  1. From what I remember, Gunsby was a guy that Holtz and crew were recruiting from their ECU days that flipped to us when Holtz came over. So, i guess you can say that he is "C-USA - level" talent.. but at this point, with the Big East the way it is, I think he has enough to be competitive in conference. I don't think the BCS conferences are completely Head & Shoulders above the mid-majors like C-USA in terms of talent (with the exception of maybe the SEC). again, it all comes down to coaching and I think Holtz and crew don't want to mess this Gunsby kid up, even if its during a transition period. And like he says, he doesn't like the idea of "baptizing" a kid into college football on the road in hostile environments against conference foes. Its hard enough to do it, even with knowing the playbook inside & and out. We don't know if he will be the savior, but i'm willing to bet he is better than what Leavitt left us at the helm I think Gunsby is better than CUSA talent. He is gifted size wise, and from the little bit of film and in person snaps i saw of him he has good vision and seemingly good knowledge of defenses. If im not mistaken he was injured his Senior year in HS which may have allowed him to slide under the radar. Guys that are 6'4 230 and run 4.5s that throw a good accurate ball are hard to come by. Holtz recruited him to ECU so i have to believe he likes what he sees in him and thinks he can be our future QB.
  2. I don't like the idea of wasting his Redshirt this late in the season and would prefer to switch it up and try Eveld before coming to that. But here is my assessment of Gunsby. I was able to make it over to Vero Beach and see Gunsby practice and play in the scrimmage and while it was against his own teammates he seemed quite legit. Gunsby was capable of making all the throws asked of him, had exceptional mobility and stayed in the pocket making throws while being rushed and hit. He is a big kid around 6'4 230lbs running a sub 4.5 or so. While watching him in live scrimmage he seemed rather calm and poised reading the field quite well and above a freshman level imo. On most of his improvised scrambling I couldn't tell if it was because of no where to throw or being quick to tuck and run, but when he did take off he gained positive yards and was a beast to bring down. It was like night and day between him and BJ in Vero. I could have sworn Daniels was the Freshman and Gunsby was the third year Soph starter. Laugh and say what you will but I will make the statement that Gunsby reminds me of Cam Newton. He may not be as calm and cool as him (yet) but his physical presence reminds me of him on the field.
  3. Can we get an Admin/Mod to make this a sticky please!
  4. Sounds like a good cause. I think this thread should be a sticky at the top.
  5. Wow i knew we were young and inexperienced at WR but i had no clue we had that many Freshman and Sophomores. The future is bright at the WR position.
  6. Before you call someone a terrible pickup, why don't you reserve your judgment until their career @ USF is over. It might spare you from looking like a complete douche bag fool.
  7. . KL, the football stadium is not state-of-the-art? If today was April 1st...my answer would be: "Sure! Of course it is!!" But like 95% of all college football stadiums...it is adequate...but more importantly, its ON CAMPUS. Having to go to games at the Citrus Bowl for 2 plus decades...I would have taken ANYTHING on campus over that dump...but BHNS turned out much nicer than I had originally thought...but as I noted in the very beginning...the UCF Arena is really the crown jewel/hidden gem of all the projects...as it is a very SWEET on-campus facility. Leavitt and the USF supporters don't want a half ass job tin can death trap with no water fountains. We are spoiled with RJS and enjoy it. There is no sense building a crappy stadium for the sake of having an OCS. Do it right the 1st time and build onto it is our motto. I also believe tailgating at RJS would be better than OC. Enjoy your unstable erector set.
