  1. Due to a suspension (Ponton) and season ending injury (Plancher) we are playing with running backs that going into the opening day we #3,4 and 5 on the depth chart. The o-line and running backs hopefully will gel as a unit as the season progresses.
  2. "When USF beat UCF in Tampa last season, 45,139 showed, the third-largest crowd in USF history. There'll be another big crowd in Orlando on Saturday, maybe 35,000, provided no other USF players are suspended." Cheap shots like this one is why I give no credence to their articles. What does USF suspended players have to do with attendance. I agree 100% with what usfgrad84 wrote above. I give you one advantage to playing Buffalo. Exposure to the area that some of our conference teams recruit. I know we play conference teams in the northeast for exposure, but we should be able to look pretty impressive against Buffalo, to any recruits in the northeast.
  3. This is the same newspapers (Times and Trib) that reported a decade ago that the San Fransico Giants were coming to Tampa Bay. I think I would wait for something official before getting to worked up.
  4. I'm with you Twilly. I was so pissed when half way through the fourth quarter some of the fans started to leave. We have several new starters on both the O line and D line. All good football starts with t he line. Once the lines mature as a unit I think the team will get better in a hurry. As far as the playing calling, i agree that it was boring and predictable. Some of the play calling is probably a direct result of starting a redshirt Freshman. He is young and will makes some mistakes and the coaching staff doesn't want to overwhelm him early.
  5. I guess my the point I was making on Miami that seems to be lost on some, had nothing to do with attendance. It was to point out that losing by a blowout doesn't always mean that you have a long way to go as Miami lost their bowl game 40-3. Next time I will spell it out more clearly. I did re-read the article as you suggested and some of what you mentioned wasn't read, but read into by the reader. Go Bulls
  6. This atricle makes very little sense. It attempts to make you believe you have not made it if you are not drawing 90 thousand and if you get crushed like UCF did you won't be close to the big three for decades to come. First off, I agree that at this point in time neither UCF or USF are up to the level of the big three, but the gap is not decades away. 90,000 attendance will never happen in Tampa or Orlando. These are real towns with lots of non college related things battling for the entertainment dollar. For example Geogia Tech, in Atlanta, a larger city than Tampa or Orlando, and well over 100 years of football and I believe 3 national titles averaged just over 50 thousand fans the last several years. Being blown out. With the logic of being blown out of one game means you are decades away, would mean that after last years bowl season the Univerity of Miami must be back down to the level of UCF and USF. Media types sell papers and slant the truth. Don't be caught up in their hype. Go Bulls.
  7. Here is an out of conference schedule for you. See if you can figure out who belongs to this schedule. Hint: I think they sold out all there games, and unfortunatley won the national title. St. Peters Albany FSU Alabama State UCF Bethune Cookman Jacksonville Florida A&M Morgan State Savannah State I agree with Bien on this one. The Sundome should be filled because were USF fans not because of who were playing.
  8. Congrats to you both. Lynne and I are very happy for you. You will love the journey.
  9. Sometimes staying about the same is progress. Our record has been around the same during most years but the competition has increased every year. It would be like a 10 year old batting 275 in baseball against other 10 year olds. But when he turned 11 he batted 275 against 15 year olds and at 12 he batted 275 against 20 year old minor league players. Batting average stayed the same but I see much improvement.
  10. I totally agree that everyone needs to watch the language around the kids.  The way I was brought up as a man I also watch my language around the ladies.  I may be an old fuddy duddy (44) and I know some of the women these days have worse mouths than some of the guys, but thats the way I was brought up.  Around my buddies I may not use the best language, but around women and children I try to watch what I say.  I guess I figure if my Dad heard me say some words around women and children he would come back from the grave and whip my backside, deservedly so.
  11. I can't believe half of what I have read. If you want to complain, fine, but do it with possible answers, other than fire the coach. Fire the coach is the cop out that fans that know little or nothing about a sport like to say. Our OC quit around the time of the spring game. CJL at that point was left with no other option at that point but to promote from within. I agree that we need a new OC, but we had little choice this year. As far as Pat J. goes we all know he is not a great QB but what suggestions did you have for this year. Certainly not C4. He turned the ball over in his first series in more than half the games he came into. He may end up being an outstanding QB next year or in the future, but he was not the choice this year. I have to admit I was only embarrassed at one time during our bowl game and that was with about 30 seconds remaining and Bull fans in my section wanted us to kick a field goal to prevent us from being shut out. Who cares about a shut out. No matter how remote our chances were, I say go for the TD and then the onsides kick. The defense played outstanding and Andre Hall was incredible, considering NC State had 9 or more men in the box all day long including the one or two plays he broke for decent yardage. As bad as Pat J. has been at times this year it is hard to believe how many of you never mention the drops by the WR. Can't wait until next year. I will be there for all the home games along with a road game or two and without a doubt for the next bowl game. Great time was had by the Wife and I. Go Bulls!
  12. I would suggest for sure that you join the student bulls club. My son is the vice- president for this organization and I can tell you they get great deals on road trips and especially the bowl game. Join up talk to other students about Bulls athletics. Welcome to Bulls Country, glad to have you aboard. Go Bulls!
  13. I totally agree. The experience was of going to our first ever bowl game was a blast. It was great to meet so many dedicated Bulls fans. The street party and pep rally were a blast, and it got even better meeting up with everyone at Buckheads and then Dixie's. The people in Charlotte treated us great. Can't wait until next year. Go Bulls!
  14. The students should join the student Bulls Club. It is my understanding that there is a $25 annual due, and I think you get a free shirt or two. My son is going on this trip and it is $105 for the bus trip, 2 nights hotel and game ticket. I have heard that they might also include the tailgate party. Good deal and a good organization.
