It is so easy to criticize after the fact when you don't have to make the decisions that the coach has to make at the spur of the moment. It is so easy to tear everything down when you are not "in the arena." Winning is about a team being positive and believing in itself and its about the people who support that team being positive even when they make mistakes so that they will get back into their efforts and try to win. negativeism just destroys it all and can cause a team to give up. this is not the time for criticism. Its time to rally behind the team so that every player gives his all to win. If you guys don't understand this then you don't have a clue!
  3. jfcio, I like your passion. same goes for smazzi. thats what makes this board so addictive. I'm glad that you are (can I say this joke?) head gorilla of your monkey company. Its easy to complain and I'm sure you are sincere, but the fact is we are living in a state that has 3 schools that have won boocoodles of national championships. the problem is that while USF is trying to move into the big time, they have to compete with those schools. neither louisville or west virginia have this problem. this is going to be a long process and its going to take patients and if you dont see that, you are just going to frustate yourself. as for replacing cjl, I think he is doing a good job considering.

  6. all this stuff that ku is a bad football team is rediculous. we wont know till the end of year. sometimes a team that at first think is not so good, later proves out to be better. I think Rutgers was like that last year. look at FIU, they gave maryland a fit yesterday. maybe, just maybe, they are better than we thought and were lucky to have beaten them. we really wont know till all the cards are dealt. thats why they play the game.
  7. that was great jim. you did a better job than the trib did. I could relive the game with the way you catagarized it . you should give them lessons on reporting. one gets tired of all this editorializing, like as if we're to dumb to think for ourselves, given the facts.
  8. Anybody want to consider that maybe the battle at the trenches might need some look on. They are the key to winning any game. A good line can make an average back or Quarterb ack look great and a great back look average.
  9. I've been impressed at timeswhen I've posted on this board and you have come back with detailed information. I also think that smazzi has an important place on this board. I think that some of the things he says may be to get people to start talking. Some people can't take criticizm

  11. I cant believe those are big east refs, like that 45 yd run that was called back. they reran it and the announcers criticized it,and they were pro kansas. last week, I thought there were a few bad calls. I hope Im wrong and my eyes (and heart) deceived me.

  17. just don't take the guy for granted. There is a saying that the worse of the known may be better than the best of the unknown. you people that are so quick to criticize him (smazza,etc.)might consider this. There is no guarantee that another coach would do as well, nomatter how good he looks. Leavett has done a fantastic job here and we are lucky to have him.
  18. I noticed that he was a little shook up when the baseball coach got thr axe. If he got the axe here, he might not get an offer to coach again. The little spat with the news could be symptomatic that he is worried. If so, and he has a winnable season, he might ponder that

  20. wasn't Southern Miss a good rivalry! Why not play them if you are going to talk about a C-USA TEAM that brought out the crowds and caused a lot of excitement. They would not effect our recruitment and I seem to remember they were really into it with us. Does anyone know the attendance in those games. Why necessarily UJCF?
  21. If this talk was given to a group of alumni or USF fans that are for him and he doesn't have to worry about what he says, I bet it would come across a lot better. He doesn't need to talk to the sharks. He needs a quarterback club thats with him and for him

I forgot to mention that coach leavett would be the main speaker and the questions would come from alumni and friends, who are not going to ask dumb questions like "coach tell us about all your weaknesses so we can print it and the sell papers, even if it kills your team. If he didn't want to answer a question he could say so and this audience would understand.
  23. whether its in Tampa, Clearwater, or St. Pete. Its a good way to channel the news on USF football. I am so sick and tired of reading daily articles about the Gator or FSU and nothing about the Bulls. Its a good way to get business people more involved in our program by having a luncheon and inviting them to come. You could also put in a phone call to the opposing coach and have him say a few things. my thought is that if thet aren't going to give the Bulls any attention, then lets do some thing to demand it! I heard there is some kind of meeting somewhere but whoever hears about it.
