  1. Not that they would actually do it, but this pic gave me a thought - they COULD open up the track and field stadium as a tailgating area. Right, I added the picture just to show that a scaled stadium could fit on campus. Nothing more than a visual to get the thoughts and potential flowing.
  2. I like all the extra parking you fail to account for... You fail to account the entire campus is a walk-able parking lot Sure, there's an extra 30k parking spots just laying around... Yes, no doubt. Between the surface parking lots throughout campus and the open green spaces that could accommodate parking, we would be fine. Plus the Bull Runner shuttle service could provide game day transportation between lots
  3. I like all the extra parking you fail to account for... You fail to account the entire campus is a walk-able parking lot
  4. Mandatory OCS picture... Orange Bowl on USF campus, to scale.
  5. I dont have access to the Ohio State site nor do I know why OSU would have knowledge on BIG12 but here is the OP from that thread: Do any of you have a Premium Account with 247Sports.com? If so, can you give more insight on this. Ohio St.'s Publisher States USF & UCF to Big 12 the initial morsel; May 1, 2013 - 20 posts - 9 authors One guy claims to be friends with a guy who is friends with Taggart who told him the Big12 called USF last week, but Willie wouldn't tell him any ... I'm not sure what is said just the notes on the web for the link. If anyone has an account, give up some info.
  6. I heard similar rumblings as Outrunner.... I also heard the new preference during budget shortfalls will be for strategic affiliation with surrounding apartment complexes.
  7. The Williams Company owns the land from their mining days. They basically donated the land so the state could build a university on it and thus improve property values for the rest of their surrounding holdings. Here is an old map of the original plans. The layout of the campus has changed from that map but you can see Williams still has plenty to develop outside of campus. This is similar to what happened in California with UC-Irvine and the Irvine Company
  8. Maybe not too late to take back USF Ft. Myers either?
  9. figure its worth posting about endowments also. For the state of Florida:
  10. Theres also George Reyes, the former CFO of Google. I think its safe to say that he made some coin from his time there (2003-2008) on stock options alone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Reyes
  11. Gallagher is in the red it seems :-( http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/richest-comedians/gallagher-net-worth/
  12. I don't have exact numbers but I think Jordan Zimmerman might be our wealthiest alum. http://www.forbes.com/profile/jordan-zimmerman/
  13. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/9071683/big-east-media-rights-deal-terminated-two-more-school-exits-according-sources That was made by NBC Sports Network, which included a stipulation that the seven-year deal could be terminated if the league lost two more schools, sources said. ESPN could only match NBC Sports Network's deal and not change the language of the contract, sources said. NBC Sports Network's contract divided the league into Group A (Connecticut, Cincinnati, Houston and Temple) and Group B (the remaining members), sources said.
  14. Brett McMurphy â€@McMurphyESPN If 2 teams from UConn, Cincy, Temple & UH leave; or 1 of those & 1 of remaining teams, new TV deal for former Big East can be terminated So it appears USF is not as valuable to ESPN as UConn, Cincy,Temple, or Houston. That could be why USF hasn't received an invite to join the big-boy conferences. Willie needs to get rid of the bus, and learn to pilot a jet! Not as valuable to NBC... ESPN could not change the language of the NBC offer, that was their safety net
  15. interesting: Brett McMurphy â€@McMurphyESPN Because of stipulations by NBC, current Big East new 7-year TV deal can be terminated if 2 more schools leave
  16. USF's main campus (the block between Fowler & Fletcher, BBD & 50th) is roughly 900 acres. USF also owns that undeveloped "EcoArea" north of Fletcher (area between golf course and Hillsborough River) which is roughly 770 acres.
  17. I'd say visionary for sure, but not in a positive way. Just like FGCU, the land surrounding the university is held by him and his family businesses (Alico and Atlantic Blue). The value of his land shoots up significantly with a science/research university, a la UC Irvine back in the 1960's. Everything he does seems to benefit his companies and himself, even with the Central Polk Parkway that they're pushing ahead with, you bet that's going right through his holdings.
  18. I've heard this also. The changing demographics makes sense since Lakeland will be the last frontier for the Tampa/Orlando metropolitan merge. UF will not get locked out of the emerging region that's clearly USF and UCF territory in research and science.
  19. Pretty cool stuff http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/14/usf-tesla-coil-super-mario_n_2681483.html http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/02/14/students-build-giant-tesla-coil-that-shoots-15-foot-sparks-to-mario-brothers/
