  1. The new BE isn't shut out any more than the ACC is, based on what we know so far.

    Not true unfortunately:

Q: How much will the new playoff format be worth and how much will each conference receive?

A: The current BCS model is worth about $180 million annually and estimates for the new playoff model will be at least double that -- $360 million annually. The commissioners still have to determine how that money is divided up, but this much we know: the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and ACC will get the biggest shares. CBSSports.com reported Monday that the revenue split will be based on the league's past performances, specifically Top 25 finishes in the final BCS rankings since 1998, the first year of the BCS. The past participation model is one way to justify the Big Five conferences receiving the majority of the money. Other elements under consideration include market share value. Under the current system, each of the power conferences received a minimum of $22.3 million. In the new model, I wouldn't be surprised if the five power leagues receive at least $50 million annually. The other leagues -- Big East, Mountain West, Conference USA, Mid-American and Sun Belt -- will get much smaller shares than the Big Five, but more than the $2.64 million they each receive now. The Big East, which received $22.3 million in the current system, is no longer considered an elite conference and will not get the same as the Big Five leagues in the future format. However, they could get an amount much less than the Big Five, but more than the remaining non-power conferences. This is still to be determined. Also, each conference will receive additional revenue for each team it qualifies in the national semifinals.

Q: Will the "little guys" from the non-power leagues have a shot at playing in the national semifinals?

A: Sure, but any team from the Big East, Mountain West, Conference USA, etc., will have to go 12-0 or, at worst, 11-1 and hope the power leagues don't have four teams with similar records. Again, strength of schedule will be a big emphasis point with the committee, so it will boil down to how a Big East/MWC/C-USA champion, facing a much easier conference schedule than the big boys, compares with the elite teams from the power conferences.

guess how many ACC teams would have qualified in the last 10 years if we go by BCS rankings before bowls?

    1

    #3 v -tech 2007-2008

    guess how many BE teams?

    1

    #3 cincy 2009-2010

this list does not include miami as they were big east members at the time.

guess how many BE members have played for the MNC in that time?

    0

again doesn't include miami as a BE member.

this system is better for us. adding 2 teams gives us a better chance. how is that not obvious??

While I agree the playoff is better, we'll just have to see how the money is shared in the end.

I don't understand how they claim to be doubling the value of the BCS with this change.

... The current BCS model is worth about $180 million annually and estimates for the new playoff model will be at least double that -- $360 million annually...

Where do they pull these figures from?

Also from the Q&A it sounds like possibly the Big East could be the only conference to make less money in the new system, and only because the other power conferences chose the arbitrary number five instead of six. Why not 2 or 4 or 7? It's an obvious move to damage the Big East.

  2. Incidentally, the NCAA team isn't all that large. Even the Maddon team is only about 50 folks, if I recall correctly. That includes testers and artists, etc. The NCAA team was smaller until the past year.

Bottom line is that there are probably a half dozen people or less that decide and/or review the team and player ratings. As long as the Crimson Tide and Longhorn's of the world are happy, EA management isn't going to force anyone ot make sure all the ratings are realistic and unbiased.

I believe the conspiracy. NCAA makers all wear mouse goggles (ears?)

  3. One of the other pictures actually has a viking that looks a lot like the Minnesota vikings logo if you google them.

My highschool usee the new england patriots mascot/logo, and then when my high school installed a turf feild and track they wanted to use the symbol in the center of the field and requested permission from the patriots, but the patriots didn't let them claiming they didn't want people to think there was an association between themselves and the high school.

  4. Ray Jay hold over 65,000 in its current configuration. When the Super Bowls are here they expand the End zones with portable seating given them over 10,000 more. That puts them over 75,000 seats for the game.

    http://en.wikipedia....d_James_Stadium

I Was at the Baltimore/Giant Superbowl. Was neat to see the extra seating it the endzones.

The Ship stayed, they just built around it. Ill try to find a Pic of it for you to show you.

From the wiki page: "The dispute continued for months until December 2003, when the county legally declared the stadium a condominium and took ownership."

    a condominium lol what?

  5. Sued for what? And how would u prove it?

The AD from Boston College provided quotes that would provide more than enough ammunition to drive discovery. ESPN had a contract with the BE and conspiring to devalue the BE at the same time. That's a definite no no.

    +1

  6. I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt the Big East to have invited UCF along with TCU, but we can't know if it would have been a difference maker.

Placing the blame on Genshaft doesn't make sense is for two reasons, 1) the other members could have voted UCF in with enough votes and 2) Pitt was the University leading the refusal of the TV contract.

Two questions arise then... 1) If UCF was included would the conference (and more importantly Pitt) have accepted the TV right offer? and from that 2) Then why wasn't there enough support for UCF from other conference members to vote them in even if USF were a "no" vote?

By implying that UCF's exclusion is the reason Pitt and Cuse left it is also implying that with UCF's inclusion Pitt would have been in favor of accepting the TV deal and not against it.

  7. to me it says the ville has a foot out the door...

jurich would make the most sense for that post.

You see what the B12 is doing. They are stacking these natural rivalries against the SEC to make themselves more viable. they now have:

    Kansas vs Mizzou

    Texas vs TAMU and

UL vs UK would be pretty enticing

I don't think A&M and Mizzou leaving their conference is the best way to stack rivalries. Aslo, Texas and TAMU are not scheduled to play each other next year. So that rivalry may be dead for now.

  8. Thank you for the great photos. I really like the one from the collins garage capturing the city and busch gardens in the same shot.

The tree is one of my favorite features of campus.

Texas A&M has a similar tree called the century tree that has a fun tradition behind it.... and it looks almost identical shown below.

    318723_224127767643862_201783799878259_630102_246703828_n.jpg

The story with the tree is that if you walk under it with your lover you will be together forever and if you walk under it alone you will be alone forever. So you will see people sometimes go out of their way to avoid it if they are walking alone. On the flip side lots of guys propose to their future wife under it. Also there is a $100,000 scholarship fund that is fully supported by selling seedlings from the tree for $250. Here is the facebook link, it was a really great a idea by the person who started it. https://www.facebook...turyTreeProject

I'm sure given time the tree at USF will become a campus icon just have beautiful trees have on other campuses.

  9. Wow, I just graduated in May but some of these pictures are making me miss USF already. I'm glad to see they roped off the seal in the Marshall Center. And I also graduated just in time to miss using the new rec center and the engineering renovations.

And now the main entrance has fountains in the median. This years incoming freshman are going to be enjoying a spectacular campus after all of these upgrades.
