  1. Hmmm, you never made a typo? Good for you. :  Funny how you quote me, but you did not answer the question. Why is it the Tampa Bay area does not get behind USF? What is it that thos who love USF can do to boost interest? Or are the reports of poor PAID receipts to home games over inflated? You would think selling out HALF of a stadium is not asking too much. So what is the problem? If I can not ask this now, then what time of the year do you suggest would be more appropriate for you? Note, I will stay off your board for now on and stay on the BE board where it is obvious I belong :-X DW
  2. Wow, I guess I did hit a nerve. First off, I want everyone to know my intent was not to incite.  It was not a joke and perhaps I AM that stupid. Just asked a question is all. Second of all, you all here are a HOOT!!!!  Ya, you all sand blasted me pretty good there, but when your laughing as hard as I was (and I love to laugh), it is hard to get upset by it. I didn't have any idea how sensitive the subject was and I apologize for being so disrespectful, though it certainly was not my intent to come on your board and flame. Howie, thanks for sharing that article.  It provided the answers I was looking for. This question was brought up by others and I thought I would go to the source (the Bullspen) for USF information.  I will certainly not be coming here in the future to ask my stupid questions.  Thanks for the respect, though it obviously was more than I deserved. Griggsy wrote, " If I ever think we should change our name I'll just keep it to myself and then kick my OWN ass."  You are so RIGHT.  Perhaps I should have posted this question in the Bigeast forum of this board. These guys act like they were in a bull fight and someone wrapped barbed wire around their balls. Oh well, ole ::goodbye:: DW
  3. How do the Bulls fans feel about the current name for your university?  I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but I feel a name change might help the school's second tier perception in the state of Florida. Now that South Florida is in a BCS conference, perhaps now would be an appropriate time to change the name. I here all the time how Tampa does not get behind the Bulls and that it is mainly a pro town. Also, is Tampa really in south Florida? From what I understand, USF is a metropolitan university. So why not take on the name of the city you reside in?  Wouldn't connecticing the school name to the name of the city help fans to connect better to the school?  Also, for those not familiar with Florida, where the heck IS South Florida. As in outsider, I was not impressed when South Florida was first talked about. However, once I discovered they were in Tampa, that all changed. I would like to see the Universtiy of South Florida change its name to the University of Florida - Tampa and refer to themselves only as Tampa The advantages are that you would be better connecting to a great city.  Also, youngsters growing up in the area will hear the name Tamba Bay Buccaneers AND Tampa Bulls.  The youngsters would likely get more excited about going to see Tampa play Pittsburgh rather than South Florida playing Pittsburgh.  Also, in name recognition, kids would hear the name Miami and Tampa and will likely perceive both universities as having similar attribute, despite the few similarities. It is just a perception thing, but I believe perception is very important.  I believe it is something the university could market and benefit from. So, what do you all think of the University of Tampa or the Universtiy of Florida at Tampa?  Is there already a University of Tampa? Perhaps you all down there are happy with South Florida?  I would like to hear what you all have to say. DW
  4. First, I am please that the BE was able retain a tie to the Gator bowl. Second, I don't believe the Gator has to take the best BE team, just the one that they think will travel best and draw the most interest. If USF is bowl eligible, then I would think they would have a good shot. DW
  5. I did post it on my home forum, but it turns out the map had already been there for a couple of weeks already. I was vacationing in Florida the past two weeks and have yet to catch up on all the reading there. There are 11 pages of posts on this map alone. Anyway, one of the guys over there added the names next to the helmets. I thought maybe you guys would like to see it as well. DW
  6. I voted for Cincinnati. I really want to see USF win their first BE game DW
  7. Cygnus, Very interesting map. Did you make it yourself? Funny how most of the Div 1A schools are massed in MAC and CUSA country. Geographically speaking, theses two conferences seem best configured for the most part. Except, The MAC didn't need to pick up Temple. Also, Marshall and ECU don't fit well in CUSA anymore. Somehow, I see UCF, Temple, PSU and ECU fitting the new BE all-sports conference better than where these schools are now. Marshall would fit well too - geographically speaking. Many are big on Marshall because of their recent success. However, I don't like Marshall. I think ECU has are more promising long time future as a Division 1A program if giving the opportunity to join the BE. I believe Marshall was a flash in the pan and will eventually end up going back to the MAC. Temple belongs in the BE!! DW (I shared this map with my home board. I hope you don't mind)
  8. DJ Hernandez is going to do just fine for the Huskies. Bones will likely start, but is not strong and will likely get knocked out in the first quarter of game one. One of the Freshman will likely not redshirt, because Uconn will likely want to go with three QBs. Don't know much about either other than big things are expected of Cundiff. Uconn has done well finding the diamonds in the ruff and Cundiff is one of many Uconn recruits expected to play better than projected. DW
  9. I don't know about the article, but the guy Punzelt really did put the gamebook for sale on EBAY. The dummy didn't even try to disguise who he was as the Picture clearly showed his name on the book. It was no gag. Just an embarassment to the program : DW
  10. [quote author=BULLO12 LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL   **** dw you do have a FREAKING sense of humor!
  11. Well, those two last posts were REAL thought provoking, but if that is really how you feel and THAT is all you want to say about it, then please allow mean to bring proper meaning to the phrase "in a landslide.... Stompeding Bulls create landslide effect and bury themselves by turnovers. The Huskies bury the Bulls alive by scoring 45 points with an offensive output of over 500 total yards - 350 yards rushing!!! USF fails to score but a mere FG.  Now, I think that is what you meant by "Bulls in a landslide", right?  DW
  12. FOUR OF FIVE REINSTATED TO THE UCONN FB TEAM. From the Hartford Courant: http://www.courant.com/sports/college/football/hc-ucfoot0607.artjun07,0,3520849.story?coll=hc- Donta Moore was the only player suspended form the team. DW
  13. BEAT MIAMI !!!! Just think of what that would mean for the Bulls program and its ability to recruit the best the state of Florida has to offer. It would send the Bulls flying over the moon...... Okay, it is likely a fairy tale ...... but THEY DO sometimes come true  DW
  14. Sorry I didn't respond, I didn't see your post. The thing between you and Bulliever wnet over my head - Lost in translation I had asked for a new thread to be started on the topic of the USF vs Uconn game so not to clutter this thread. What happened was that I started a thread on the Bigeast forum and Jim did likewise on the Bullpen main form. So we have two threads going on regarding the Uconn vs USF game. I believe Bulliever was simply providing a link to the thread I started. I don't think he meant to upset anyone I guess I AM a trouble maker Anyway, you are correct Spence to see Uconn as a winnable game. So will be Cincy. After that, there will likely be very tough wins to be had for USF. I like your 10 game idea being split 5-5. The bad news is that after those ten years, I strongly believe USF will be the #1 FF program in the BE. Uconn could fight for #2 or #3. You also agree with me that the weather could be a factor. However, I think there is more to Uconn's home field advantage and I posted my opinion on the thread I started on the BE forum - the one Bulliever posted a link to. Thank you Spence for responding to me. You all have made me feel quite welcome here. Nice board you all have. DW
  15. Jim, first of all, I like how you do that "........" thing. Pretty cool. I do it too. Your the first person that I noticed that does that as well Are you a nut case like me? Well, you started a thread here on the main board and I started one on the Bigeast board ;D I'll let you Bull fans figure out where this topic belongs. Ya, our offensive line lost three monster lineman. They were recruited when Uconn was just a fledgling Div 1A school without a football stadium. All we had to recruit with were dreams. We have a stadium now, but we are still selling dreams. We have a state of the art indoor practice field under construction - a full 120 yards of state of the art indoor turf. Same as the Detroit Lions play on. We also have a state of the art training facility that will be attached to the indoor practice field. Soon coach Randy Edsall will be able to sell more than dreams. So what does this all have to do with our offensive line you may ask? Each year since the freshman year of Ryan Krug, and his two monster clones, the Huskies have been recruiting better players. Krug started all four years he played. That was one of the draws for him to come to Uconn. He was a project that Uconn took a chance on, because quite frankly, Uconn had no choice, but to search for undiscovered talent and take chances. With all the playing time, these big guys gelled as a unit and did an outstanding job by their senior year. Well, it will not take as long for Uconn to develop it's young offensive line, Uconn has since been able to recruit very well and have better talent coming out of highschool than was Ryan Krug and the other two you say Uconn will miss so much. The past two years have been tremendous for Uconn in regards to recruiting offensive linemen. Ya, they may be inexperienced, but they are talented. That TRUE freshman center you talk about. He isn't as green as a true freshman. He actually enrolled at CT for the Spring Semester. He was able to participate in spring practice. A huge jump on a "TRUE" freshman. As for finding holes, Uconn has Terry Caulley back as their #2 option. Ya, as good as he is, he likely will not start ahead of Cornell Brockington. So Uconn has TWO tremndously talented backs - and neither need big holes. Caulley likes to zig and zag and run over people. He is so much fun to watch- especially when he get into the open field. Strong and fast and only second best for Uconn. The we have a third back Taylor out of Florida - a small guy, but very quick. So Uconn has depth on the line and at runningback. I am not concerned. New starting QB? Bones can get the job done, but he will likely be a warm up until DJ Hernandez learns the ropes. Hernandez was a heralded recruit out of Ansonia CT. A powerhouse FB program up here. He is a terrific option QB who can flat out run. He also happens to have a very strong arm. HE is the QB of the future for Uconn. Look for Uconn to drop its pro style offensive for an option offense. Edsall is HUGE on controlling the clock. So they will establisjh the run and pick their spots when they use the passing game. Oh, almost forgot about Dan Murray - an excellent Tightend which simply gives Uconn another option. Young at QB? Ya, but this QB will have so much talent to work with that all he'll have to do id get the snap and get it to someone. He doesn't have to be flashy. Finally, you bring up the 5 player scandal. Luckily for Uconn, we got two of the best of the five back. Only one of the other players was going to compete for a starting job. Ya, we may lose some depth at DB and safety, but we got our 280 lb talented DE back. I'll take that trade off. We may likely not see any of those 3 players return this year. Who knows? What they did was beyond stupid, it was unforgivable, in my opinion. I hope they toss these 3 kids right out!! I don't know too much about USF YET, but I suppose USF will have to look at where they can most easily get their wins. So it is justified to predict wins against Rutgers and Uconn. To be honest with you, your chances of beating Uconn will be better than Rutgers. I predict Rutgers is going to have a very good year. Uconn at home and hopefully not too banged up, spells a win over USF ........ perhaps DW
  16. It can get freezing cold in October, but that is unusual. Usually the days are still warm, but the evening are cold. However, I suppose if your from Florida, any day in October up here would seem chilly The new benches at the Rent are wider and contured. A very noticable difference from the Memorial stadium benches. Seat backs can be rented as well. Their nice as they get you up off the alluminum on cold days. Aluminum likely gets hot down there. Well it freezes up here - I ended up taking my coat off during one cold day because my arse was frozen. DW
  17. Ya, that score board says it all. It must have been a very cold day in deed. The score indicates that the Huskies likely didn't play up to their capabilities. They were a very inconsistamt team back then. They likely had a bad day or were banged up form playing a Boston College the week before. Or perhaps the Huskies were up late the night before partying and terrorizing the town by firing off their pellet guns at unsuspecting old ladies.  That pic was from the old Uconn Memorial stadium. I think they may turn it into a soccer stadium. Or perhaps that is where they are going to put the new indoor practice facility? November is a funny time of the year up here. The temps could be in the 80's or we could have a foot of snow......... or both. Ya just never can predict it - unlike down there where the weather is usually consistent. You all can make fun of me all you want, but I actually love it  ;D So keep the jokes coming I am hoping for a very chilly day the late november, but that is only one home field advantage we have up here. The other is that you all are going to be forced to play in front of a packed stadium of 40,000 screaming lunatics. The Rent gets extremely loud. This will make it difficult on your offense. Thirdly, every time Uconn gets a first down, our announcer say"IT"S ANOTHER UCONN" and the crowd yells FIRST DOWN. It is real annoying to opposing teams ..... well, I find it annoying as well . This is something that will rattle your defense and fluster there composure. The Bulls will likely start making stupid mistakes and over running a play.... they'll try ANYTHING to keep that annoying another from chantins "it's another Uconn first down" So there you have, just a few examples of Uconn's home field advantage DW
  18. Mission 9, depends on what you mean by November ........ the 27th ??? Okay, it is early still. I really want to know how we match up, because honestly, I see Uconn, USF and Cincinnati making up the bottom of the conference this year. Who will have the humiliation of finishing last? Anyway, November is fine DW

Uconn is going to send the Bulls home with leather all softened and broken in DW "DW ... Here are my reasons why USF will win... U Conn's inexperienced offensive line... a true freshman at center (good, but young) and you have no OL depth. You may have two good running backs, assuming Caully can come back from his injury, but they may have a hard time getting holes. New starting QB... Although by the end of the year, the new QB will have some real game experience... (current total experience: 4 of 7 for 22 yards)... If Bonislawski can't do it, then it could be trouble. Defensive troubles, off the field... Five players were arrested over a gun-shot issue... two of them have had their charges tossed, and the other three applied for pre-a trial diversion program... they are currently suspended, and will meet with their coaches soon. If they are not reinstated, there could be some holes on an otherwise strong defense -- especially in the secondary. Mostly, I think USF and U Conn are about equal in terms of talent and ability... U Conn's has more experience on defense, and USF has more on offense... I may revise this prediction once the season starts... but right now, I see USF winning a close game (something like 24-21)... 20. Ya, it is a bit early to be talking about a football game six months away, but I am just a fan fanatic that can't help himself. I am real excited about USF joining the BE in a few weeks. I watched a couple of your games last year (well parts anyway) and I want to learn more about what you all think of your chances this year in the Bigeast. I have been boasting about my Uconn Huskies all over the place on the Bullspen. I think Uconn will win rather easily over your Bulls and I will get into the reasons why in a bit. Right now I have to defer the computer to my six year old. It seems I have ran over my turn. He is showing me the clock DW
  21. JIM, GREAT RESPONSE !! Now we have a debate going where we can each learn something about our two teams. Thanks man. However, I ma going to start a new thread on this if you don't mind. I don't want this thread to be corrupted by Uconn dialogue. Hmmmmmm, did I say that? Anyway, Could you post this response as a new topic? I will later if you don't get the chance. Right now I am dying of heat stroke. I have been on the hot sun coaching baseball and need a refresher to cool down. It will also give me some time to do a little research. It is in the 80's up here today. I had kids saying THEY DIDN"T WANT TO PLAY. Has anyone out there who ever coached heard that one before? We up here are not used to the sun and heat. It has been unusually cold and rainy. It was brutal today!! DW
  22. Jealous? Hardly. I am pissed off they banned me over there for no reason. Answer me this bullsrule. If you have TWO posters causing trouble on another board, would you say on your forum that you would welcome ALL except ONE - the ONE being targeted by a member of your own forum- while saying the behavior of your own MODERATOR was acceptable?  Be honest It is not a matter of who has the better board. I never said one board was better than the other. What happened was that those guys over on Proboards got VERY mad at me for speaking the truth on this board. I was warned they wanted to ban me a month ago. When I heard this, I came back here and modified the post that upset them so, as to offer them peace. Go back to the beginning of this thread and you will see my modification. So I go back and post a response to what they were saying a couple of days ago. My responses are right there on the link. I copied them because I knew they would censor me. However, BAN ME? For what? I think there is something rotten and I'd just like to know what it is. They have several posters on the Bigeastboards.com. We never banned them. We showed special restraint in regards to the advertising they were doing on our board. Everyone has free choice to visit or join any forum they want. WHo cares who has the BEST forum? However, we all should be allowed to exist without other boards being a menace. Finally, jealous? If you read my responses then you will see that I posted a link to their website for all those that wanted to join them. Doesn't look like any made the move however. There was a SERIOUS problem on our board and I find it more than a coincidence that it was one of their moderators contributing to the problem - something they seem to have (or were willing) to over look.  Anyway, all has been resolved on our board and we are back to normal AND I was banned from a board for NO REASON. Oh well, Life moves on ..... PS. I love this forum. I come here every day  Respectfully, DW
  23. Spence, How often has USF gone north in December to play FB? It is going to be cold. How cold is anyone's guess. I think Uconn has a HUGE advantage playing at home. DW
  24. Your WELCOME. It was meant to be a compliment and wish for SJU to do well in their inaugural year in the Big East. Of course I can't say USF will beat my Huskies ;D DW
  25. Apparantly the administration over there on Proboards think I AM THE MENACE.  I received a thank you PM on Bigeastboards.com from one of the Admins there stating how pleased he was that I modified a post I made on this thread about a month ago that he felt put his board in an unfair negative light.  I had changed my post out of respect for both this forum and Proboards. Little did I realize he was already right on top of what goes on here because his thank you was almost simultaneous to my modification,  So, all was well, right?? Hardly. I went on to proboards a couple of nights ago and found them discussing ME and problems we at Bigeastboards.com were having on our SJU fan forum. They even posted a link to the Bigeastboards.com SJU forum so their members could see the problems we were having.  I felt compelled to respond and feel my responses to their posts were appropriate and civil, yet THEY BANNED ME!! Here is a link to what I said, does anyone think I deserved to be banned? http://www.bigeastboards.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=1001 It bothers me that it was ONE OF THEIR MODERATORS coming over to our board who was one of the primary posters causing the troubles we were experiencing. Despite the fact that one of their Moderators was acting unruly on our board, we still resisted banning the poster in question. Despite the troubles caused, we do not take banishing posters lightly. I feel I was banned unfairly by Proboards and was giving no explanation. They certainly had to be aware of the behavior of one of their moderators on another board. Yet, in their posts, they say that all would be welcomed from the Bigeastboards.com except one member - a member being targeted by the actions of one of their OWN MODERATORS. So though they could admonish a member from another board for poor behavior, nothing was said about the behavior of their OWN moderator that was equally poor. Please remove this post if you at all feel it is in any way inappropriate for me to be discussing this matter on this thread or your board period. I certaining do not want to cause a problem for anyone.  We at Bigeastboards.com want to continue our good relationship with the Bullspen.com. DW
