  1. Not having been a college football fan till USF got a team (were it a factor I would have gone to Florida in the early 90s), I have to ask, "How can a coach effectively recruit with a 0-12 record? " I don't care what vision you have, it's got to be hard to sell a kid on the great things your program is doing with a record like that.

The program has been set so far back it's sickening . I was on the lines fighting for a team and recall the excitement when it was announced.

Historically, have any teams gone from winless to champions... and how long did it take? My sense is that the road back could be longer than the initial building process.

Willie will sell them on the chance to start and contribute right away.  These players were recruited mostly by Skip and are not necessarily suited for Willies scheme and expectations of them.

Most of the problems I saw yesterday was from poor O-line play.  Pass blocking to be more specific.  Yes our QB's are lacking but they are also running for their lives back there as soon as the ball is snapped.

There have been some improvements from week 1 in other areas of the that I don't hear discussed much.

Our special teams have improved, our defense has improved and  started to show some swagger last night.  We are running successfully on first down even when they knew we were going to run on.  That is called "imposing our will" something Willie talked about.

    We'll get there.

  2. ... do we just start throwing seniors and juniors off the team, or bench them for their performances and begin starting freshman and focusing on next season?

For me its if we lose to FAU.

    play the best players

play the players that give 100 effort

    play bench

As far as we know all three of those statements could be contradictory.

    Good stuff though, carry on.

I think that would be an overreaction. I think CWT will make examples of a couple of slackers but they will not want to give the impression all is lost. Its not.

We will struggle year but we should hope for steady improvements.

O'leary lost every game his first year. Lets hope we don't have to experience that. That would really test the fan base.

Fan Base?! We got 22k to a home opener with a new coach...with $8 tickets and 10k of that was students who were there to get drunk primarily. Fan base!? Fan Base!? Don't talk to me about fan base!? lol

It was nuked into oblivion last year. A new coach doesn't guarantee a change right away as evidenced by Saturday's performance. Many people don't want to waste their money and precious Saturday evenings on a horrible product.PERHAPS Life is too short!

Perhaps i should have said continue to test the fan base.

  5. usf has been terrible for year

our recruiting has been terrible for years

we havent had consistent qb play for years

other conference mates went on to bigger and better things and we are stuck in the mud

man when will usf fans see the reality

Is it really that tough for you to understand? We are fans (short for fanatics). We will always look for bright spots for the team and the team and program. That's what we do.

You are not a fan, not really. You are Statler and Waldorf (the two old judges from the Muppets -> dating myself). We could win the NC and you would complain about the score - admit it, you would.

That's ok, like Statler and Waldorf you are good for a laugh now and then.

  6. Only a fool would write anything disparaging on a player's twitter account.

Question... was this fool a student or alum... in my view I think its fine for a student to call out another student, not so much for an alum.

Good question, allow me to clarify:

Only a fool would write anything disparaging on a player's twitter account.

    Hope that helps.

  7. I'm sure SOMEone has already said it, but you guys saying Eveld is shaky and didn't show a strong arm must've been watching a game from last year. He looked so much better than last year I had to rub my eyes and take another look. He threw a couple of deep balls on a ROPE and very accurate--too bad the receivers couldn't hold on or it would have been a lot closer. He picked the team up and gave some life to that offense. I don't know how you DON'T start him, he earned it and then some--looked like a good field leader out there, so my vote is to give the guy the chance to prove he can be consistent.

Much as I like Floyd's attitude, he didn't prove he can deliver or overcome adversity. Bobby did. Bench hasn't proven anything yet, appears not to be ready.

Defense was shockingly weak at picking up on the play-sets. Might as well have had runway lights down the middle of those holes on first downs. Much work to do there.

    +1

  8. I don't much about Bench but if he is not in the competition this week I am not optimistic.

He didn't have an entire spring with the offense and he dinged up as reported.

    I know that of course.

Have there been reports that he is tearing it up in the areas does know? Has there been any positive reports about him?

I am asking because I have not seen them.

I would expect wording from the coaches where I could glean that "but for his unfamiliarity with the offense he would be the starter."

Full disclosure, I never was high on him and thought he was brought in for depth.

  9. If the season is lost, you certainly don't burn a redshirt. The only way you 'd see White is if CWT thinks he can salvage the season.

I disagree. We could spend the whole season getting White ready for next year.

    The season is not over.

If you look at what I said, "If the season is lost..."

Sorry, that was not directed at you. I felt the need to repeat it because this whole discussion is beyond premature. I sure you see it that way too.

  10. Whatever happens, don't put Floyd back in.

I don't think we see him again.
entirely possible he alternates them by quarter or series.
Did Taggart say something about that? If he didn't I think it would be very unlikely. Its just my opinion/prediction.

    pure speculation on my part

Respectfully, I hope things don't turn out that way.
