  1. Being conference mates means jack. Talent wise we are head and shoulders above the golden knights, and the "rivalry" will continue to be lopsided. Haha!! That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. USF hasn't got squat this year. You're little transfer QB from Penn State had one other offer from Rice. You've no RBs and defense is suspect at best. You got few good solid last minute recruits, but they can't be evaluated yet. Our last game was five years ago and last year you were 3-9 and would have maybe been 6-6 in CUSA.
  2. Not stirring the pot CPR, just reading this thread and wondering where some of your fans are coming. Sure, you're 4-0. But that doesn't mean crap anymore. It's 0-0 as conference mates now, in my eyes. And yes, we may have a chance to beat USF this season and countless more to come. And UCF, the AAC and Gator honks like Bianchi will go above and beyond to make sure the national perception of USF tags them as arch rivals to UCF, for as long as we're in the same conference. Sounds good?
  3. Um.... Could you just keep the meltdown to your own board next time? Need a tissue? Meltdown? Look around. Whose in denial, besides Faza? Where do you all actually see USF in five years?
  4. Man, y'all can't handle the fact that you're stuck in the AAC, now. It's not a bad dream and the AAC isn't even going to have a bowl like the Liberty Bowl, anymore. After 2013, USF won't be going to any bowl bigger than the Beef O'Bradys bowl, now. Same goes for the rest of the AAC. USF fans bringing some "better than you attitude" needs a check. UCF is screwed too. It sucks. But don't act like you're on your way out. You're in denial. The Big 12 isn't expanding, now. They just announced it this week. You're stuck.
  5. I guess y'all admit you're playing catchup to UCF. Even if not and you think it's the other way around in your minds, it's not like you set the bar that high to reach. If there is one. But UCF also has many bigger fish to fry prior to our lil match to give a what-fer, like South Carolina, Penn State, Louisvile, etc. So, we'll see how we stand by then. Some of you laugh like what I'm saying isn't real, but it's very real and i truly think you all believe this situation is temporary and you're on your way out like Louisville. You're not. You're still hanging onto the idea of joining the FL "Big 3" as #4. Good dream. We have that too. Difference is, USF no longer has a leg up on UCF. Not only that, USF is pretty much being shoved to rival UCF and can't control it. Billed as rivals on TV, video games, our conference and even being out on ABC on Black Friday during rivalry weekend!
  6. I hate to break it to you, but this isn't another September home/home OOC game series. It's now a conference game and meaningful. It's also a inner-state game from two schools 1.5 hrs away from each other. If its not a rivalry now, it will be. And this new conference will sell it as one. And guess what, this isn't a temporary solution. USF is stuck with this, so deal. I think a lot of you are still in denial thinking that the Big 12 or someone will be calling any moment to save USF. They're not. I'm glad someone brought up ECU as well. You all will be playing them each year after this season from now on. You are 4-0 vs them. Now maybe they finally beat USF and can start a rivalry with USF, too. Same with Tulane and Tulsa. Welcome to our hell world now and get used to it. Nobody is coming to save any of us. Right now, UCF is a better football team and program than USF and many give UCF a good shot at even winning the AAC. If anything, for USF it'll be UCF as the team to beat, not the other way around. USF should be more aware of the fact they're rebuilding from their "Holtz new era". That's gonna take a while.
  7. I know we've had our differences, but after reading this "article" I hope you kick their butts. They tried to approach UCF to play in Tallahassee and then back in Orlando, but at the C-Bowl, as well. UCF rightfully declined and there was no way UCF was going to share that revenue with Florida Citrus Sports, Orlando and FSU, when we have hosted Texas, fellow ACC members, Miami, Boston College, NC State, SEC's Mizzou and will be hosting Spurrier's South Carolina this year, without any issues. This article just screams whiney d-bag by about not being accommodated enough for a ROAD game and throws some jabs in there, too. http://floridastate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1505545
  8. IN A HEARTBEAT!! I think any AAC school would jump on that. Considering the AAC deal barely pays $2 million per school....$7.5 may seem like chump change to the rest of the schools, but it's a ton more to schools like UCF and USF, considering. Not to mention the value of the opponents coming to town and selling tickets, as well as the National exposure and bowls. After that...schools like USF and UCF would basically have to earn their paychecks. For fans...it's all about the schedule, anyhow. Hosting Texas, Oklahoma, K-State...etc., instead of Temple, Memphis and Tulane...I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. If the Big 12 are serious about expanding, another factor for the Big 12 is BYU and Cincy. BYU has been on their radar for a long time and BYU brings in big-time TV numbers, nationally. Cincinnati will be WVU's first choice and they also have a large TV market. Maybe the Big 12 really does want to get into Florida, too...and that may outweigh their decision making process. Who knows? They might just like staying at 10. The new playoff system doesn't require a Championship game...but it may require 12 teams or something like that, not exactly sure, though.
  9. In this case...It's possible Navy is added as #4 to appease ND and even the FB and BB at 12, if they stay at 12. Not only that, ND could count their Navy game as a conference game that would open up another FB game for their choosing. If not, the ACC could also get GTown or Nova for Olympic sports to even out at 14.
  10. I would thin the big 12 would want nothing more than to take a big chunk of Florida TV markets after losing A&M to the SEC.
  11. LOL...no. UCF is not paying South Carolina or Penn State or any other BCS conference school to play in Orlando. They are 1-1 deals. That means the BCS schools don't have to pay UCF to play at their place for one game and going to Orlando isn't a bad destination for their fans. Not to mention the timing of the scheduling. UCF dropped BCC for PSU. PSU had an opening in 2013 and is looking to postpone or cancel their game vs. Virginia for 2014, in which UCF and PSU are tentatively scheduled to play in Orlando. It didn't hurt that the Nittany Lions' coach Bill O’Brien worked for O'Leary at Georgia Tech from 1995-2001. Sometimes the right connections can make the deals happen. Mizzou was another that was all timing. KSU was scheduled to return their 2010 game to Orlando in 2012 and backed out, so Mizzou had some new openings, due to their new SEC schedule and worked out a deal.
  12. Tulsa will indeed by joining in 2014, per McMurphy on Twitter.
  13. WTF does the B12 and BYU have to do with ESPN? Another moronic mouse fairy tale. And ESPN has a deal with UConn???? I guess that's why they got snapped up in the last 17 rounds of expansion, what a bunch of manatee dung. What are you talking about? I never mentioned the B12 and BYU having anything to do with ESPN. ESPN has been the leader in ACC expansion. They own all TV rights of the ACC and have been dictating all of ACC expansion. ESPN owes the state of Connecticut for some tax cuts or something like that and in return ESPN has been in talks with UConn to help their cause in the next wave of expansion. It was from an article that came out last year...I don't save links, but I'll try to see what I can find to confirm it. I was posting based on what I read. It wasn't something that was devised years ago, before any of the recent expansion. Regarding BYU, I was referring to an earlier post on here talking about the Big 12 adding FSU and BYU. I wasn't implying that I heard that this would happen, but using BYU as an example of why the Big 12 may not look at other ACC schools, if the buyout can't get figured out. This includes remaining Big East schools or whoever. The Big 12 would be looking to get to 12 by 2014 and time is running out.
  14. I think UConn is next in line for the ACC if just FSU leaves for thr Big 12, regardless of the FL exposure lost. ESPN pretty much runs the ACC's expansion. They have a deal with UConn and owe them. The ACC's buyout is a big factor as to why the Big 12 would take BYU.
  15. Haha...I forgot I updated my avatar. I don't frequent here as much as before, but use the mobile version and can't see the avatar. I wasn't sure how many new folks have joined would know who I was. Of course I knew the old school regulars would.
  16. There's no telling what the game time will be. Hoping for night. We'll just have to see what happens in November. I thought it'd be a good idea to promote Black Friday deals at the apparel shops on campus with proof of tickets.
  17. We sold out the last time USF played at BHNS, but that was 2008 and I'm October. We'll see how this goes. 12k of the seats are all student seats. They don't sell those seats to anyone. So the students will have to fill their own section. I'm hoping for a cross promotion combining the Akron game(Thursday night opener that UCF self scheduled with no TV that fans are upset about).
  18. Big 12 schedules would sellout many games at Ray Jay and BHNS.
  19. I know it's a road game for you, but what are you're thoughts on this game possibly being on Black Friday each year? How will it affect attendance at Ray Jay? My concerns are that both of our fan bases like this matchup, but aren't quite there enough to cut vacation or get students back from home so quickly for this game. The BE has said they see this as a marquee rivalry in the conference and possibly being discussed as a package for future realignment. It'll be on a national stage, possibly ABC this year, as one of only 3 or 4 matchups that day. If there's a lame turnout, it could waive off a lot of interest for this rivalry. Being at UCF this year, I really fear this. Since UCF has been the bigger proponent of this rivalry since the beginning, if we cant sellout this game, it could spell disaster. Thanksgiving weekend is a ghost town at UCF. If it was in October, it'd sellout for sure...but TG weekend will be a MAJOR test for our fan base. Some USF fans may hope it falls flat at UCF to prove a point of some sort regarding the hype of this rivalry, others I've seen are already planning their trip to Orlando. What are your thoughts? (I'm a UCF fan for some of you newbies)
  20. My fear is that if both schools are struggling/rebuilding...then a late year game may not be as appealing to fans. Personally, I do think UCF should prefer an early season matchup, if USF is putting together a new system. But being a conference game, it won't be until October at the earliest and by what I'm hearing, late in the years seems like what the Big East would prefer, as well.
  21. Brandon Helwig of UCF Sports was on local Orlando Sports Radio show to talk about the scheduling with Penn State and also reported that the USF/UCF game is looking to be scheduled as the last game of the season for both teams, next year. Some think it could be TG weekend, but others think it might even be Dec. 7th, instead. I'm not a big fan of Thanksgiving weekend for this game. I think it should be in early October, when our students and fans are in the heart and soul of football season. Thanksgiving weekend is normally the worst weekend for attendance for both schools and this game can't afford to show poor attendance, for the future. I know TG weekend is "rivalry" weekend, but I don't think either of our schools are an automatic sellout on Thanksgiving for any matchup, outside a state Big 3 or a major Top 20 type BCS School. I would hope that it would be, but that's a tough weekend and next year, ESPN will have their hands on it, so since they hate the BE, it'll probably be on Black Friday @ 11am. What are your thoughts? Here's the link to the broadcast http://www.sportstalkflorida.com/tuck-and-oneill-ucf-to-play-penn-state-in-2013-and-2014/
  22. The Mizzou game last year was very disappointing and was very winnable. Ohio State was 12-0 last year, so that loss wasn't too bad. UCF getting these schedules was mostly due to good timing. Penn State lost an OOC game vs. Virginia next year, because Virginia had to make room for another school. We were set to have a home game with KSU, last year, but they bailed on that game the last minute and we were lucky that Mizzou had open dates, due to their new SEC schedule. We had also lost a home and home scheduled with UConn for 2013 and 2015, because of the new Big East schedule starting in 2013, so everything just fell into place, regarding South Carolina. UCF did seek PSU after hearing about the Virginia game falling through to replace BCC. UCF wanted to strengthen their schedule going forward, as well. The PSU deal eliminates BCC in 2013 and Jacksonville State in 2014, so we won't have any more 1-AA games on our schedule going forward, if possible. However, after all of this expansion is done...who knows what our future schedules will even look like. For PSU...you also have to factor in that they don't get to go to any bowl games for a while. So scheduling games in destination/vacation type cities would be pretty attractive for them and their fans, although it's not so much for the team, itself. Plus, they just had to pay $50 million if fees due to the NCAA hammer on them, so this doing more 1-1 deals, would make sense...and why not get one in Florida, where a lot of their alumni live, anyhow. For now, this is UCF's OOC Scheduling Breakdown the next few years: 2013 AKRON @ FIU @ Penn State (not official) SOUTH CAROLINA 2014 FIU PENN STATE @ Missouri BYU 2015 @ South Carolina 2016 @ Maryland 2017 @ Texas Maryland
  23. College football is/was about tradition, largely. The Big East is not a very old conference, was never all that respected (in football), and has just been destroyed in the media over the last few years. I can't imagine why the ACC would give up its brand. Sure, it was never hugely respected as a football conference, either, but was always thought of as better than the BE. It would defy common sense for the ACC to disband and the BE (or whatever it'll be called after the selling off of the name to the C7) absorb it. To me, it's gotta go the other way. The Big East schools would have the upper hand, here and would probably make a deal, either way. The ACC brand is better, so maybe they merge. Plus, ND would also be a factor, here. Maybe even some of the top C7 could join, as well.
  24. in other words, NACC would pretty much be the old BE, with some retreads (BC, Cuse, Pitt), an ACC stragler (Wake) and a couple of former CUSA squads (UCF, HOU, SMU) thrown in. every team on that list would have been either a member or a prospective member of the BE except Wake. Not to be a ****, I genuinely don't understand. But, I keep seeing this posted on the boards. If the ACC loses just about everybody and we get an invite (and I prefer this to a merger, because I think the Big East name is poison at this point and the ACC name is worth more), why in the world would we still attach ourselves to UCF? I could see this if we were marketing ourselves to the Big12, because maybe to some we don't carry enough upside by ourselves. But, if we're going to the ACC, why bring UCF along? Let them stew in whatever is left of the Big East. Why force parity? . UCF wouldn't be tagging along with the permission of USF, if these scenarios happen to play out like mentioned. I think it'd already be a given. We both would either be in a big east that invites the remaining ACC schools, or the ACC remnants invite at least 8 BE schools and go to 12. Then they could possibly ask to add one or 3 of the C7 non-football (GTown, St. John's and Nova). Of course all of this is based on the speculative rumors, mentioned above. That's fair enough, but I still don't see why the ACC would need two Florida schools, especially two that apparently are considered mid-majors and not all that great. FSU and Miami, I can understand this. Both have large and very different followings. Lots of fans in both cases. Huge history and resumes in both cases. With USF and UCF, we have two cities: Tampa and Orlando. And that's it. I don't see why an ACC that's reloading would use up two conference slots to wrap up two cities in central Florida, an hour apart. It seems to me that the better money would be grabbing an unrelated school in a state where the conference doesn't already have a presence. Now between the two, I've got to think that USF gets the nod due to media market size and the fact that we've been BCS. The Tampa TV market is ranked 13 and Orlando is #19 nationally. Combined its the #4 TV market in the USA. But that would be irrelevant. If the ACC only has 4 teams left, that being lets say, Pitt, Cuse, Wake and BC...what sort of "stature" do you presume the ACC really has anymore? Who do you think they would prefer? Tulane? ECU? UCF and USF would be part if the first four chosen with UConn and Cincy.
  25. in other words, NACC would pretty much be the old BE, with some retreads (BC, Cuse, Pitt), an ACC stragler (Wake) and a couple of former CUSA squads (UCF, HOU, SMU) thrown in. every team on that list would have been either a member or a prospective member of the BE except Wake.
