They'll be all sorts of rumors, lies, etc. but the bottom line is the money made the difference.  Matt Grothe suggested he got the same NIL from USF that Auburn gave him - not even close, at all.  Light years apart....

The point is, prepare for these mistakes.  Hopefully many can learn.  If it's money you're after, you have an entire lifetime to earn/create wealth.  If it's football you love, go somewhere where you can play.  Don't get paid to be a depth piece.  These young guys have too many people screaming in their ears about money - as if they're all a number 1 pick or will NEVER have another chance in life.  It's sad.  As if money were #1.  Sad to see it happen to a nice young man like Brian.  I hope he gets back on the field in a good situation.

I'm willing to bet that if the rumors are true this past year will be the highest amount he ever makes in a year in his lifetime.

Saw MP play in high school vs Jefferson when Casey Weldon's son was playing QB for the Dragons and was probably a bigger recruiting name.  MP shone but, to be honest, I didn't foresee what was coming.  He has been nothing short of amazing this season.  Congrats to one who has done Pasco proud.

Taggart offered him usf in the spring of his sophomore year. He offered him at oregon and FSU too. Interesting that our former DC eventually signed him at IU.61 TDs and only 6 picks his last 2 years. Great to see local kids succeed.

My point was not about big men opening lanes but about needing outside three point shooting to do so. Having little inside games we need drives to the basket as the poster stated, but you can’t do that if you aren’t a threat from outside.

ah sorry. thought you meant we needed a big guy inside to open things up. I for one am glad we don't have a Tchewa type that stymies our offense.

This team has no big guy inside. It needs to open up court to allow those drives. You need three point shooting to open it up.

Right now we are #8 in conference in three point shooting at 32.9%,I remember when we used to be dead last in NCAA

We are #11 in league in number of three points taken, so it isn’t like we are going crazy with them.

This team will live and die on whether it can force turnovers and hit from outside. If it can’t hit from outside, there will be no room for any drives to the hoops.

Still way more exciting to watch than any team Gregory had even with more talent..

traditional big men that play with their back to the basket don't open up anything. they clog the lanes and don't allow for penetration.

unless they can run to the rim on a pick and roll or knock down the three they are pretty much worthless on offense.

I agree this team has been fun to watch. Need a real big. I also wish we would drive to the hoop more. IMO this team takes too many 3's. When they are off they hurt themselves. Reid also needs to shoot more. Kid is good.

FAU averaged 26 threes per game last year. it's modern basketball especially for the smaller programs.

it's like saying all we need in football is an o-line like Michigan and then we can run a pro-style offense. or we can run a spread with smaller more athletic o-linemen that are actually available to us.

true quality big men that you can build around are very rare and are not coming here.

why clog the lane with an oaf that stymies an offense.

    I don’t like lefties.

Looks like charlie strong and gilbert may have agreed with you. seems like shaun king really wanted him here.

USF made another push for Penix that might have worked if Taggart never left. King said he “was fighting an uphill battle in the building” because Penix is left-handed — a fact that makes some coaches rethink play designs and blocking assignments.

The Bulls’ visit included King (then the running backs coach) and head coach Charlie Strong but not offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Sterlin Gilbert. The Hoosiers, however, didn’t just bring coach Tom Allen and quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan. They brought everyone else, too

The state’s programs whiffed three different times on Washington’s star quarterback.

People keep bringing up FSUs depth bc it's relevant. Entire front 7 plus freshmen everywhere else and a third string qb. FSU wont be going to the SEC it will be the big ten.

You keep saying how everyone isnt strong, but the thing is neither is the SEC. It was Bama for the longest time and it is cycling to different teams. Clemson was able to step up and challenge them and now Georgia is the team.

    Lay off the $EC kool-aid.

lol SEC has won 6 of the 9 college football playoffs. they have 3 different national champions in the past 9 years. sure the sec isn't strong.....

like I said Georgia was missing 20 players including an nfl olineman, their top receiver, a 5 star DE etc.

they beat fsu by 60 points

Third string true freshman qb ...... FSU wasn't chosen by the Committee because they were not a top 4 team without Travis, but the team that played UGA was a shadow of the one that got snubbed for the playoffs. The OB game just showed what multiple years of top 5 recruiting looks like ...

true freshman QB didn't give up 63 points

The organizers of the bowl game should sue them.

the same old guys that have made millions and millions for years without anything going to the players.....

laughable that people want to fine them or penalize them. how about you give the players that play in the game a bonus??

financial incentives go a long way in motivating people. just ask anyone that collects a pay check

They would simply fake injuries to avoid the fine.  I am not so sure that the bowl system has simply outlived its usefulness.  Next year with 12 teams in the playoffs the games will be even more irrelevant and the problem will exacerbate into a death spiral IMO.

bowls with the exception of the playoffs are glorified scrimmages.

don't blame players that want to go to nfl for opting out.

simple fix for transfer players. open the window after the bowls. what did they think was going to happen when the window closes jan 2

oh and as far as nil money is concerned just hold some back and give them a bowl bonus.

Maybe very recently, but otherwise that makes no sense.

TX has had one good season in 20 years and suddenly theyre back because theyve been playing in such a tough big 12? OU finished one spot higher in the CFP than LSU this year.

The big 12 isn't  strong. it benefited ou tremendously to play in such a weak conference just as it benefited fsu to play in a weak conference. look at their results in the playoffs. 0-4 since 2014 with 3 losses against sec teams.

fsu will be a mediocre program in the sec. they haven't been any good in the last decade and they won this year with transfers and a weak conference. texas and ou will have nowhere near the same success.there are just too many top notch programs to be consistently good.

georgia exposed fsu yesterday with their depth. please don't bring up that fsu was missing so many players. georgia was missing 20 players including their top receiver, an o-lineman first round nfl pick, a 5 star DE and other starters.fsu will have to compete week in and week out with these type of programs.

this lsu program that you keep bringing up has played in the college football playoffs once in the last 10 years.

    Or when assumptions are made.

This is it.  Hope this helps.

you're right. I shouldn't assume a post in a football thread is related to football.....

and you probably shouldn't assume he meant they miss the conference for the basketball.

  13. 6 hours ago, USFBULL_08 said:

They smashed a 9-3 LSU team. FSU isnt moving up where the talent gap is that much different.

an lsu team that finished third in the west. just wait until texas and ou are added. now do that every week for 9 weeks.

fsu has had so much success BECAUSE they are in a much weaker conference.

On a related note, I saw a WVU fan on X pining for the old Big East, wanted to see it brought back.

    Hard to blame them.

most fans of schools who move up in conferences for the increased money overtime realize that mediocrity on the field comes with it.

not sure why fans care how much money the school can bring in if it means they will win less.

FSU should understand moving to the SEC will make them mediocre.

They are making better shot selections and not taking the 3 at every opportunity; becoming better at taking shots that come to them and opting for higher percentage ones. Also, sticking to a smaller rotation, which helps with players adjusting to the flow of the game. Knox only took 4 shots today, just hitting one.

Noticed in the first half of the women's game that CJF is also sticking to a core group of players and not just firing up a bunch of 3s. Both coaches seem to be following the same game plan from the start of the season to now. Outside of Blasigh's 1-9, it is probably the best half of basketball the women's team has played this year.

how can we post up with smaller players....

we need to keep jacking 3's. 19 this game.

    shot 42%. That's 1.26 points per shot.

    That's like shooting 63% from 2

like us going to the line too. attack the basket. shooting nearly 10% better and 6 more attempts per game compared to last year. most efficient way to score.
