  1. Don't worry gentelmen, Jonathan may look soft, but he is a menace on the football field. Pic to follow. (LMAO) Pic of Jonathan charging the court just prior to beating the crap out of Duke's Christian Laettner (sweet moments in Uconn lore) Pic of Jonathan after taking away this little fella's sword. Pics of the aftermath can not be shown here due to its graphic content Jonathan showing off as he rubs his butt against a cactus bush. They don't make em much tougher than this DW
  2. Thanks Velcro for feeling my pain. I thought this kind of thing only happened in the ACC..... go figure?? Actually, this isn't the first incident with athletes her in Connecticut. Our most recent problem was with a kid named Antonio Kellogg. Arrest for drug possession and resisting arrest. What a loser. He was in part the reason, in my opinion, for Ucon's early exit in last years NCAA tournament. That is when the problems became public and Kellogg was suspended. It left us with no backup at point guard. It is unfortunate this kind of thing happens. Yet, we have to remember these kids are very young. Thug? I don't know. Perhaps that is a bit harsh, but that is what can be expected to be said from those (not you) that want to revel in a rival's disgrace. It is part of sports and I take no offense. What goes around comes around and it will likely happen at USF as well, if not already ...... hmmmm, who is that young QB (Hill) you all have coming to town??? Not exactly squeaky clean now is he??? DW
  3. Well guys, I just came on here to alert you all to recent developments at UCONN today. It is sickening to say the least. I am posting a link for you so you can see what some of us Uconn fans are saying and there are also links to an article previewing Uconn's season this year. Uconn depth is going to take a hit. Branch is the best of the group and played well for us last year. This is truly a bad day for Uconn and the Big East. Just when we get the ACC crapola behind us, this has to happen. http://www.bigeastboards.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=642 I hope this is helpful to those wanting to learn more about Uconn and what the impact will be. Personally, I think the team will be just fine. The school's reputation is going to be tarnished to a degree AND THIS IS WHAT I FIND MOST UNACCEPTABLE > DW
  4. Bulliever, I guess I read to much into your greeting. I thought my reputation from the old board preceeded me here I didn't mean to say forum, I meant to say Uconn website. I don't spend a lot of time going to the Uconn Website as I find there are better sources (actually) for Uconn data. I have made an inquiry on the Big East board I post on and have some more info for you. The Big East web site figure was backed up by that reported by the NCAA. Here are two links to verify the information: http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/mainpage.jsp http://kenn.com/sports/football/ncaa/ Thank you for explaining the USF attendance issue. Yes, those wishing to slam USF fan support and accused them of inflating attendance figures did try to make their case by using that Pitt game for one. Velcro, Thanks for enlightening me about USF's big wins. I look forward to our matchup in December and you better hope the Bulls come through for you .... or a whole heap of cow manure is going to be heading back your way DW
  5. Velcro wrote: The Uconn wins are nothing to brag about. Louisville and Cincy do not impress me either. When did you beat Pitt? Now that IS impressive. Uconn beat them last year. Everyone thought Uconn beating Pitt spelled doom for the Panthers. Ya right, they went on to have a great season while Uconn took a step back due to the injury to Tyler King - our best defensive lineman. SO what was more impressive? Uconn's win over Pitt or USF's? I dunno ???? Uconn HAS proven a lot more than USF. For one, which proved we could beat Army ;D (ouch). No one realized just how hard it was going to be for Uconn in their first year in the Bigeast. USF is just about to find out. It will be much tougher to get a win here than it did in C-USA. If I remember correctly, USF only had for C-USA wins???? USF MAY get two wins in the Big East their first year. If you manage to get 4, then that would be a tremendous statement. However, getting one of those two will have to come at the expense of Uconn. Just don't see it happening. So in the end, my "rules" was just to get ones dander up and I suppose I succeeded to some degree. You are right, we both have a lot to prove next season. My point is that there is just a bit more on the line for USF because there are a lot of doubters betting on USF being a bust for the Big East. I don't think like that at all, I think USF is going to be scary goos in a couple of years. Bullieve, thanks for the welcome. I won't be attacking people here, but I'll take it as a compliment that you would think me capable of such a thing. I did get personal on the old BE fan forum, but mostly out of necessity due to the total lack of moderating on that board. If you were referring to me showing Velcro my butt, I certainly hope that Velcro didn't take that as a personal attack. Just some lighthearted smack is all and I have enjoyed our exchanges. As for that attendance thing. The Uconn forum is not the official site for reporting attendance. They likely listed 40,000 because it looked good I don't know? The Big East website lists the Huskies average attendance at 39,304 for 7 games. I know that is not correct either. I believe that the NCAA counts atual fannies in the seats - not tickets sold or given away free. So I suppose the NCAA would be the best source to get official attendance records. I am not aware of any free promotions. Students get a discount, but I am not aware of any promotions where the gates were opened free of charge. Uconn has not had to do that as we have had no problem selling season tickets. Last year's season ticket sales were @ 26K. They did sell 1,000 at the spring game which was a huge day for season ticket sales. Uconn ran a special "tag"sale that day where all unsold seats were tagged. That way you could actually see the seats before you bought them. This turned out to be a very popular and successful way to sell season tickets. Uconn just might hit 30K season ticket holders this year. Certainly we will hit that mark by 2007. What is USF actual turnstile figurs? Many are saying that USFs actual attendance is closer to 10,000 than 26,000. What is your say on that? DW
  6. A swift kick and run to the nuts, a blow delivered by none other than Jonathan, should be enough to take that big bull down DW
  7. Just a little comment from a real Husky fan. Great news articles you all posted up here. I like this topic and clearly some have way too much times on their hands Sure, I am one to talk... It guess if you want to read into all that, they really isn't too much you can gauge the Hukies on right now. We are young, but we still have some depth, experince and talent. In fact, this is the most talented team Ucon has ever had. Can Edsall coach this team into a respectable season? Most of us Uconn fans believe a 6-5 season is realistic. Of course USF is counted in that win collumn ;D DW
  8. Well the time has finally come. WELCOME USF FANS TO THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE !!!!! DW4uconn
  9. Not a good looking man, kind of scary looking. Good lucjk to Depaul. I was shocked that Dave Leitao would leave Depaul to coach for the lowly ACC team. He could have done rgeat things at Depaul, which will beneifit by its new affiliation in the Bigeast. I know Dave Leitao well as he was an assitant coach for the best BB program (some bias there) in the land - MY UCONN HUSKIES !!!!! DW
  10. I don't know where USF stands, but Big East soccer is tough. Despite that, my UCONN HUSKIES have been NATIONAL CHAMPIONS ........ TWICE [smiley=grinr.gif] DW
  11. Bulliever, the GOLDEN ARCHES WAS CLASSIC !!!! Great stuff :: It all comes down to marketing. Marquette is in a new conference so there is a lot of money to be made by changing their logo and name. I like the new logo, but the name sucks. I am going to post a link to this topic on the forum I regularly post on. Thanks for the laugh. DW
  12. Ya, and her sister Kate was hot too. It ws great when the two of them were playing for the Mountaineers at the same time. I watched as many of those games as I could. Those two were a great draw for WVU. Talking about cute coaches, how about that lady BB coach for Oklahoma (or is it Oklahoma State?) The cutest Uconn Husky basketball player? Pam Webber!!! She graduated about 4 years ago, not sure if I could still dig up a pic of her, but man was she hot DW
  13. Correct, only the schools that sued got games. However, I suspect other games will be crafted in the future. In the mean time, I think the settlement was lousy for those schools that sued. I am sure more money was spent on the lawsuit than was recived in return. For all we went through, Uconn recieved $1 million and a home/away series with UVA. This doesn't make this Uconn fan very happy. Just he same, it WAS inthe best interesets of the Big East to settle the matter and move on. I suppose we won the public image battle as it shows that, in settling, that the ACC did something wrong. It would be great if the Big East could capitalize on this, but part of the settlement was that the BE & ACC would not comment on it. DW
  14. Cubanbull, I also am a member of that board. I only posted a few times. DW4uconn
  15. Perhaps so, but look who is on the cover of that magazine GO HUSKIES !!!! DW
  16. The topic could have been 3 things to watch out for 1. Terry Caulley 2. Cornell Brockington 3. Larry Taylor We also have another very talented back in Matt Lawrence. Uconn is going to be more run orientated this year. Because our number one strength is the run, look for the Huskies to run the opition alot. Also, I have heard credible reports that Uconn is going to play some wish bone. For those who never heard of Taylor, he is a lighting fast spark plug. He is as ever exciting to watch as Caulley. Both these guys are built similar. Taylor he a bit faster where as Caulley perhaps is a bit stronger. Caulley played well in the spring game. He had a couple bursts for big plays. He says he is back, but the report is that he still is not running with the same aggressiveness he did before his freak injury (no one touched him). Uconn has depth at running back. The key will be can our young offensive line create holes for them. We lost three big trees to graduation last year. It will be especially hard to replace Ryan Krug - who is now trying out for the New England Patriots. DW
  17. Who says that WVU has the best Mascot? Some facts, last year that deerskin clad wierddo misfired almost as often as he blasted that danged musket pea shooter he has. Besides when it does actually work, it is annoying. Dang made me jump out of my outfit a couple times. As for ferocious, I will kick butt at any game - any mascot. Hers's a pic of me doing some pushups. Ya, Uconn tradition calls for us to do pushups after every score. Seeing how Uconn puts up a lot of points, doing all these pushups has developed my arms. This heped when I took a swing at the Scarlet Knight mascot and put him lights out for 5 miutes. Ya, with each score us Huskies have to do a total number of pushups as the score board dictates. I like to see any other mascot survive a Uconn game when we score 63 points. Do the math ..... 3 push ups after a FG, 10 pushups after the next TD, 17 pushups after the next TD ubtil the final TD - 63 pushups. Ya, I heard that buckskin whimp couldn't do even 10 pushups. What a wuss. As for that Panther mascot, well, we took care of that cat last year as well. Here's a pic of me doing pushups at a game. You may want to rethink that ferocious thing. I bite and do leg lifts as we ... if you know what I mean  ;D Later folks, Jonathan the Husky Brought to you courtesy of DW4UCONN ::toasting::
  18. Bulliever,  you are very astute  ::triggerhappy:: You have me there - no doubt about it.  Uconn, to my knowledge, only has one legitimate sell out and that was the West Virginia game. That game actually turned out to be an embarassment as 30,000 of them filed out before the 3rd Qtr ended. They are using actual seats sold, not heads, just as you assume. Funny how you bring that up though, because I hear that USF does the same thing. I have read posts about those who have attended USF games and were amazed by the posted attendance - something like 26K when it hardly looked more than 10K.  Here seems to be a case of the ketttle calling the pot black  ;D As for you Velcro [smiley=moon2.gif]  Ya that's my ass  Let's see, how do the Huskies own the Bulls? Hey, say what you want about the Huskies being newbies. So what if you won two games against a sorry arse squad of Huskies back in the stone ages. USF had a good Div 1AA program and were far better than anything Uconn could put on the field as a 1A team - seeing we were in tansition and did not have a full 1A roster yet. Hats off to you all and those wins do count and you SHOULD BE VERY PROUD of them. Any team that can beat my beloved Huskies has the right to be proud Just the same Velco, Uconn paid their dues last year and proved we belonged. If it was not for a key injury to our defensive End Tyler King, Uconn had a legitimate shot of winning the conference championship last year. With Kings injury, our defense just couldn't hold up. King's worth became clear when he returned for the Motor City bowl against Toledo. What I am saying is that USF has something to prove to the Big East. There are a lot of doubters that are extremely upset that USF was invited. I however have always supported USF's inclusion. I am very excited about te Bulls being in the Big East and can not wait for Uconn's first game in Tampa. I WILL BE THERE !! So go out there this fall and kick some butt. It is going to be difficult, but I wish you all well and hope you atleast beat Cincinatti. Rutgers and Uconn would be possibilities as well, but as I said before, you'll just have to beat us to make 'bullievers" out of many. So, Uconn rules and I am sticking to it ..... until December at least  ;D I'll end here with a toast to my new friends here in the Bullpen and I look forward to many more visits.  Great board you all have here.  ::toasting:: DW
  19. Oh contraire Velcro!! The game played in Storrs was played at Memorial stadium. It has a capacity of 16,000. We now play in a brand new stadium that seats 40,000. There are already plans to add another 15,000 seats since we have been regularly selling out the Rent (Rentchlers Field) Sorry man, this is your first year in a real conference. Uconn has grown a lot since our last two meetings. WE own YOU until you can come in to our new home and and prove you belong in the Big East  ::knighted:  We'll be throwing everything we have at you so you all better save some for your trip up here. We are loaded with offensive weapons and all we need is a QB to step up and play big .... just a small matter  Well, until then, I still maintain that UCONN rules ......... The Bulls? Well, best rest up  [smiley=cowsleep.gif] DW
  20. USF Bulls!!!  ;D We hear up here that you steers (USF) have very little fan support. Beware, Uconn is rabid about it's school. There will not be any trouble between our schools as long as the Bulls remember who rules. You heard it from me first  [smiley=whip.gif] GO HUSKIES !!!!!!!!!!! GO BIG EAST !!!!!!!! DW
  21. Awe shucks Velcro  :-[ You are quick with your facts. Just the same. That was before the Huskies had their full allotment of scholarships. We had very little to recruit with other than to say we wrer building a state of the art FB stadium and that we would soon be a FB member of the BE. Last year we lost a ton of talent. However, though it went under the radar, Uconn has done a fine job recruiting. We are young and inexperinced, but we have much better depth. By December, Uconn will be HOT. Your Bulls will not find the Northeast a pleasant place to visit in December AND the Husies are not about to make you feel any warmer  [smiley=whip.gif] unless a good spanking is something you all like down there? DW
  22. The polls on Bigeast.org are generally pretty good. However, there has been an exodus of people that used to visit the site due to they disbanded their Big East fan forum. Not much reason to visit that site any longer (because of the time of the year) unless you are one of the new schools coming in. Anyway, welcome Bull fans to the BIG EAST !!!! Uconn can not wait to get your sorry arses up there in Rentchsler field in December. We will have a chiily reception waiting for you  DW
  23. Thank you for the invitation to come visit your forum. The Bigeastboards.com encourages conversation between other BE schools. We smack, learn and enjoy friendly banter. Unlike Rivals, we encourage you all to come and socialize and let us know how proud you are to be a Bulls fan. By the way USF, WELCOME TO THE BIG EAST!!! UCONN IS GOING TO GIVE YOU A VERY COLD RECEPTION WHEN YOU COME TO VISIT US IN THE RENT (our Husky Home) GO HUSKIES !!!!!! I like my steak cooked medium ;D DW
