will not be Taggart.

They've both had success as HC's.  But I never said anything about Lane Kiffin and I'm not clamoring for anyone.  I trust MK to do his job in the hire, just like I trusted him to do his job in the firing of ccs.   I just can't imagine how someone would think Shaun King is a better option than proven HC's.

    He's a complete dope

“Proven” HCs are over-rated. Just ask......well just ask USF.

Skippy was a “proven” head coach when USF hired him. Charlie Strong was a “proven” head coach when Texas hired him...he was more “proven” when USF hired him.....I’m even willing to bet that FSU considered Taggart was a “proven” head coach when they hired him. How about Rich Rod’s failures after “proving” himself as a HC?

I could probably come up with 100 more examples, but I won’t.

Anyone else being considered with his resume and it would be laughable, but hey, it’s CWT, so it’s all good... SMH.

Dude looks like a deer in the headlights on the sidelines. He nearly destroyed the program until he let his old high school coach run things. I’d rather hire Joe Kinnan. He’s the brains of the operation.

JUST SAY NO TO SLICK WILLIE! I think Mike Kelly is way too smart to make this move. Beat it Willie!

    Resume:

10 years of head coaching experience.

0-1 in bowl games. (That’s right present for, 1 bowl game in 10 years and lost it).

    Overall record of 56-62.

One season of 9 wins or more.

    Zero conference championships won.

    Zero conference championships played for.

.... but yet, some are acting like CWT was our savior.  I just don’t get it.  We can do better.

I’m frankly pretty shocked at the level of support for Willie on here. No freaking way do I want him back. It would be a terrible, terrible decision.

I was one that thought it was time to move on from Leavitt, I was wrong. Wish we had kept him, I would be in favor of hiring him back as HC.

I owned up to this as well. I was one of the “he’s taken us as far as he can” guys. I was wrong. I took all of the early success for granted and wanted more...sooner that was realistic. He was a victim of his own success to a certain extent. The “incident” just made the decision easier for the previous administration.

I remember when we were so relevant that Espn broke into their coverage of an event to show the initial press conference of Skip Holtz. There was a large outdoor crowd with students and the band. Seems like a 2000 years ago. I don’t think that will happen again unless something crazy happens.

Exactly. I remember Grothe on Jim Rome....albeit one of the worst interviews ever LOL. Loved Grothe as a player, but he wasn’t the best interview.....but the point is that USF mattered. It was exciting. An upstart team from Florida with cool uniforms and a head coach that was head butting players before the game and slaying giants in the process. It was effing great to be a Bull. We had all the juice and we let it get away. This hire is absolutely critical and I believe Kelly knows it. I hope he makes the right decision.

  11. The fact of the matter at this stage of the game USF is in desperate need of a lot of things. Not the least of which is relevancy. This program has become completely irrelevant nationally and only slightly less relevant statewide and locally.

There is not a single possible hire, short of something ridiculous like Urban Meyer or someone like that, that would INSTANTLY make USF Football significantly more relevant and interesting. I think even the people at ESPN would pump it up. People that downplay the excitement of the way it was “back in the day” were either not a part of it, or just have some personal beef with Leavitt.

“ ‘Coach, we can’t wait to get back to No. 2 again!’ Taggart said.

“I’m like, you were No. 2 for a week.”

    yall want this clown back?

He’s proven to be spineless and will ditch us ASAP when other jobs come calling.

Fool me once, fool me twice.

    No Willie....horrible idea

The bottom line is this, if the boosters are calling for the rehire of Leavitt I believe MK will take a long look at making that happen. At the end of the day, USF needs more support and rehiring Leavitt may bring that.

I’m not connected to the program, so I have no insight in this area. I’d love to know how much support (or lack thereof) there really is among the donors that carry a lot of weight. How much support is there really for the idea?
