  1. When my daughter graduated from USF two years ago, got married, and moved to Wichita, all the gifts I got her were USF related -- diploma frame, shirts, many decals for her cars, etc.  When she told us she was expecting our first grandchild, I bought her a newborn sleeper with the iconic U and "Future Bull" on it.

I have four USF polo shirts and a USF long sleeve shirt for work, Alumni Association stickers on my office door window, posters in my office, USF drinking cups, etc.

Bull's license plate and bumper sticker on my car.  This year, it willl be a Bull's flag outside of my house.

Yes, we all need to do more and TALK IT UP TO EVERYONE.  I work in Lakeland and if you didn't know it already, they are an awesome USF town.  But what would you expect with Matt Grothe (future all star) coming from there?!

  2. Oh, CB, players of Peoples caliber ought not play for BCS wannabes either.

Since we are already BCS, that would make you guys the wannebe's, right?  So we agree, he ought not to play for you guys.  I think he realized that, but nice of you to acknowledge his caliber.  At least you got that part right.

  3. My first grandchild will be born mid-September in Wichita, KS, so if the timing is right, I will be going to both the UCF and Kansas games.  Already put the family on notice -- I get to hold the baby first so I can drive up from Witchita to the game!  My daughter is a second generation Bull graduate.  If I can get these kids to move back to Florida, there may be a third generation Bull in the making!

  4. EVERYONE'S IMPUT WAS VERY HELPFUL TO SOMEONE THAT DIDNT SEE THE GAME

IT IS ASHAME YOO COULNDT GO AWAY FROMT HE GAME SAYING"MAN OUR OFFENSE LOOKED GREAT"

    Steve,

I don't think that I emphasized enough how good Ponton and the other running backs looks either.  Ponton could be a real threat as he had flashes of Hall-esque running last night.  Even my son, who rarely goes to the games picked it out on one run.  I think we will remain a threat with the running game.  If the passing game is good enough to distract the opposing defenses then we will be two dimensional enough that defenses will have to cover both threats -- something our opponents are not used to doing when facing us.

  5. I'm trying to remember back when I was 18 (over thirty years ago).  I think we need:

Girls in bikinis. No, Girls in bikinis pouring free beer.  With ice water thrown on them.  Yeah that's it:  Girls in bikinis pouring free beer with ice water thrown on them.  That's what we need to get students there.

Now I just go to watch my team play football.  God I wish I were 18 again... ;D

  6. Biggest concerns coming out of spring for me?  Longsnapping and the kicking game.  Line drive punts like that might not even let our defense see the field.  They're a returner's dream...USF has to avoid giving returners 10-15 yards of room as they catch it.

I agree.  What was horrible about tonight was the amount of snaps that were dirt or ankle high.  Our QB's will not be able to get a rhythm from the shotgun if they have to pick the ball up from the ground before looking up and passing.  And the kicking game was as bad as you say.

  7. I just posted this in another thread:

My impressions of the QB situation from the game tonight:

    1.  No surprise with Justmissed -- He was kicking up dirt again with his passes, although he was awesome as a blocker on one running play

    2.  Hill looked better than I though he would.  Don't want to like him over Matt, but he has a rocket arm.

    3.  Yeah, so Grothe threw the int's -- he was looking real good otherwise.  And I agree with what others have said about his arm strength.  Hill has a much harder throw, although Grothe did hook up with a couple of medium-long passes.  I still like him best, if he can shake that interception thing.

    4.  Who is this Serverino?  He looked better than his ranking among these quarterbacks.  He also got a good amount of play time.

From what I saw tonight, there is no reason to go with justmissed as our starting qb.  He also looks a lot heavier than I remember and more than the 220 he was listed at.

  9. I think that game was lost b/c of me.

I am currently 0-6 when I travel with the Bulls.

BTW....I am going ot Kansas and UNC.  ;D

    Cyber,

I will be going to the Kansas game also, as I will already be there.  My daughter's due date is Sept. 16th and we are staying a couple of weeks.

Someone, PLEASE video our annual ass whooping of UCF for the rest of us who can't make it!  I know it is more important to be with my daughter at that time, although it IS a close call...

  10. >>Mark my words. Pat will be the starting QB by game 3. While he had tough spots last year his improvement from year 2 to year 3 was dramatic.<<

I can think of nothing that could be said that would give more comfort and aid to the enemy.  They will all be starting their second strings against us if that is the case.

Grothe is going to outshine the others to the extent that it will be too obvious to keep him out.  With two threats (Grothe and Ponton) we will excel.

  11. I have had a good feeling about Matt since we landed him.  I think he may well be the next Blackwell and this team is going to take off with him providing a second dimension.  I hope the many dropped passes we experienced up to now were a result of passes delivered in less than optimum position for the receiver.  I am psyched about Ponton and think that with Hall gone, he will the chance to flourish.  Great year coming, I'm tellin' ya.

  12. FSU is on the list...at 23 I believe.

And I certainly hope UCF finishes construction soon--I'm actually looking at getting my masters there...  I've mentioned it to a few people and I'm already getting made fun because I'm considering it.

It's OK, don't worry.  I got my Master's there in I/O Psych.  Just do what I do -- lie about it! *G*  Go Bulls!!

  13. HAH!  You said it yourself, now I can rip on you all I want!  The cat is out of the bag!  Abbadad is a DIRTY UCF-er!   ;)

Actually, I'm looking at UCF for my Ph.D program down the road.  They're the only school south of Greensboro that offers a Ph.D program in what I want to study.

You have to admit it though -- It took cajones to admit it on this board!  USF asked me to consider the PhD program there, but wouldn't let me work for the first two years.  Since I as already thirty something with two kids and a mortgage, that wasn't an option.

I am green and gold all the way.  I just finished beating UCF 77-17 on PS2.  God that feels good!  The bummer is that I will be in Kansas while my daughter gives birth when our second annual "Beatdown of Mousetown" takes place.  The good thing is that I will still be in Kansas the next week for our AWAY GAME!!!

Good luck on the PhD thing.  When you finish, I understand that there are ways to change the diploma to a school that can play football.  Say, Rice Maybe???

  14. I comprehend that you have been making the same posts for years telling everyone how bad the USF program is.  If that's the way you feel, then quit rooting for them.  Why would you want to pay attention to something that you think is horrible?

You never took Psych 101?  Behavior which is rewarded tends to be repeated.

  15. why will usf be included next year?

    Steve,

I really believe that we will do great next year.  I am psyched about Ponton.  He always had to run in Hall's shadow, but now he has the limelight.

We have some untried (largely) QB's who I believe will seriously be contending for the position.  I don't think next year's QB slot is being handed to one person, despite what some people think.  There should be a true contest for it.

Now if we come up with an aerial threat, our opponents will have to deal with a balanced team -- something we haven't had in a long time.  With the schedule coming up, we could really rock.  The possibility of being ranked in the top 25 is a reality.

I know that I am an optimist and get really excited about this team.  That doesn’t make me naïve.  Just easier to be around. ;D
