I'll probably need two years. WKU went 2-10 Taggart's first year and followed it up with two 7-5 seasons. The offense requires more intelligence and precision of execution than we're accustomed to at USF. Whether it is personnel or learning curve, there seems to be many issues to address that won't be remedied overnight... especially with a team that was already playing poorly when he took it over (much like WKU).

Then again, this has all been said a million times and morons on this board refuse to let any of this seep through those thick skulls, so I'm not really sure why I'm even posting. Saying that CWT will never be Harbaugh because of this season is easily one of the dumbest arguments that I've seen on this board AND I've seen a lot of dumb comments. Poor initial seasons only reinforce the concept of his likeness to Harbaugh.

I should make this post my signature.  Great post.

Stanford is a prestigious school in a good conference...we are usf. Not saying cwt can't polish this turd but we will never have the players Stanford has.

and we will never have to play the type of competition stanford has to with the players they get. I don't get why people don't understand this. we aren't playing oregon, usc, ucla, et .

the system works and honestly the foundation put in place by harbaugh with this system has allowed stanford to sustain their success.

He made it work somewhat at wku so it should work at usf...just don't expect it at the level of Stanford.

I mean wku would beat us now.

Well that should tell you something!

    What constitutes respect?

Is there a difference between respect and like? As an example, I had one boss who I absolutely could not stand. My hair stood straight up every time he opened his mouth to speak. I hated his style, his demeanor...everything. But....He got results. No late projects, no redundant fixes and he didn't play favorites (I think he loathed us all equally). Professionally I respected him, but personally didn't like him. Unfortunately, in talking to kids they may not make that distinction.

Unlike in your story, Taggart hasn't gotten much in terms of results.

He is also asking some, perhaps many, to play in positions in a style they were not recruited for.  That would piss me off no doubt.  That kind of thing happens in life all the time.  It is no fun and it is sure to create resentments.

  4. Okay, I was debating about posting this since I don't put a ton of credibility in the source but decided to pass it on for what it's worth. I mentioned in the Andre Davis post that I was in the Perry Ellis store the other day and the kid who worked there starting talking football with me since I had my USF gear on. He mentioned that he knew a guy on the team and he claimed that a lot of the players don't respect CWT. He said some would refuse to dress for practices and didn't really want to play for the guy. I asked him who his friend is and he said ******** ****+. He made it sound as if Wright was among the ones who didn't respect CWT. Me and my wife took it as the guys who obviously weren't recruited by CWT are the ones who are part of the problem because maybe they don't like the discipline he's brought in. Wasn't *****+ recruited by the previous staff also? From the way this kid made it sound, CWT has a bigger overhaul on his hands than what I thought. But again, I'm not putting too much credibility in the source since from talking to him it was obvious he didn't know a whole lot about college football. Just thought I would pass it on and see if anyone else had heard anything regarding "a lot" of players not having respect for the coach?

This could have been written about Leavitt. In fact is was many years ago. It was before the 2007 season if I recall. The quote at the time was "everyone hated him".

My response to both - "tough s***". As a fan base that should be our response too. These are spoiled individuals if they think they have the luxury to dislike their coach.

If we just had a bad offense we could have easily had 4-5 wins.

I think alot of us underestimated how bad holtz left this program.

A win vs Rutgers to end the season would be nice.

See, I just can't help myself.  I read stuff like this and it makes me nuts.  So the offense is all Holtz's fault but the defense that has played well is all Bresnahan and Taggart?  No credit to Holtz for the defense but all blame for the offense.

Good point. I'm with you. I think Bresnahan does deserve credit though he's done a great job. Look at the turnovers, yards given up, points given up, etc with a bunch of freshman playing quite a bit. I do think a lot of blame goes on Holtz for the lack of playmakers on offense but good grief Taggart has made very little if any at all, improvements with the offense throughout the year and that's his MO so he gets a lot of the blame for me too. The scheme makes me absolutely cringe and makes it tough to watch.

I don't think the defense is playing in a completely new system.  I see your point Cousin just think it is apples and oranges.

I would contend we might have had a few more wins this year if we ran the spread because it fit our players more.  That being said, this is a year to learn the new system and I/we are hoping for a pay off once it clicks with these guys.

  6.

It was a close game... I think you take the 3 points. I don't trust these guys to execute a play.

Sadly, that's the most logical explanation for going for a field goal there. Just because our players can't get out of their own **** way.

I disagree with you, but unfortunately we've seen it too much.

Still, not a coaching mistake when guys can't do simple things right. Taking a snap is not something that needs to be coached, it's something the quarterback needs to be able to do.

Who snuck Matt Floyd into the lineup?

Yea, bad call because our guys can't execute.  That is too funny.  We should start punting on first down with that logic.

  7.

Pause before you call Taggart a bust. Look at Cutcliffe @ Duke, Kill @ Minnesota, Strong @ Louisville. They did not have great first seasons but things picked up. It doesn't always end like this, but there's only one way FOR it to end like that: give it time.

I would like to add Coach Will Taggart at WKU during his 1st season. That team went 2-10. I know they were 0-12 the year before but he still went 2-10. His next year I believe he went 7-5 which I would be ecstatic if he did that here at USF next season. The good news is that CWT has been through a bad 1st year as head coach so he is pretty much going to be calm about it and stick to what he wants to do. Now if this was his 1st ever head coaching gig I would be more concerned about him being able to rebound. I believe he will put this behind us and start winning more next season. That is what I want to believe..

Last year we beat Chattanooga, Nevada and UCONN.  Without BJ we would have probably just beaten the Mocs.  I am just wondering if it was all that much better that what Willie had to start with at WKU.

  8. He is fielding a team on which the talent lies primarily in the true Freshmen. He is installing one of the most complex offenses in CFB. He is weeding out all of the little negative nancies on the team. He is installing an offense that has gone 44-7 for the last 4 years at Stanford and has beaten 5 ranked teams this year. He has to load the pipeline. Everyone thought Stanford would stumble when Luck left, yet it only got better.Patience, children.

This is how I see it. I am not ready to criticize the man until the end of his second season.  This offense is intended to impose its will on the other team and wear them out.  It takes the right players and lots of practice to implement.

I think we will see improvements as the players "get it" and we start getting some of the horses we need.

  9.

At this point it's no longer about a handshake.

You have Joshua Brown, who was going to be one of our starting DBs this year before he tore his Achilles, talking trash about his Coach. He is still on this team and if he's talking on social media, he's talking in the locker room.

Cut the fat. Remove the cancer.

I want to agree with this......I really, REALLY do............but, as JTrue said way back on page 1:  "Nothing good has ever come from reading a teenager's twitter."

19 Seniors and a BUNCH of transfers after this season make this year's recruiting class THE most important of Coach Taggart's entire coaching career.  I have confidence that he'll find smarter, more mature(this is key) players than the previous regime(s) could get in here.

We have something like 5 DB's committed that had me scratching my head.  I guess it makes sense now.

  10.

Well obviously there have been some transition issues with the new coach and system. There will be players hurt because they dont fit into the system. Taggart even flat out admitted it that he needs to get more of his players to play his way of playing. We will see how many complaints there are in a few years. That is when CWT will be judged by the people that make the hiring and firing decisions. If this team is still fumbling the ball and making bad penalties then it is all on CWT. No other way to excuse it then. Transition years suck. Just the way it is.

Is shaking someone's hand not part of CWT's new system?

Looks like his feelings got hurt and he complained to him mom over twitter.  Not passing judgement on that just summing up what we are upset about now.

Sorry you're so chapped. 1100 reads and 70 replies with many different opinions posted. Maybe the Mods should delete all posts that might possibly be considered controversial.

It would be an empty forum if they did that.  It doesn't mean that threads like these should go unchallenged.  People might starting thinking they have merit.

If you feel that your comments are being challenged often by people on this forum then perhaps it should give you pause - unless you are just trolling.

You hit the nail on the head in your last couple of posts.

Really need to add, though, that if you've been here long enough, you should know by now the characteristics of a lot of the regulars. There are some who post controversial **** on a regular basis just to tweak ... which is fine because that is a part of message boards ... and you have to learn not to bite, at least not in a serious way. I will admit that Duckhead is very good at it this and you need to take it for what it is ....

Thanks for the insight.  I know the type.  I have not gotten angry at something someone wrote on a message board in 10 years or more and I assure you Turducken does not have it in him.

But in the spirit of your advice I will step away from this thread as it has run its course.

Sellular and BullsinTx are the two biggest morons on this forum

Take their posts and threads the same way you do smazza's.

    Carry on.

Lighten up Francis.. I just made a thread because all the Gator fans were screaming to fire Muschamp. You're such a crybaby.

Hem, let me ask you another "hypothetical"....

Even Trade: CWT or Nick Saban? Would you take that? If you say yes, then you have no right to complain about the OP.

One scenario you are asking if we should swap with a coach that is about to lose his job due to incompetence and in another you are asking if we swap for one of the best college football coaches in recent years.

Both scenarios imply our coach is equivalent to the person on the other side of the trade.  You know perfectly well that the OP was a slight against Taggart.

Nope, your using a personal opinion scale to judge where it becomes acceptable. What about Chris Peterson? Acceptable thread? Gene Chizik? David Shaw?

You are just looking to be argumentative and disingenuous - it speaks to your credibility.

  15. So because UF had a "worse" loss, does that mean our losses to McNeese and FAU didn't happen? Otherwise, I'm not sure why it matters who some other program lost to.

Have you read the thread title?  The idiotic question was raised and we are just discussing Muschamp's qualifications based on his team's most recent outing after three years under his tutelage.

I believe we are now addressing when we think Muschamp will be available so Doug can interview him since so many on this board feel he compares favorably to Taggart.

  16.

PS - Gator-on-Gator blocking vid = extremely sad & hilarious!

I can't stop watching and laughing.  What the heck was going on there?  Has anyone heard an explanation for it?

    I think they'd rather pretend it didn't happen ...

Is that video trending viral yet?

Honestly, I would be surprised if Muschamp made it to the end of the week.  It is bad enough that they lost to a AA but that video is making them a laughing stock.

  17.

Here is a video of the UF players blocking each other. I am not sure how this was even possible and I have never seen anything like it.

The message board version of two players on the same team blocking each other is posting the same video as someone else in the same thread.

Ha!!!  I didn't look at the other video.  It looked like it was about Georgia Southern from the thumbnail.   You got me.   :loser:

  18.

He was competitive with Georgia Southern late in the season with lots of injuries.

You just lost any shred of credibility you may have had by saying this. Teams like Florida don't try to be "competitive" with teams like GSU ... They look to overwhelm teams like GSU. As stated elsewhere before, Florida's 3rd string should have shut down that team. GSU didn't complete 3 passes the whole day!!!!

LOL ... Florida competitive with GSU .... Hahahahha

    +10000000

I woke in the middle of the night with a horrible thought: "Maybe those guys on the Bullspen who think Taggart was a mistake or doesn't know what he is doing are right?"

Have you ever found yourself awake in the middle of the night worried about some horrible thought and had trouble getting it out of your mind?

I was so desperate for sleep I wandered into the living room, fired up the laptop to check out what people were talking about.  When I got to this thread and read its premise and some of the thoughts of its proponents I went back to bed and slept like a baby.

  19. As ugly as these games have been, and they have been UGLY, the offense has been able to move the ball with White at QB.

White is a true freshman, and he plays like it, but you have to think he will only get better given a full offseason in Taggart's system. He is accurate and sees the field well. His interceptions have been a result of forcing passes that aren't there when we need quick scores late in the game.

The same could be said for the penalties. Taggart knows this is unacceptable. The illegal formations and false starts can be fixed (not sure about Lynch's or Price's issues).

I'm not an optimist, we are likely going to get buried by UCF, and it will be rock bottom. However, I see where Taggart is trying to take this team, it's just going to take longer than 10 games to get there.
