What? You seriously think USF is a better option for him if he wants to go to the NFL than a team that many believe have a legit shot at the NC game? Seriously? We were 81st in rushing offense last year, UL was 99th. I'd bet that we'll be just a little better at carrying the ball this year. He'll still get more positive pub on an 11-1 team going to major bowl game than a 7-5 team going to the St Pete Bowl. NFL teams don't care nearly as much about stats as fans do. To a certain extent, the NFL doesn't care where you play. For that, Walter Payton, Chris Johnson and many others are grateful.

If you were baffled by the ending sentence, that means he is headed to the NFL...us or otherwise. It's not that hard to follow.

So we are his safety net if he can't get an offer from Louisville? I'm pulling for the USF RBs on the team. I don't care if he comes to USF or not; I've wasted enough time on this guy. I care about the players who want to be at USF! It does make me start to think "good luck elsewhere...you'll regret not taking Taggart's offer". But that's the baby in me, and I'm trying to quell the SOB.

This may or may not have anything to do with this but Charlie Strong is from Arkansas. It may come down to Strong v Taggart, or Lville better odds of a great season v USF's near certainty of being the featured back, with 250+ carries and a resume for the NFL (I really don't expect him to play anywhere > one year, unless he's really intent on getting a 4 year degree).

He should do what's best for him, just as most of do when job hunting. If it's mutually best for both of us, he'll be here. For now, we assume we don't have him, and get ready for smash mouth in 6 weeks...and we can be pleasantly surprised if he comes to USF. I'm hoping Shaw, and one of the incoming freshmen, step up. I like McCray, and think he's got a shot to contribute early.

I'm sure he gets scouts, by virtue of the attention Harris gets.

Did we need more room? I thought we were ok because someone dropped back a class due to grades. I don't think dropping a walk on does much for room...and I don't think is news, as Data points out, this is just likely updating to show where he's headed. Good luck to him.

This is good news. No denials from Dyer Camp despite the enormous amount of press. The paperwork, ordering the ankle bracelet and process takes a few days at least, My lottery day for announcement is tomorrow. If this wasn't moving forward, someone would have quashed the rumor by now. I think you're right, BW...radio silence is good. Haven't seen any news of him visiting other schools. So, maybe Taggart hooked him. Even a one & done could be awesome...and MAYBE Shaw takes a redshirt? Or, we may have enough young talent that Shaw just winds up the perennial back up.

My only reservation is not knowing how good our line will be. Reiter is our best young OL, or perhaps Eatmon. If others step up, we could be pretty good up front. Losing Popek hurts, but that's life in the NCAA. I would not be surprised at all to see Dyer average 125 or more at USF...if we can get him here & on the field. Very quiet all around...but I'm guessing he needs to decide pretty soon, as classes start next month.

You're twisting it a bit, but backpedalling is ok. You compared him to the Ford optimism, and people pointed out that Ford was a 5 star with no college experience then, and Dyer was a stud for a National Championship team...surely you can see the HUGE difference people are pointing out. As to the "follow the rules" adder, that's a given...most of us reserve final judgement till they actually get on the live grass & "do something". A few will be giddy at the prospect, but that's ok, too. I don't think we're annointing his as savior, but there is no doubt he has the potential to take our offense from a C to a B+. If he gives us anything like his first 2 years, we're WAY better with him (assuming no off field troubles). I realize we have to block for him, and have other weapons (Cam Newton surely helped him, and vice versa)...but I also realize he won't be running v SEC teams if joins USF (until our bowl game at least...dare to dream).

I read the same level of optimism when Ford came on board. And lots of other guys. I'll let CWT do his job and get the best available talent. I'll get excited about the players that actually produce, not the ones I imagine will produce in my mind. Lots of five stars bust, lots of two stars shine. Prove it. The point was...Dyer has ALREADY produced at the highest stage in college football. Ford never did. Dyer will still have to produce for us (or whoever), but it's not like he's a 5 star HS and no one knows if he can succeed in college. This guy is a likely NFL player, if he plays & acts smart. He's not Ford, or Aycock...or even D Scott.

That's an impressive read. Anyone who reads this, and still doesn't want him here isn't being very conservative (in my opinion)...again, that assumes he passes the Coach Taggart smell test, not our "only what we read" assessment. This guy could elevate our program and get us 7-8 wins, assuming the rest of the team shows up strong.

Did you poll to find out if most don't. I am willing to go with Coach Taggart thinks, not with the knuckleheads on this board. Might want to go back and read his post again... I can't think of anyone who would "like" the baggage (consider it a positive rather than a negative). Jupiter said he would still be willing to give him the chance despite the baggage. Thanks for the translation help. No one should "like" the baggage, but I defer to Coach Taggart (I suppose I could've been more clear on the latter, but not sure how to be more clear on the former). But yes, there will be issues to overcome, but I believe he'd be a tremendous boost to our team.

I don't like the baggage, as most don't. But this is an area of desperate need, and if Coach Taggart can connect with Dyer, and convince Dyer that he will start & star here, on scholarship, if he stays out of trouble and does fairly well in class, then I think this could be a HUGE get for our Bulls. Having Dyer on board won't thrill Shaw or the incoming freshmen, but that's life in competitive sports. If Dyer has a monster season, he may be a "one & done"...but that's not a bad thing, if we at least get one monster season out of him (imagine him running all over UM and Lville...if our line can give him some gaps, he'll be our next 1,000 yard rusher, and SERIOUSLY take pressure off the QB, and open up play action for Price, Davis, Dvo and the team). A stud RB can transform an offense, and we need it.

Any idea on when he expects to commit? Is this for 2013, or 2014?
