  1. The picture was cool.  Got me really excited.  Since we are still in the initial design phase, I have to believe that the picture may not exactly resemble what will actually come out in the official renderings (once the design is done).  These things have a tendency to change until they are locked down.  I remember when the Glazers first pitched the new Tampa stadium (which eventually became Ray Jay).  The presented a scale model that looked nothing like what was actually designed and built.  The picture is probably accurate in terms of orientation, size, style, etc.  Then again, I don't know what was all said at the meeting.

What is funny is remembering seeing that thread posted about a month ago regarding how good USF looked during the exhibition game. Think both that & what we are seeing now proves that it is too early to judge our new coaching staff imo

I was really excited for the season after that game.  Thought we’d cruise through the next 4 opponents based on that.  Oh well.

That's funny.  We did have a pregame party.  Had some stuff put up in the place.  It was a good time!  Thanks for staying with The Pen all these years.

Should also add that when I went to find said site and couldn’t remember the name of it, it was @WoolyBully who helped me find it and sign up.  We were both inmates at the same facility back then.

USF fans gotta stop being so bitter about things. Once again, we have a new coach and team. Why are u guys crying about Deion? Why is this thread still alive? Are you guys aware that its not cool to be a "hater"? He chose another school a long time ago. Get over it and move on.

I think it's fair that someone revived this thread at the end of the season.  It's not about being a hater.  I didn't want him as HC here anyway.  Don't really care if he succeeds or fails at CU.  Don't really care to speculate what would have happened if he came here.  It's not being a hater to appreciate a good ol' fashioned train wreck or to find a bit of pleasure when someone talks a lot of smack and then doesn't back it up.

I'm happy we didn't get Deion.  I want it to be about USF.  Gotta admit, I didn't know who Golesh was when they announced him, but I'm glad we got him.

Some memories regarding my experience attending the MagicJack St Pete Bowl. I think the biggest thing that still stands out to me is that was the game that USF started to use different color helmets other than Gold. I remember walking into the Trop to be surprised with USF wearing white helmets. I was like cool but took some time to get used to. USF played great as they basically dominated Memphis. The tailgating experience was fun as we were able to tailgate in the Ferg’s parking lot so we got to see tons of USF fans make the their way to the Trop from Fergs. I believe that was the 1st this I got to set out the two Green & Gold USF Santas which was cool as they were handling out beads to fans. Ran into a WVU fan at the game and he was talking trash about USF saying that his Mountaineers were a real football team. Think that was before USF beat them up in Morgantown lol. To this day I find it funny to see many WVU think they are superior to USF especially regarding the latest big 12 conference realignments. Going to be funny when USF ends up in ACC while they are still stuck in a western conference lol. Anyway back on topic, I thought the bowl game was good with what they had to work with. Glad they moved that bowl to RJS and now known as the Gasparilla Bowl which is a good Bowl imo.

Oh, yes.  I do remember the white helmets and how excited the team was (and the fans) because it was so shockingly out of the ordinary, and it had been kept a secret.  Now its just a weekly thing to see a new helmet (yawn).  I wish they'd stick with the GOLD and then when they do make an exception, it would be a "big deal."  But, as long as they win like they did that day, I guess the helmets wouldn't really matter.  I think that was the game where Ben Busbee had a big day.  We met his dad at the game.

  6. Wife and I closed down the bar at Leows hotel south beach the night before the Miami Beach Bowl.  Doing aguardiente (fire water) shots with the bartender.  Some ladies brought the trophy into the bar that night.  I think it was a bad move for us to have seen the trophy the night before the game.  We may have jinxed it.

It definitely hurt being the worst fbs program over his 3 year tenure because we missed the last round of power5 expansion  when the b12 and b1g are adding more teams next year. If usf had value to those conferences with success on the field they may have taken a chance. Sadly we never will now because we hired him.

Life is about timing...and the timing for that couldn't have been worse.  It's in the past now, and we can't change it, but yeah that was total coulda/woulda/shoulda stuff right there.

  8. Anyone remember sitting in the Sun Bowl circa late 2007...Somebody hiked up a nearby peak and planted a Bulls flag on it.  Looked pretty cool before the game.  Whoever did that...nice work!  Also (not a bowl game), but somebody put a USF hat on the statue of Bobby Bowden at fsu on game day...same person maybe?

  9. Charlotte 2005.  Mieneke Car Care Bowl vs. NCST.  The day before, it was like USF owned the city.  USF fans everywhere.  I found out about TheBullsPen the night before the game by accidentally stumbling into a bar full of Bulls fans.  Thought it was just by chance, but it was a planned event.  Somebody asked me what my nickname/avatar was so they could give me a paper nametag.  I had no idea what they were talking about.  The said go to theBullsPen.com (which I did when I got back home).

The morning of the game (kickoff was 11 am new years eve), when we woke up, the entire town was red black and white.  Never seen so many wolfpack fans.  We lost the game 14-0 (we never really did have an offense that year with the exception of the louisville game).  But it was cool to have experienced the first bowl game ever for the program.=

The next year, we attended to B'Ham bowl to watch USF's first bowl win over ECU.

Went to El Paso and St. Pete.  Missed the one in Canada.   and since then have only been to Miami and the one here in tampa.  Regret missing the bowl wins against Clemson, SC, and texas tech.

    Ah ha inclusive of post-season?

oh, i see what you did there.  but yes, I consider the season to be not over yet.  I don't think the grade I have in mind would be negatively affected the bowl game result (unless we get 56 hung on us again), but it could help the grade on the positive side...kind of like "extra credit".

Thanks everyone, I got the email and signed up.  I was just wondering about if we are local if they will have any other gatherings besides the standard alumni tailgate, it appears probably not however not sure the Marshall game was a good gauge as we were on a 6 game losing streak and the wheels had pretty much came off the bus at that time, this is a different vibe.

not only did we totally back into that bowl, there was a really bad storm front that came through the night before and day of the game.  not sure if anything was planned, but all the activities in the parking lots were cancelled due to crappy weather.  it was almost as if the football Gods were trying to warn us.

Assuming the student "problem" is that all of the tickets are requested and allocated, but only 20%-30% of them actually show, meaning students who request too late and would actually attend the game don't get tickets.  If that is correct, it's a really bad process.  We need the process and the opportunity to intersect here so we maximize a student attendance win.

I believe they get the information about which tickets are used to enter.  I always get a "thanks for attending the game" email after the game...but I've never missed one, so I don't know if it is a "smart" email or not.

I think its probably a catch 22.  USF probably wants to make it as easy as possible for every student to get a ticket.  But yeah, if people are taking them and not showing up, that's an issue.  Maybe this all goes away when we get our own stadium.   How does UF/FSU do it?  Do the students have to request a ticket in advance, or do they just show up with a student id first come first serve?

Originally I wanted USF vs UCF in the Gasparilla bowl. The more I think about it, I would rather the team travel and play anyone else.

This is where I am as well.  I want these guys to get a cool trip to somewhere else.  As far as having the chance to beat central again someday, I almost feel 100% certain that we will play these idiots again someday.  There's too much money to be made on the game between ticket sales and tv revenue.  They'll figure out how to play that game from time to time, but I don't think we need to do it this year.
