I think college degree is a requirement for employment in that position here so they couldn't have hired him at that point.
from his UT-Chatt bio:
QuoteMcCall completed his undergraduate degree in exercise and sports science in 2004. His master’s work in the same concentration was accomplished in May 2006.
http://gomocs.com/coaches.aspx?path=mbb&rc=474
he came up under Mike Jarvis at FAU, and Billy D at Florida...he completed his first season as Head Coach at UT-Chatt, taking them 29-6 with an NCAA tourney.

You do realize that Shaka's been at Texas for a couple years now?
yep. It was just an example (I was thinking Will Wade)...or Nevada (Musselman)
I don't see Shaka getting fired this season.

the Calipari tree produces poison fruit.
Bruiser Flint...fired from Drexel
Steve Roccaforte...fired from Lamar
Tony Barbee...fired from Auburn
Orlando Antigua...fired from USF

USF won't get a coach away from VCU when you're going to struggle just to get to .500 in conference.
Matt McCall, Joe Dooley, maybe Dave Rice (he's looking for a fresh start, currently Assoc HC at Nevada)
Murry Bartow also wouldn't be a bad choice.

Does the guy have a college degree?
yep...and he played (edit: Team Manager) for Billy D at UF
that said, I would have hired Masiello and told him to finish his degree at USF during that off season...then USF would have a better coach, and he would be a grad.

I was hard on the Antigua hire because he's a recruiter, not a coach...you now have a really good Xs and Os coach in Murry Bartow (son of Gene Bartow)
USF needs to hire Matt McCall from UT-Chatt...former asst at Florida and FAU...young guy, won 29 games last season.

This way my first trip to Ray Jay for a bulls game...I guessed 15k
if USF could double up their fan attendance, they would have a solid atmosphere.

Anyway, Marshall was better than Memphis (top vs top) and head to headvthey were better too. How is it that a conference we got to pick from is now better? Hmmm. What is our OOC record this year you guys
I guess you missed where Marshall lost to WKU and went 11-20 in hoops?

I wanted to jump through the screen and bash #12 from BYU. He's going to get expelled probably.
We took care of it...
10-3...AAC Champs...Miami Beach Bowl Champs...Post-Game Fight Champs!!!

Lose, lose and win most likely. Same results as Memphis this year. I don't see your point. Memphis gets a pretty soft AAC schedule this year missing UCF and ECU. Look at the last 6 opponents you play and then get back to me.
I really like to see what USF could do to UCLA, Ole Miss, or even Middle Tennessee State. So basically the model is next year we can be in a lot more games and by 2016 we have to hope the schedule is soft enough where we can make waves in the AAC?
OK. Memphis features wins @Cincy, MTSU, and @Temple along with close L's to UCLA and Mississippi.
I certainly won't apologize for Memphis being 8-3 (6-1)
I wonder how much fun your board was last year when you were 3 - 9? Were your fans patient or screaming for Fuentes' head?
Not at all, but we're a hoops school, and Fuente's teams made progress in the view of the fans.
on the other hand Josh Pastner has won 130 games in 5 seasons, and taken Memphis to 4 straight NCAA tourneys...many of our 'fans' are ready to fire him for the sin of not being John Calipari.

Really reminds me of the old Sombrero, after they filled in the endzones but before they built RayJay...
I wonder if they have the same architect?

Hate to bring this up but is the Liberty Bowl on or next to campus?

With a postseason trip secured, the University of Memphis football team has moved on to its next quest: winning an American Athletic Conference title.
The Tigers enter Saturday’s AAC home game against South Florida with a 7-3 overall record and a 5-1 league mark. With wins over South Florida (4-6) Saturday and UConn (2-7) next weekend, the U of M will finish no worse than in a tie for the title.
Oh, and there’s that eighth win, too. If the Tigers beat USF, they’ll be an 8-win team for the first time since 2004 and for only the third time since 1973...
The crowd: Tiger officials are pushing hard to encourage a huge gathering at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Having won four straight, including three on the road, the Tigers are hoping to approach the 46,378 who bought tickets to the Sept. 20 Middle Tennessee State game. Bowl officials like strong fan support. So do potential Power Five conference suitors.

Also, I assume youre going to the game tomorrow. Game is at 3, so come early and get lunch. (And walk around Tiger Lane)
If you want more BBQ, Central BBQ is right there by the stadium on Central...if you're through with the BBQ, try Soul Fish Cafe at Cooper-Young...C-Y is maybe 4 mins from the stadium.

another option is Steve Forbes (guy who replaced Murry Bartow at ETSU)
took Northwest Florida State to a record of 61-6 in his 2 seasons there...back-to-back NJCAA runner up.
asst coach under Bruce Pearl and Gregg Marshall.
took ETSU to a record of 24-12 last season.
