That was the last call up. There's no G5 with near the sustained success of the 4 who went, especially in this half of the country. Memphis probably comes the closest. If there are promotions in the next several years, it'll be driven by factors not as cut and dried as sustained on the field success.
For USF, I think it is sustained success and building the brand.

Everyone else had sustained success, so if we got a call after a year or two I would be shocked.

Is he gonna be able to do it once all his KSU kids age out?

Tampa Bay University sounds like a it is run out of a crappy plaza.
Buy UT, then we can be the UT Bulls and completely meme Texas.

The remaining ACC Big 12 members merging would be our worst case scenario. Don't think it would happen though since if the ACC implodes, The Big 12 will have a leg up since it has more teams, and wouldn't want teams like Boston College, CAL, SMU, Syracuse, and Wake Forrest. Pitt, North Carolina State, and Louisville I can see. It will all depend as to how many teams the ACC loses; it cant be a mass exodus for them .However, I do believe the ACC is likely to remain in some form, and I think they will look at USF, Tulane, Memphis, Boise State, and San Diego State to replenish.
The part where they believe that Miami will be a main target is great for us since I assume the ACC will want a Florida team.
All these mid\low tier P5 teams should be freaking out right now. They are about to become the have nots.

They don’t but they probably realize that they need to let it happen or risk the big ten swooping in and grabbing FSU, Miami, & USF making Florida big ten country……
If the NFL can support multiple teams in a state so can a conference.

That is what college students do, the chant is epic and when used properly can be very effective and fun. You guys are all sticks in the mud.
I don't have a problem with them doing it. However, you do it when there isnt a chance of a comeback.
I miss the old days in football when we jingled the car keys.

Overrated chant was moronic with 10 min left. Inexperienced fans will do it and it almost cost the game.

Somewhat like SMU, FSU is smart getting in front of this. They'll get what they want.

No fault of their own?
It is precisely their own fault nobody wants them. Feelings getting the way of facts.

CAG won't be poached this year but assuming another big step up next year with a 3rd year RS Junior QB is going to make him a very attractive target for a ton of schools because they probably assume they can land both CAG and BB17.
As far as beating Bama, we shall see. As was stated, DeBoer is unusual-he has won everywhere he's gone and is an exceptionally successful HC. Most HC get the job after one big stint at a smaller school, or massive achievement (real or not) as a top-level assistant. CAG was an assistant who killed it wherever he went. DeBoer is an HC who has killed it wherever he went.
I do think we have a legitimate shot to beat them if they continue to bleed talent, but they were still trying to figure everything out when they came to Tampa last year and still had a great defense. They will reload their defense this year. You need to hope our WR corps and OL takes another big step up this year to have a shot. Fortunately, Deboer and staff haven't faced a CTO defense which works in our favor-it's always a pain to deal with the first time you see it.
The best part about Goach is how much **** he talks about Ames...he obviously cannot stand **** holes in the middle of nowhere. So, I feel good about him sticking around and only legit good schools taking him.

NFL in advanced talks with ESPN to acquire equity stake
THEATHLETIC.COM
ESPN and the league already have a working relationship, with the network purchasing the rights to 25 NFL games.College is unofficial at this point, but just wait...

Saban's retirement will be good for CFB. Already seeing kids enter the transfer portal and GA can't take them all.

Not a chance the Big12 would take any of those teams before Miami.

odd then that fsu has the money to retain even though they are in acc....kind of derails his argument
Notre Dame lost a coach and they have all the money in the world.
They do now, but in the future it gets exponentially harder with P2 money.

lol SEC has won 6 of the 9 college football playoffs. they have 3 different national champions in the past 9 years. sure the sec isn't strong.....
like I said Georgia was missing 20 players including an nfl olineman, their top receiver, a 5 star DE etc.
they beat fsu by 60 points
exposed tn....even their new baby TX.

The big 12 isn't strong. it benefited ou tremendously to play in such a weak conference just as it benefited fsu to play in a weak conference. look at their results in the playoffs. 0-4 since 2014 with 3 losses against sec teams.
fsu will be a mediocre program in the sec. they haven't been any good in the last decade and they won this year with transfers and a weak conference. texas and ou will have nowhere near the same success.there are just too many top notch programs to be consistently good.
georgia exposed fsu yesterday with their depth. please don't bring up that fsu was missing so many players. georgia was missing 20 players including their top receiver, an o-lineman first round nfl pick, a 5 star DE and other starters.fsu will have to compete week in and week out with these type of programs.
this lsu program that you keep bringing up has played in the college football playoffs once in the last 10 years.
People keep bringing up FSUs depth bc it's relevant. Entire front 7 plus freshmen everywhere else and a third string qb. FSU wont be going to the SEC it will be the big ten.
You keep saying how everyone isnt strong, but the thing is neither is the SEC. It was Bama for the longest time and it is cycling to different teams. Clemson was able to step up and challenge them and now Georgia is the team.
Lay off the $EC kool-aid.

I’m feeling pretty good about next year…top g5 recruiting class…lots of our best players still have eligibility/are returning…haven’t heard about a lot of guys transferring out…if we are going to win a conference championship, this could b our year…we have to win out so we can get an invite to a p5(4?) league!
I like 25' as our shot. Got Boise, Miami and Florida on the schedule. 3rd year in the system and the yound D recuits have a year to get stronger and we can fill the last holes with transfers.

Top G5 teams are in a better position than a mid to low tier P5 teams until something changes.

It probably means a lot more to those pursuing an academic degree as opposed to some old dudes that sit around wanting entertainment from college boys/minor league athletes.
I'd say it would mean more to students and the school if the team finished in the top 25 for a half decade or more than moving up 10 spots in the US New rankings.

It is insane 20 teams are calling the shots here. Plenty of universities have money outside of them.
The literally 100 other teams could boycott them.
