  1. That stinks, Ty.  I work for the City of Lakeland and know that the area has some...er...maturing yet.

Are you going to be at 210 Martini and Wine bar on Pine next Thursday night for the Lakeland Alumni Chapter event?  I am and have forced my boss to attend.  I told him that since he has moved to Lakeland and since it is a USF town all the way, he HAS to be a Bull fan!  He has even started reading the Bulls articles in the Ledger and asking questions about the team.  Luckily, he is a big defense guy, so I am getting him stoked on our linebacker squad.

Reverse Authority Expression -- a new management technique I invented!

  2. I think we also need to remember that Capogna's Dugout has been there to support all of our USF Bulls efforts.  The Preseason Tailgate is going to be awesome and Al Capogna has really stepped up in providing the site for all of this to happen. GO BULLS! Let them know how much we appreciate them leading the charge!

I just sent them an e-mail telling them that I will be coming down from Spring Hill for the event and thanking them for having it.

Others can email them at Capognas@aol.com.

  3. ...

Can't freakin' wait!  My first year with season tickets!!!!!!!

    LOVE That Enthusiasm  :exclamation

How long have you been a FootBULL fan  :question

I graduated in 94.  I was dead set against a football team because I was proud that we were known for our academics.  I figured that the football thing would detract from that.

Then they got football and I was psyched!  But I was just entering a Master's program (don't ask me where and embarass the @^#% out of me) and it took me five and one half years to get through it (due to commuting and work -- could only go part time at night).  I graduated that in 03, but wouldn't allow myself to go to more than one game per season.  Discipline, man!  I was in a very tough program.  Since then, I have been going when I could (I entered another four year academic program for Lay Leadership in my diocese three months later), trying, again, to maintain discipline and focus.  With one year left, I can no longer do it!  I had to break down and join my Bulls Brothers in a patholocical frenzy about this team.  Discipline is nice, but highly over rated.  Like my wife now says with visible distaste, "IT'S ALL ABOUT FOOTBALL, ISN'T IT?????"

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is!

I can't wait to meet all of you at the August Tailgate.  Look for Grateful Dad and say Hi.  I wish you were coming, ET.

  4. i love rayjay

I totally agree.  We will not have seats and other amenities (like beer) at an OCS.  The seats mean alot with three fusions and three other herniated discs in my spine.  I sat on concrete at the Orange Dump and swore that I would never go back.  We could never build an OCS as good as RayJay.

  5. The constant attention that UCF'ers (past and present) give our university is deliberate.  They know that if they stopped hounding us that they would be off of our radar screen, for the most part.  Now their politicians have to take up the fight because Leavitt is too much for GO.  It is the only way to keep a relationship alive -- a relationship they need.

If anyone wants to understand why a battered wife keeps going back to her abusive husband, watch the actions of UCF fans.  That unfortunate example sheds some light on the pathological obsession that they have.  Hell, they just don't get the message; they just can't leave us.  It is kind of sick.  There should be a twelve step program for them.

Even sports writers and politicians can't make me take the ugly girl to the prom.

  6. Life now begins to have more meaning for you!  Excellent.  May you be a courageous, loving father with passion and integrity.  Remember, the one thing that your kid will want from you more than anything else is your time!!!.  Give it freely.  God bless you and your wife.

  7. I was a presenter at a conference last week.  It was an annual conference of public sector human resource professionals from all over the state and it was held at the Marriot Waterside downtown.  I wore a different USF shirt everyday I was there.  Saw a few others, also.

I also had to introduce a rather well known labor attorney at the largest session.  As I read his bio to the audience, I noticed that he had been an adjunct professor at the USF College of Business.  So after I read aloud his rather impressive bio I said, "Folks, this is something I didn't know -- _____ was an adjunct professor at the greatest university in Florida -- the University of South Florida here in Tampa".

    I'm always tryin'.

And yes, there is a Bulls tag and bumper sticker on my truck.

  8. I wish some jerks would stop having this selective memory

Cool your jets, little man.  It is off season and people are speculating.  If you are unable to contain your frustration I would advise you to change your tactics.  Some of us take being insulted personally, especially by someone needing the anonymity of the internet in order to embolden themselves. Take it to heart, son.

  9. "IF" he takes over....realistically speaking nothing I saw in the spring game, or at practice put Matt worlds ahead of PJ.  Right now there is no major injustice occurring because PJ is still the starter.  If history shows, Matt will get lots of minutes in the first two, maybe three games even if he isn't the starter.

Matt has lots of time, and will have his time.  He's still maturing, but he hasn't decisively won anything yet.  It may pain people to say it but for the time being they need to stay behind PJ, he has shown at times that that faith can be rewarded- and with a bit more consistency can be strong enough to bring us enough victories to go bowling.

What any of our quarterbacks has over PJ right now is that they are not PJ.  I admire your patience (seriously), but PJ is a known quantity.  I didn't see my faith rewarded.  We were a running game away from sandlot football.  There was no passing game to the extent that our opponents knew that all they had to cover was our running game.  The greatest thing we could do to boost the confidence of our opponents is to have them see PJ come back out on the field.  "To continue to do the same thing and expect a different result" was Einstein's definition of insanity.  I would rather, at this point, have an unknown talent out there than our current qb.  But we will see by the third game.

  10. I don't know what your budget is (you didn't give a range), but the last thing I asked for, I got (to my surprise).  Two season tickets -- not the greatest seats, but they have my name on them.  In exchange I agreed that they will cover all of my gift receiving holidays for the year.

Otherwise, I ask for USF polo and long sleeved shirts for work.

  11. Call Bob Fiallo, ((813)974-3288 or bfiallo@admin.usf.edu) one of the most pro-Bulls I've ever met. He's in charge of "BULLS COUNTRY" and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to hook anyone up with some of BULLS COUNTRY propaganda just as long as it's going to be shown somewhere. We just got a bunch of posters, stickers and window clings and are now telling local businesses that if they wanna be BULL Friendly, we'd be more than happy to send them some BULL FANS!

T J's (restraunt and ice cream shop) on Indian Rocks Beach was the first to help us out. we gave him a B.C. poster and some stickers and he let us cut down the coconuts out of his trees so we can paint them up and hand them out during the homecoming parade. Be sure to check him out if you get that way.  Everyone needs to do their part spreading the Green & Gold wherever they live.

These buisnesses should be recognized and patroned regulary... Maybe we should start a "BULL FRIENDLY" list on here so people know where to support them and support BULLS COUNTRY!!!

Excellent!  My brother owns a breakfast/lunch diner in Ybor and has gator stuff in there.  I was wondering where I could get some USF stuff for when I sneak in and rip that crap off of his walls!

Tell you what, fellow maniacs.  Go to Frank's Biggest Burgers at 4935 East 7th Avenue in Ybor and tell my brother Steve that you want Bull's stuff up there right away (do it with a smile and tell him Chuck sent you -- he is quite large).  Thanks.

  12. you guys must have been following a different spring than me. There are only two problems with Grothe right now, and that's underpar arm strength and interception issues...let me remind you he's only a redshirt freshmen and PJ's great arm strength is pretty much worthless if he rifles a ball over the reciever's head or into the turf. I think PJ will start because Leavitt is loyal to him and he's consistant if nothing else, however, Grothe is not as far off as some of you may want to believe.

Hear, Hear!!  I would rather gamble with what little I have seen with Grothe than be sure of what we have gotten from Justmissed.  I say we give Matt a good long look.
