TAMPA Former University of Miami starting sophomore center Brittany Denson has transferred to the University of South Florida and said she will begin classes Monday. "USF has a good team, a good coach and they’re closer to home," Denson said. "I just needed a change. I'm really excited to come to USF. It's a new beginning." The 6-foot-3 Denson will become eligible in December and will have 2 1/2 years of eligibility at USF. At UM this season, she started 16 of 17 games, averaging 8.4 points and team highs in rebounds (6.9) and blocked shots (1.0) before leaving the Hurricanes. Last year, she started 11 games, averaging 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds before suffering a season-ending knee injury Feb. 13, 2006. A 2005 Winter Haven graduate, Denson led the Blue Devils to the 2005 Class 5A state title and was rated the state's top post player as a senior. http://www.tbo.com/sports/bulls/MGB8RGOW6XE.html
