What stood out to me in the comments is when Golesh mentioned that Byrum was actually the one who suggested to coach that they should go for more deep balls. Was this akin to the Quinton flowers let him cook moment with Taggart?

I think sometimes the players can see things the coaches can’t since they are there in the action.

Yeah, I'm here. I'm sure the numbers will day 30k or something tickets distributed, but I think actual attendance is under 10k. I mean, we are playing rice, but I thought there would still be more.

Our conference is killing our program.

  3. My position has always been that athletes should be employed and receive the same benefits that graduate students do.

A graduate student package often includes full tuition, and a monthly salary. When I was in graduate school ten years ago I received full tuition and $1700/mo ($20,400/yr). I lived on that with roommates and still had money left over to buy cheap plane tickets to visit my long distance girl friend (now wife). I don’t know why this was never considered.

Player endorsement and compensation arrangements aren’t the real problem.

I honestly think the penalty free transfer rules are more harmful to the stability of the sport than NIL or player compensation.

How can a team be built if all of the athletes enter free agency every year? And can select new teams every season? It’s a mess. There should be limits on transferring.

Did you ever think we were going to score on them? A pick 6 was our only chance. Never thought we were going to win the game.

Had we kicked field goals it easily could  have been 10-9. But it’s hard to win without getting a touchdown, I think going for TDs was the right call.

  5. Top 90…!

We were like 180s when I enrolled.

    Proud to be a bull!

I think this years ranking adjustments were more favorable to public schools and hurt private schools.

For example, Wake Forest dropped from 29 to 47. Oof!

“””According to the publication, the new version of the rankings puts more emphasis on helping students move up in society and on college graduate outcomes, such as proportion of the college's graduates that earn more on average than high school graduates.

The ranking factors that were dropped this year include class size, proportion of faculty with terminal degrees, alumni giving, proportion of graduates borrowing, and high school class standing.”””

Seems we would be best suited to join our elite academic brethren in either the ACC or B1G. Big 12 and the Mountain 12 are below us for sure. Even most of the SEC is below us.

I’d rather play in the SEC for the matchups, but probably the ACC would be a little easier to win the conference.
the SEC is bringing in all of the best competition so there can only be one winner.

When it comes to realignment - the academic side actually does matter in most cases. USN&WR released rankings this morning - USF tied at 89 overall and 45 for publics. Here's how that compares to other conferences. We would be first in the B12 (lol, even with addition of AAU 4C schools), tied for second to last in the ACC (ahead of only Louisville and tied with SMU), and fourth to last in the B1G (ahead of Nebraska, Oregon and Iowa). SEC, we'd slot in at #6. Other notables are FSU (53 overall and 31 in publics) and UConn (58 overall).

2024 U.S. News "Best Colleges" rankings for National Universities among the Ivy League, Big Ten (B1G), SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac-12 (Pac-2), and Mountain West (MWC) conferences

This tells me Academics aren’t that important.

All of our former AAC conference mates who left were lower than us by USNWR ratings. The SEC took Missouri and Oklahoma.

The Big 12 clearly only cares about football.

Why is the American conference left off of this?

Here is the problem I see. In Golesh system you run the ball and throw deep.

We lack the WRs to get open deep and OLine to give QB enough time. So

#1 Does he stick with his offense and as he says keep building for future.

    or

#2 Does he adjust his offense to deal with current talent.

I believe Taggart also faced that question early on.

You’ve got to adapt to your talent to win.
