  1. Congrats on moving back to Florida, however, my condolences on moving to Orlando. Look forward to seeing you at the football games.
  2. I learned that definition of "voluntary" when I was in the military, boy, I did alot of "voluntary" stuff!
  3. Lon Morris fields a global team, they have kids from Mexico, Australia, Serbia, Cost Rica, Columbia and Los Angeles.
  4. U of L senior running back Michael Bush and junior quarterback Brian Brohm were among 60 candidates named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, given annually to college football's top player as chosen by the Maxwell Football Club in Philadelphia. Among the Player of the Year awards handed out nationally, the Maxwell is notable because it is presented during ESPN's Home Depot Awards Show in December. Defensive end Elvis Dumervil was the first U of L player ever to pick up a major national award last season when he won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060614/SPORTS02/606140497/1002/SPORTS
  5. Mike Williams, a former McDonald's All-American and a reserve forward at the University of Texas the past two seasons, officially has signed to transfer to the University of Cincinnati to play basketball. Williams will enroll at UC this summer. Because of NCAA transfer restrictions, he will have to sit out the 2006-07 season but will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. "Mike is a first-class person from a wonderful family. He is the kind of person and player that I want to have wearing the red and black," UC coach Mick Cronin said. "Mike has gained big-time playing experience at Texas and that will serve him well when he is able to play here. He is a very athletic forward that will benefit from our style of play. I look forward to working with Mike this year and getting him ready for the 2007-08 season." A 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward, Williams played in 32 games for the Longhorns last season, making three starts. He averaged 2.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per contest. He earned Academic All-Big 12 second-team honors. As a freshman in 2004-05, Williams played in 26 games, making one start. He averaged 3.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15.0 minutes per game. In 58 career games, he averaged 2.7 points and 3.4 rebounds. Williams earned McDonald's All-American recognition as a senior at Wilcox Central High School in Camden, Ala. He was a third-team All-America choice by Parade Magazine and garnered honorable mention All-America honors from Slam Magazine. A two-time Alabama Class 5A Player of the Year, Williams averaged 28 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks as a senior. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060609/SPT0101/606090432/1064
  6. University of Cincinnati fans, donning themselves in swoosh-covered apparel for years, had better get ready to change logos. The Bearcats are changing looks. Cincinnati formally announced its multi-year, multi-sport partnership with adidas Monday, signaling an end to Nike's domination of UC men's basketball jerseys. The agreement - which has yet to be signed - means Cincinnati's men's basketball team will play in adidas-designed uniforms and shoes beginning in 2006-07. The deal also provides adidas gear for 14 other UC athletic teams, with football and men's and women's soccer continuing to play in Nike until their separate deals run out. Consumer apparel with the adidas logo is expected to reach stores before the beginning of the basketball season. The deal gives UC a means to market itself in an aggressive campaign planned by adidas that includes yet-to-be finalized uniforms. "We're going for something completely unique," said UC senior associate director of athletics Mike Waddell. "Something that's not currently in the adidas uniform template. And we want to capitalize on our incredibly popular C-Paw brand." The C-Paw logo brought in an average of $47,123.53 in annual royalties from Nike from 2001-05. "We expect there to be a seamless transition," said Derek Hughes, spokesperson for Collegiate Licensing Company, the nation's leading collegiate trademark and licensing company. "If adidas can continue to get products to the marketplace, it shouldn't have any affect on the fans. Especially if the selection is still there from the retailer standpoint, we anticipate minimal fan impact." The selection will be there, Waddell said. Because of the growing relationship between UC and adidas, he said the adidas logo and image would be more associated with UC athletics than the Nike logo has been. The agreement also differs from the former UC-Nike partnership in that all of UC's athletic teams will benefit; before, Nike products were limited in general to basketball, soccer and football. The adidas deal is being negotiated with the entire athletic department. Nike's agreement came through former coach Bob Huggins. New coach Mick Cronin, who had his own adidas deal at Murray State, has shoe and apparel endorsement deals built into his contract with UC. Nike won't be prevented from making Cincinnati shirts or hats as long as UC receives royalties for the products. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060613/SPT0101/606130400/1064
  7. Tampa has location in its favor, many fans would come to the area to watch their team play and have a vacation, a sort of two for one deal.
  8. Although I would have prefered if USF had interviewed more than one candidate, Prado is now a Bull and I will support the him and the team as long as they are progressing and putting a winning product on the field.
  9. The Southeastern Conference will play the Big East in a made-for-television basketball challenge series beginning in the 2007-08 season. The three-year challenge will consist of two double-headers each season, beginning in 2007-08. Each of the 12 SEC schools àfour each year àwill play one challenge game. No matchups or sites have been decided, SEC spokesman DeWayne Peevy said. No decision has been made on when each SEC team will participate, he said. Peevy noted that the Big East must also decide which 12 of its 16 teams will participate. Midweek dates for the challenge are Dec. 5-6, 2007, Dec. 10-11, 2008, and Dec. 9-10, 2009. Of the two neutral sites for the double-headers each year, one will be in the SEC area and one in the Big East area. All games will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2. http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/14818320.htm
  10. The driver of the car had better leave town and enter the witness protection program or crazed Steeler fans may take the law into their own hands. ;D
  11. Wow, and I thought USF was hurting for QBs, you know you have hit bottom when you have to rely on "stealing" recruits for Ark. State.
  12. Is catch 47 a cable sports channel? I don't know I'm a devout Direct Tv subscriber.
  13. According to a manager at the Campus Bookstore, they will not be carrying replica Nike jerseys, the manager stated they are very difficult to work with and they (Nike) will not supply them with replica jerseys, however, they will be carrying a replica jersey by some other brand.
  14. Whoa! That would be awesome if Simms decides to come to USF he would help bring in more top recruits.
  15. AR Pitino won a National Championship in 1996 with UK and then went back to the title game in 1997 and lost to Arizona in OT while their best player sat out due to an injury.
  16. From Mark Topkin's Blog-The Heater The name remains the same ... The news in Sunday's Times is that Rays have all but officially dropped plans to change the team name, uniform and colors for next season. Official word is expected this week, but it will be merely a formality. While some eager for change may consider that disappointing, it actually could be a good thing. By 2008, the Rays expect to be a better team, which means a team that draws more fans and attracts more attention, so the name change could have a much bigger impact then. (And they could sell much more merchandise with the new logo on it, more replicas of the new uniforms, etc.) Plus it means the Rays will have more to time to get it right. They are going to put a lot of hours, effort, research and money into the process. Principal owner Stuart Sternberg made it very clear, standing on the Fenway Park field before Saturday's game, that he realizes the significance of this type of action, and that it is a once-in-a-franchise opportunity. No one ever quite understood how Vince Naimoli and Co. came to settle on Devil Rays intially. Sternberg said they are talking about dramatic and ""wholesale'' change, and that being said, he and his stable of bright and creative executives obviously want to make sure they make the right choice. More importantly, they want to be sure their selection is more warmly received than Devil Rays was. Tarpons? Tropics? Sting Rays? Barracudas? Let the guessing continue for another year. http://www.sptimes.com/blogs/devilrays/
  17. Words cannot express my sadness for the Keck family, I wish them the best.
  18. I have agree with your assessment with U of L bullman 3. My hatred of U of L stems from my upbringing in Kentucky and has intensified with my loyalty to USF.
  19. courier-journal.com > Sports > U of L View 7 days > Su M Tu W Th F Sa Adv. search > Sunday, June 4, 2006 E-mail this | Print page COLLEGE BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK: U of L Pitino stumps for softer conference schedule Coach Rick Pitino skipped last week's Big East Conference basketball meetings in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to attend his daughter's graduation from Sacred Heart Model School and his son's wedding in Bermuda. But now that he's getting reports on who the Cardinals' mirror opponents might be, he said he's not too thrilled about what might have gone on in the scheduling sessions. A year ago the Cardinals faced national powers Villanova and Connecticut twice, as well as traditional rival Cincinnati. Pitino has said he's likely to "blow a gasket" if the Cards don't keep playing Cincinnati twice. And the U of L-UConn series might be set for a while because last year's Cardinals-Huskies games drew especially high television ratings. "I'm hearing things I don't like out of the schedule once again," said Pitino, who didn't elaborate on where the schedule stands now. "So I'm going to suggest we go into a new conference if the Big East hits us again." Pitino was joking about the new conference, but he said he might not be smiling if the schedule is as tough as it was last season. "This time I'll be a little more outspoken than I was last year," he said. "Remember now, we didn't have a player named first-, second- or third-team Big East except Taquan (Dean), and now he's gone. They have 11 guys make the all-rookie team. We didn't have one of those guys. So it stands to reason you'd not rate Louisville very high if you're TV, magazines or the Big East. "That's what I thought last year when we lost four starters, and were ranked seventh in the nation. So we want to get ranked low so we can overachieve this year instead of underachieve." Cards expect practice facility to boost recruiting With the construction of U of L's new Yum! Center basketball practice facility scheduled to begin in the next month or so, Pitino said he expects the program to take yet another step forward in recruiting. "It's a staple of all the big-time programs now -- Florida, Texas and others," he said. "And it's probably more needed at U of L right now than at any program in the country because we're overloaded. Freedom Hall is overloaded. Our practice facility is overloaded, and it's not fair to all the sports. "Like Minardi Hall, it'll be a tremendous recruiting tool. And we butt heads with the ACC a lot, and Florida, schools like Texas. It's funny, you take Indiana and Kentucky, we rarely go against them in recruiting. It's a strange thing. I can't quite believe it. But we seem to go more against Florida and Texas -- and very much Villanova and Connecticut and the Big East." http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060604/SPORTS02/606040526/1002/SPORTS
  20. Ease up Turkey Soup and use some common sense yourself.
  21. Cowboy up some big $$$$, and I'm sure USF would reach out to you. On line polls are fun, but, just from being on this board there is no way USF can please everyone if it allowed fans to vote on the layout of the B-bal court for example. I would prefer for USF to do things in a professional manner and not by some bush league manner in attempts to gain some fan support.
  22. Thanks Bulliever for trying to keep this thread on topic. I love the artist rendition of the completed update to USF's facilities, awesome, can't wait. Hopefully, there will be more than expected funds to carry out the expansion and add some wish list items for each sport. I also like the view of the new Sun Dome Entrance it gives it a more appeasing and inviting look than the current bland entrance.
  23. Well, at least we are not Blinky the three eye fish.
