Emergency meetings are not called when you invite a new member. So that sucks.
Perhaps the emergency is that USF has been invited to the B1G and the ACC, and the B12 is afraid they will to miss out if they don't offer quickly.
More likely they are monitoring this board and they read a couple of posts from yesterday where some of us were having second thoughts about the B12.

when we knew we weren't going bowling we should have played a lot younger.
Problem was Skip was playing for his own job.
This^^^ lest we forget, he was fighting like Gollum for his life.

It's not a final decision once he names a starter, of course, but Taggart has consistently said he doesn't like any system of rotating QBs during a game. Given that, not sure how you guys are on page 4 of a thread titled "QB by committee."
Plenty of meat on that bone. Later we'll make soup.

Always nice to hear USF come up. Hoping for the best.
I think we should all be at least encouraged by our name being mentioned. Last round it was as if we did not exist. Depressing at the time.

Why would that be best case scenario for USF? In my mind, that is worst case. We stand ZERO chance of getting into the ACC or SEC or B1G, if the Big 12 goes then we are permanently stuck in the AAC (if it still even exists at D4).All we can do is keep praying for more realignment.
Databull is right, everything was quiet for a couple months there. Many of these "insiders" said it was over and they wouldn't be commenting on realignment anymore.
Now? All of the sudden It's crazy. There's something going on, something big, and it's going to be announced this season. By 2014 the CFB landscape will be changed.
We need to pray the B12 falls apart, because we DON'T want to be in it.
The best of all scenarios for USF is if UT and OU bolt for the PAC, taking TT and OSU with them
I'm ok with being stuck in the AAC if it's D4.
What is D4?

I am not up on all the inside jokes around here. This is one of those right?
You must be looking at some other list than we are, because Da'Shawn Hand might not even know we have a football team.
I would tend to agree with you about a recruit that can go to any school he wants to go to in the country, but as of 3 days ago:Seems doubtful.

With Da'Shawn Hand seriously considering USF, it shows that they could be front runners to joining the Big 12

A 17 year old's brain in not fully developed. I won't make a guess on how old you may be but it was not something I fully realized until I got older. When I look back on the things I said and did at that age I can only wince and wonder how I survived. Thank god there was no twitter around or god forbid reporters taking down my latest pearl of wisdom back then.
17 is not a kid, how old are you people??? Can you really not remember being 17??? He is a young adult, perfectly capable of sound judgement and making correct choices. Just like many of you did when you were growing up.
In a few short months he can go off and fight for his country if he chose, he can drive, he can fly a plane, etc
He is not a kid
That being said, good luck to him wherever he lands.- 1

I agree with ckparrothead's approach when considering the judgment of 17 year olds, however there does seem to be a pretty compelling case that Chase did not handle this well.
First by going to UF without telling the coaches. He was putting himself out there as a flagship of sorts.
Second by not calling the coaches to decommit. At best it was poor communication at worst it was cowardly.
Third, this article seems like he is trying to take revenge. Why not keep silent at this point? It seems likely that he tried to get back in the fold and was rebuffed.
Most of this us speculation but it seems like this young man may have poor judgment even by 17 year old standards. Given that, I can see why they may want to pass on him - I would agree.

Miami would be the only non AAU member, non public, non land grant school. I would think they would rather poach from another conference.
-
I am really more surprised that Teddy Bridgewater didn't have a roommate all this time.
-
Sad we could not reel him in. I make you a bet, our future of AAC conference was a factor.
Probably true but I don't understand these kids. He has proven he can preform at the highest level in college football. Now what he has to show to get into the pros is that he not a head case.
He can accomplish that anywhere but at USF he is almost guaranteed the starting spot in a run heavy offense.

We need to know everything yesterday, or there's some conspiracy going on...

It's been long enough where it seems like he does not have all of his ducks in a row. Even if he just came out and said to some press somewhere that he will not be making a decision before a certain date, or said I will make public my decision on a date, it would look a lot better. At the very least, I hope he has made some similar statement to the coaches to give them expectations.
The silence and rumors just leave me with a negative impression. I still want him to come here of course, but some public statement by dyer regarding his recruitment would make a good impression. Something as simple as, "I am weighing 3 offers." would look a lot better.
This would make us feel better but i bet they have their reasons. The longer it drags out the less likely its UL imo. I bet Dyer wants to go there but Strong is having some kind of trouble getting him in. He can't announce anything unless the ducks are in a row.

I feel very good about everything CWT has done and I love the direction the team is going in. That being said I think we will win 5 games. We are paper thin at CB, have no QB or RB and our O-line is "weak" according to coach.
-
The decision has some risks could he be a cancer? He might also be out of condition. Not to say he is not worth the risk - at least for us.

I've seen something like this happen with 2 of my friends growing up. They attended UW both could have went anywhere and both became starters by their JR year. One had a transfer come in and felt slighted he transferred out the other was a starter for 2 years felt his job was safe got a stinger in camp and had to miss the first game. He was about to cone back but his replacement was doing ok the coaches pushed it off and he decided he no longer needed to play football.
I get where yall are coming from but not everyone feels that way. You think Shaw doesn't feel entitled to RB1? And if/when(again IMO how long this has drug out it is when) Dyer goes somewhere else then Taggart has to come back and pretend like he was good enough all along. That's where this drawing out hurts us not if he comes but when he doesn't.
Fair enough. Something similar happened to me once so I know how your friend felt. Sometimes the coached decisions seem arbitrary. I stuck it out and got on the field but it could have gone the other way.
-
Personally I feel you lose your other RBs by waiting a week. The longer this plays out the less confident they will become. Especially if he doesn't come.
That reason alone is why I think Bench starts. Coach Taggart told the other QBs they weren't good enough by flirting with every QB out there. Would have been a disaster if we didn't land one. Every day Dyer sits on this our chances decrease IMO and every day we play the waiting game our other RBs will question themselves. I don't care how good or confident you are if your partner(coach) starts flirting with someone else(Dyer) right in front of your face its going to affect you. And Dyer is using us for a better offer. 2 weeks ago he was toxic minus WKU and Marshall. Now he gets a decent offer and we're not good enough...
I really don't think the coaches should be worried about hurt feelings. I did not play at that level but whenever a coach tried to replace me it made me work harder to try to prove the coach wrong.
Dyer is trying to land in the place that is best for him. For all we know he has made a decision and is trying to check to see if he has the grades to make it into whatever school he has settled on.

I have a gut feeling, that he is committing to UCLA...they seem to be the biggest school out of all his offers.
Plus he may just want to get away from FL...now the real question is will he pan out. I can't read through this thread, but some of the comments is that he is our Johnny Football or Tim Tebow. And he could a stud, which if he comes to USF...great, if he goes another place, I wish him the best. But his numbers are just average and the Elite 11 is all hype from ESPN and Nike. I see some QB's ranked pretty high in talent rankings that weren't on ESPN, so until I see AW or any of the other gys on the field I'm holding my comments.
Congrats to 2012 @ Elite11 MVP @ AW_QB2 (Asiantii Woulard) # UCLA GREAT talent, but even a better kid. Cali just got Florida's BEST! # QBSurgeon

As a vet, I agree.
I can't believe we are discussing recruiting in the context of the military. That being said, it only weakens the original point about how mature 18 year olds are. We would have a hell of a time with our all volunteer army without naive 18 y/o kids. Most were shocked they had been lied to by their recruiters - I guess they will never get it.
Folks tend to write off the actions of an 18 year old so easily saying "he's only 18", this is typical 18 year old behavior, these are "kids". Sorry, but 18 year olds are adults under the law for a reason. By that time you either "get it" or you don't. Age has nothing to do with maturity/integrity. You see it every day in the NFL and with other players who were class acts all the way through. If you believe the "age=maturity/integrity" then I offer you Terrell Owens, Ryan Leaf, Michael Vick, Jamarcus Russell and the list goes on. The results on the field with AW aren't good enough for me to get hyped up about him with the "drama" his "camp" brings. If he came to USF would I support him? Yeah, I've supported all Bulls as an alumni should, but I'd be more shocked if he made it to graduation than I would if he ended up off the team in less than 2 years for whatever.Adults deemed too immature to handle alcohol.
Yet mature enough to wage war.
There it is. I was waiting for you to play the öld enough to wage war card". You may RXACTLY know how recruiting goes. I EXACTY know the recruiting process I know EXACTLY how the military is populated, not many mature people it's pretty much a GIANT ball of testosterone. Not all 18yr old "ádults" are as mature and ready for life as you and your apparently quite elite set of friends.
