Yeah, I don’t totally understand how this works. Can somebody explain to me why they are in but we are not?

They beat ranked Texas A&M in November and ranked Arizona in December. Apparently that’s all that mattered, because none of the other metrics say they had a better season than we did. And have to wonder if they are in this year if they weren’t a Final Four team last year.

Is it the refs when both games vs UAB they got to the line much more than us? Maybe they just are bigger/stronger and play a style that lends to the refs making the calls.

We had long stretches of missed shots.

Yep. They are a bad matchup for us right now because of how physical they play and how hard they take it to the rim. Not having Corey Walker may have been the difference in this game.

  3. The real issue, I believe, is FAU. They’re somehow a lock for an at-large without winning the league regular season or postseason - because of one win in November and one in December? Our “bad” losses back in 2023 include two 20-win teams (Hofstra and UMass) and an 18-win team (CMU). Not sure why we even played the conference season at this point once FAU beat Texas A&M and Arizona. And their losses to Bryant and FGCU were of zero consequence, I guess? Or their five conference losses? Or their loss to USF head-to-head? That’s right, they made the Final Four a year ago, so they’re in.

  4. So they’re telling us FAU gets an at-large based on two wins in 2023 (with losses to FGCU and Bryant) and we’re out based on two losses in 2023? FAU lost five times in league play to our three AND lost to us head-to-head. They’re in based on beating Texas A&M in November and Arizona in December. Nothing after that mattered. Hmmm

Yeah, I've never critiqued anything about this team. 🙄   Whatever.  You're full of it.  You pounce on any team that struggles at all.  Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, Soccer.  It's what you do.  You both pounce every time baseball loses a game.  You don't like the fact that I posted his actual stats , then too bad.

Whatever, dude. Anyone who’s been here for awhile knows what the score is with you.

  6. Clearly, you posted his stats to rebuke the idea that perhaps there could be some expectations for him to generate more power with Boser out of the lineup. One day, I really hope you’ll come clean about your connection to this program. You are way too sensitive to anything that might be considered criticism of the program/coaching staff to be just an interested observer. I’ve been watching USF baseball since Scott Hemond and Dave Eiland, spent years inside with Coaches Cardieri and Peters, I’ve been to Sun Belt, Metro, C-USA, Big East and AAC tournaments, regionals and a super regional, so I have no desire to see anything but success for USF baseball. But I surely don’t think everything they do is above any sort of critique. For the most part, you do. My reading comprehension skills are pretty solid.

  7. You are one sensitive dude. I assume your point was to say that he IS playing well. Don’t think anyone said he wasn’t. Just saying that with Boser out it would be great if he picked up the power numbers like he’s capable - and, yes, I realize they pitch around him a good deal. Really doesn’t seem like - in your eyes - anyone is allowed to critique this team at all. If I’m misreading you, my apologies.

Brutch has been quiet at the plate, he's due to break out. Granted, he leads the entire country in walks so he hasn't had the most opportunity. It should even out soon and he'll be hitting bombs.

Was going to say, with Boser on the shelf, it’s time for Brutch to step up and play like a POY candidate . . . and Snow, too.

Coach’s  plays take way to long to get started and way to long to run. Every time down the floor takes 8 seconds to set up and 10 seconds to run. 80% of the  if the play doesn’t work the player has to go one on one because there is no time left. That worked in previous years because we had multiple players that could shoot or drive it, with this team that doesn’t work. Coach Fernandez is a good coach but he didn’t didn’t do a good job adjusting to the players he has this year.

The coaching is one thing, but I’m a little bit more concerned by the recruiting and development. We got little to nothing this year from so many players that you would expect to make the step up like we’ve seen in the past - Ascensio, Johansson, Brito, Gonzalez, etc. The transfers were much more productive. But . . . in Jose we still trust. He’ll get it turned back around.

  10. Too much for this team to overcome with their challenges offensively. Sammie’s injury really was the end of the season. Probably astonishing that they won 19 games with their lack of options on offense.

Lots of offseason questions to answer:

You have some building blocks if Sammie comes back fully healthy along with Levy and Blasigh, but who’s the PG? Who’s the post? Is this all we can expect from Danie and Carla?

  11. Yep, I don’t see us scoring 10 runs every outing - certainly not in league play. Pitching staff is less than impressive. I’ve watched about six games and there’s not a whole lot of juice from any of the guys we’re wheeling out there on the mound. Hunter Mink has some noticeable velocity and movement, but that’s about it. The lineup has bite, but that staff doesn’t give you much confidence that it’s going anywhere. None of the starters showed anything all weekend.

This one hurts because I felt with this win and the first game we were getting an at large regardless of what some of you thought.  I still think we are in play with a loss in the championship game but definitely not guaranteed.  Either way we were bound to **** the bed eventually, and we did it in Tulsa.  I have no idea if they rebound and come out guns a blazing but I would bet they will.  The monkey is off their back, take a breath and realize you can’t win them all.  This team is resilient and can ball, bad loss but we have suffered far worse, we are resilient as well.

I honestly thought it was coming vs. SMU, or Charlotte, or even Tulane . . . but not this one. Shows you how predictable any of this is.

  13. Our league is underrated, but the reason we’re not considered for the at-large is our non-conference schedule. We clearly scheduled light on purpose to help us transition with a new staff/team. It was the right thing to do at the time. It backfired because we ended up being solid. Next year, we’ll certainly step up the non-league schedule to give us a chance at some quality wins.

Today was a reality check. We’ll probably get another one in a few hours when Karter Knox announces his plans.
