Hmm I like the Bowl. But not the opponent. We would have a very tough time with Maryland and their QB...
What's the old saying? If you want to move up into the ranks of being considered average, you have to be able to beat average teams.
would love another shot at Maryland, but true they may pick us apart. Step 1 is to get bowl eligible first.

Id be surprised if they keep it within 30. This defense is just as bad as last year.
I wouldn't say "just as bad," but they certainly have shown that they CAN be just as bad (UAB, FAU) if they decide to forget how to tackle that day. Pass defense needs alot of work.

The more they delay, the more time goes by for more Oracle articles to be printed about how we really shouldn't do the project, etc. And the more chances there are of some event happening that would put the project on "pause." I can't speak for the rest of the USF fanbase, but I have this continuous fear of being "charlie-brown footballed" when it comes to any topic where I get my hopes up about USF sports. So seeing real progress (like ground breaking) is the only thing that keeps me from dreaming up theories on how/why it may not happen.

BREAKFAST and a Bloody Mary bar!
GO BULLS!Yep. Was hoping to be cooking up philly cheese steaks, but Bloody Mary bar sounds good!

Would be cool to see us come out and play a complete game and upset one of the top conference teams. I don’t like basing our bowl chances on the idea that we “should be able to beat temple and charlotte.”

I laughed when I thought about the offense lining up and then the center proceeding to tinkle on the ball. Is that a 15 yard penalty?

Congratulations!!! Go Bulls!

I'm not John (LOL), but this was the release by the conference about a year ago spelling out the opponent structure for 2023-2026.
American Announces Football Scheduling Model for 2023-26 Seasons
THEAMERICAN.ORG
IRVING, Texas – American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco has announced the four-year football scheduling model for conference games that will be...Thank you. I hadn't seen this.
I guess SMU leaving and Army coming in may change things, unless they just throw Army into the SMU slot. Should be interesting.

Love Charlotte.
I am pretty sure we play there next season.
Hey, John. Been meaning to ask. Is there any pattern to the opponents we play year after year since the realignment? With the old division setup, it was pretty easy to know who we'd play because it was a simple rotation pattern...switch venues for your division games, and then play a different 3 teams from the other division home/away every 2 years. Is there some pattern now? Like do we just take our 2023 conference games and reverse the venues for next year?

I want to play anybody any time. Just make a bowl game.

Maybe the typical USF student would be more inclined to “like sports” if we had a decent football team who played on campus and a basketball team that made the tournament more than once every 20 or so years. If we are relevant, students will be there. I think these articles are just written by people who genuinely have no interest in sports even at their own alma mater. It’s happening, so they need to stop whining and get with the program.

That Gasparilla Bowl had a terrible monsoon. Plus I believe the fans, players and others basically gave up on that coaching staff. It was doomed to fail. Thankfully we have a fan base & program that is starving for a bowl game no matter where USF plays. Hopefully it will be a travel destination for the players and coaching staff. If not I’m still going to be at the Gasparilla Bowl.
All planned pre-game activities in the parking lot were cancelled due to weather, and the team played like crap. I don't prefer the gasparilla bowl here at home, but I am not going to judge it on my experience from the last time we were in it. That was just whatever could go wrong did go wrong.

It is funny to see a lot of the early C-USA schools reunite. ( Tulane, UAB, ECU, Army, USF) Other older C-USA moved up ( LVille, Cincy, Houston). What sticks out is the only C-USA school that never got promoted has been Southern Miss. I guess karma hit them bad after they issues with USF joining. Plus their fans throwing hot chocolate on our players. USM making fake accusations saying USF tried to gouge their eyes out. Karma finds a way to catch up lol
Coincidence? Nope. It's science.
Conference USA = Conference America = America Conference = American Conference

Has there been a reason stated why they just can't play it the last regular season game?
Nothing I know of. That's probably how it would work. I'd guess last game of the season if possible.

As much as I want out of the AAC, after going to Navy this year, I'd love to make a trip to West Point.
Hey, at least while we are here in the AAC...it's always better to play opponents that the casual fan has heard of before. Wonder how they will handle the Army-Navy game though.

The smu game last year was at noon... that was a rough game, hot and a horrible game to watch
Shoot. I just looked it up. You are correct, sir. I must have walked up and not even tailgated that day. I have no memory of a morning tailgate in a long while. I have been trying to forget the CJS era all together like it never happened.

This thread is becoming about as informative as the conference realignment thread. Hope it is short-lived in comparison.

Now that games are 5 hours long, I like the 3:30 spot. Speaking of nooners, I can’t even remember the last noon game at home. Had to be a few years ago.

I would not park My car there after that.
They didn't mess with mine in 2008 when I went, but I've heard stories of others. I have a USF license plate but I was able to back into a spot where it wasn't easily visible.

would be funnier if ucf didnt make a bowl game and usf has their bowl game on their campus, would be funny.
Would they still key our cars and slash our tires?

Nice to get a win which is a huge positive and the overall objective was achieved. For me, the ugliness of this game brought back familiar memories of the Leavitt days...our games against uconn were ALWAYS very ugly games. It's just the way things were...of course, uconn was a much better team back then, too. Happy to get the win and put it behind us.

You really have to love the title of the article. I haven't read the article yet, but that title. Wow. Could you imagine if someone had told you back in July that there would be an Oracle article entitled "USF working to prevent another blowout loss this weekend" in mid October? When will we stop sucking?

#16 ranked Duke would disagree.
ACC has 5 ranked teams. even if you take out the teams that are supposedly leaving, they still have 3 ranked teams.
I love how our fans think we are so high and mighty. It's why teams like UAB and FAU kick our pompous ass. somehow our fans think they are beneath us and it motivates them.
Yes. Based on the way our team has played the last 2 weeks, it seems that the team went in thinking they were high and mighty, too. We need to get back to playing with a chip on our shoulders--like we have something to prove. Because we DO have something to prove, and we need to start proving it quickly.
