From today's TBTimes.
COACHING UPDATES: Duke assistant Steve Wojciechowski reportedly interviewed for Marquette's coaching job. Wojciechowski, 37, was a Duke guard from 1994-98 and has been on the Blue Devils' staff since 1999. He has never been a head coach at any level. … Washington State hired Ernie Kent, who four years ago was fired by Oregon. Ken Bone was fired. From 1997 to 2010 Kent took the Ducks to five NCAA Tournaments, including two trips to the Elite Eight. … IUPUI hired former Arizona star Jason Gardner as coach. Gardner was a Memphis assistant. … New Mexico coach Craig Neal signed a two-year extension through 2019-20.
So, Marquette is talking with an Assistant coach? Holy crap. USF is being roasted by some for doing that. The Marquette people must be going crazy.
IUPUI is talking with a Memphis Asst? Wow. What are these schools thinking talking with assistant coaches? Couldn't they get Bruce Pearl, Billy Donovan, Roy Williams? These schools must be completely crazy and have no brains at the AD or school President positions.
Never good to compare one's program to IUPUI.
Actually I'd love to get Stan Heath on staff...he'd be a fine asst coach for Memphis. (knows the AAC)

I love how many, "experts" we have on here. The guy played at Pittsburgh and has coached at Pittsburgh, Memphis, and Kentucky! Three of the best basketball programs out there.
Tony Barbee, Steve Roccaforte, Chuck Martin, Bruiser Flint...all failed coaches from the Calipari tree.
Kellogg is the only one that's done OK.
Cool Story Bro.
Not if you're a USF fan, bro.
Someone's still bitter that Calipari dumped his school for UK. I'd ask Coach Cal for comment but he is prepping for the final four (again).
Memphis has been a disappointment since it parted ways with Calipari too.
Uh, we could have hired Antigua, Barbee, or Kellogg...there's very good reason we didn't.
If I were angry at Calipari, why would I be upset you hired one of his asst coaches? You didn't hire Cal.
Guess i don't follow that "logic"
The 'logic' says you care enough to post on this thread when it doesn't really relate to anything Memphis other than the fact that Calipari once coached there and we have now hired his assistant. Therefore, the Calipari assistant bashing makes you like you are holding a grudge.
The fact that you responded so seriously to my 'Cool Story Bro' pretty much shows you that 'logic' as well.
I guess you didn't get the memo...the BE is dead...you share a conference with us...we beat you in football and basketball...and I was kinda hoping you guys would get a good coach.
Hell, Houston is about to hire Kelvin Sampson.

Who cares if people from Memphis & East Carolina are laughing? I'm more interested in seeing what this guy can bring to USF. At least as a former player, and I guy used to winning, he should bring some positives. On the AAC board, USF is getting laughed at. Why does this not surprise me.
Coaching search was a debacle from the beginning to the end!
Look at his bio in Wiki...this guy have overcome a lot, and I'm getting behind him and supporting the new hire. Everyone can laugh all they want...and hopefully get silenced.
He only coached at Memphis for several years...what would we know?
-
AAC fans react to USFs hire...
-
why?Ouch...sorry to hear that.
The fact he's a jerk who can't coach a lick...
Cal tried to force him and Tony Barbee on us when he bolted...glad we didnt fall for it.
Musselman was the guy USF should have hired...good luck.

Ouch...sorry to hear that.

Orlando will be the next Tony Barbee...go with Musselman.

11 NCAA tourney credits, worth 17.6 million over the next 6 years.
5 bowl games paying out 23 million.
Not a bad first season for the AAC.
-
Musselman - Head Coach
Roccaforte - Associate Head Coach
DO IT!!!

2003: Golden State 38-44
2004: Golden State 37-45
2007: Sacramento Kings 33-49
2011: Reno (NBA DL) 34-16
2012: LA (NBA DL) 38-12
Spent the last 2 years at Arizona State learning how to recruit...
He could be a really solid hire.

BC is the only thing preventing UCONN from getting an invite to the ACC
ACC got everything they could hope for with Louisville and ND...with their GOR the ACC has no reason to expand.
-
Both guys make 500k
Michael White wants the Mississippi job BAD...and they're fed up with Kennedy.
-
Tyndall and White seem to be waiting for a top-25 job to come along...
-
Frank Underwood or bust.
God help the AAC, lol
Any updates?
-
You were never in the running with Pearl...no way Drew picks USF over Baylor...Rick Stansbury??? lol, wut?
-
There is probably a reason someone who is 50 yrs old just got his first Div I head job. Plus sick of the one hit wonders becasue of one win in the tourney and a great record in one of the worst confrences in America. IF this is the route you think USF should go I think Bob Marlin current head men's basketball coach at University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a better choice. But I still think USF can do better then both of these guys. But with this debacle, I'm not so sure anymore
Steve MasielloCraig NealDave RiceBrad Underwood
John Pelphrey
Derek Kellogg (doubt he leaves UMass)
Donnie Tyndall and Mike White seem happy to wait around for a top-25 job to come calling.
-
Dodge City Community College, where he led the Conquistadors to a 62-60 record from 1988-93
Impressive
That was his first hoops job back in 1988...I'd focus on what he's done the past 10-12 years...which is win.
-
70-24 at Daytona Beach CC (2003-2006)
32-3 at Stephen F Austin this season.
Makes less than 300k at SFA
-
He should worry about recruiting...not bars and golf.

Those are the only programs with pedigree in the AAC
You must not know about the guy at SMU with an NBA title, NCAA title, top recruit in the nation, and a renovated 40 million dollar arena they pack out...
He said programs with pedigree, not coaches ... If I was a Memphis fan, I'd be pissed at someone lumping their basketball pedigree with SMU. Hell, USF has a better pedigree over the last 20 years than SMU does.
I'm a big Larry Brown fan...REALLY happy he's in the AAC.
Hope you guys get it done with SM

I'd rather lose in the "play-in" round of the NCAAs over making the NIT...there's a reason its called the "big dance"
