The University of South Florida football team will debut in the BIG EAST with a September 24 home game against Louisville as part of a final schedule released today. The Louisville game follows previously announced games at Penn State (September 3) and at home against Florida A&M (September 10) and Central Florida (September 17) and precedes a first-ever match-up with Miami (October 1) in the Orange Bowl. With Penn State, Miami and a game at Pittsburgh (October 15), USF will face three opponents that have combined for eight national championships, all in the first six games of the season. In addition to Louisville, USF will have BIG EAST home games against West Virginia (October 22) and Cincinnati (November 19). In addition to the Pittsburgh game, USF’s BIG EAST road schedule includes Rutgers (November 5), Syracuse (November 12) and Connecticut (November 26). Among USF’s 11 opponents in 2005, seven played in Bowl Games, including Louisville (Liberty), Miami (Peach), Pittsburgh (Fiesta), West Virginia (Gator), Syracuse (Champs Sports), Cincinnati (Fort Worth) and Connecticut (Motor City). USF played its first season of football in 1997 and has rapidly moved from I-AA to Conference USA in 2003 and 2004 and now the BIG EAST. The Bulls are 55-33 in their first eight seasons of competition, all under head coach Jim Leavitt. USF season ticket information is available by calling 1-800-GoBulls.
