I can think of 5 other reasons.None of of them having to do with his dad. Sad that you can't.
Believe me knowing what I know now, I would choose USF 10/10 times over UF. However, for a/an 17/18 yr old kid who is receiving offers from the programs in the country with 100000000000000000x more tradition and history, how could you blame them for taking the offer? The fact that he gave us the shout out in his top 5 is good enough for me. That is the loyalty right there. He owes us nothing more.
Please give me 5 reasons why you would play football at USF over UF. No seriously, I'd love to hear them.
As a cornerback recruit:Mike Jenkins Mistral Raymond Kayvon Webster USF girls A chance to play immediately with coach Skip Holtz, loved by all and son of a legend.
Well, that was easy.
1.,2.,3.: Just because you dont know UF's DB names, doesnt mean they arent just as good. I doubt they know any of our DB names.
4. You arent comparing them to University of Idaho's girls. I love the girls at USF, but UF has plenty of bombshells.
5. CSH is great, but he is as accomplished as Will Muschamp.
I agree, we would have the momentum right now, but the truth is, we dont. We didnt win those years. In that same time frame, UF won a National Championship.
The history and tradition IS overblown, but for a 17/18 year old recruit who only knows what he sees on ESPN and from his visits to campus, that history and tradition carries INCREDIBLE weight. The coaches play that perfectly as well. You better believe they make that pitch to every single recruit.
When you're a top100 recruit, there is almost an expectation to play at a USC, Notre Dame, FSU, Texas, Okla, etc. Historically, that is where those players have gone. USF isnt there yet. Not that many kids dream in green and gold(to quote the billboard seen in Tampa) yet. It is certainly improving every day, but the top100 players in the country for the most part, dream about winning national championships with the historically great programs. That is why these programs can go 2-10 and still have a top10 recruiting class. Our time will come.
As for your point about Boise and UO, the history and tradition dont matter on the field, the best team will win the game at the end of the day. They have all the momentum right now because they are winning. USF had a top25 recruiting class according to ESPN in 2008, the year after we were ranked #2. So your point is made. However, I am referring to recruiting. We went 5-7 last year, 1-6 in the Big East. Florida, while having a pretty bad season by their standards, still made a bowl game and beat another storied program in OSU. I think VH3 would have had us higher is we had another 8+ win season with a bowl win against a BCS opponent. The truth is, we didnt....so he didnt.
