  1. how in the world can you possibly think that this FAU deal is worth a dime. They are totally giving up the farm for 30 YEARS!!!! No revenues at all. When the stadium would finally revert back to the university it would be considered obsolete.
  2. WWW, I would suggest the clubhouse. Easy drive right down I75. Great atmosphere there. All Bulls, all the time. I'm guessing it'll be pretty packed for this one.
  3. I'm guessing we'll just tip the 40K mark, but it'll be a LOUD 40K!
  4. agreed. all about the $$$. then why even assign placement with the games. just say it is a BE affiliated game.
  5. Not complaining at all. Just trying to understand the logistics behind it all. I could care less if they sent us to the Pointsettia Bowl. Just like to know why it is happening.
  6. So, what you're saying is that even though we may finish 2nd in the conference, we'd still be the last bowl selection for the BE by going to the Muffler bowl? How does that happen? If we finish 1. WVU 2. USF 3. UL 4. RU How does that equate to us in the 4th place bowl? What are the politics behind it? Couldn't we be potentially as big a draw to the Gator bowl as UL? I mean it is only a 3-4 hour drive. Per the ESPN.com website the Big East has 1. BCS 2/3 Gator 2/3 Insight 4. Meineke
  7. Biggest thing that sticks out to me is the fact that of UConn's 4 wins, three have come against 1 win teams (Buffalo, Syracuse, & I-AA Liberty).  Their other win is against Army.  Weather may be a slight factor, and can be an equalizer, but based on the caliber of their opponents, we should be able to pull this one out.
  8. Absolutely amazing. Back when I was in school 91-95 the seats next to the band were probably some of the most coveted in the Dome. You'd have to get there **** early to be able to sit under the baskets. They even had ushers looking at tickets for those sections. What a sad state of affairs our hoops has drifted into.
  9. http://bulls.tbo.com/bulls/MGBBQ3YPBGE.html USF Working On New Deal For Leavitt By BRETT McMURPHY bmcmurphy@tampatrib.com Published: Nov 22, 2005 TAMPA -- With University of South Florida coach Jim Leavitt emerging as the top candidate to replace Bill Snyder at Kansas State, USF athletic director Doug Woolard is doing his best to keep Leavitt at USF "for a long time." Woolard is working on a new deal for Leavitt but wouldn't disclose the financial package or length of the contract. "Jim's done an outstanding job," Woolard said. "We're trying to work on a scenario to have Jim here for a long time if he wants to be. He's started a legacy here, starting a program and taking it as far as he has. "We want to put something together that is very advantageous for him." Leavitt's current contract runs through 2009. His salary this season of $542,000 ranks as the fourth-lowest among the 66 BCS coaches, according to an athletic directors survey obtained by The Tampa Tribune. By comparison, Snyder made $1.5 million this past season. Woolard had no timetable when he wanted to present Leavitt with the contract extension. USF visits Connecticut on Saturday and hosts No. 12 West Virginia on Dec. 3. "I know how focused Jim is [on the upcoming games]," Woolard said. "I would rather get together sooner than later. I think it's in everyone's best interests." Woolard said he had not been contacted by Kansas State officials for permission to speak with Leavitt. K-State athletic director Tim Weiser said Monday he has not contacted any candidates and would not comment whether Leavitt, or anyone else, was a candidate. "We want to have someone as soon as possible, but our interest is in finding the right person," Weiser said. "If so, that could take a while. This is not about salvaging a recruiting class [by making a quick decision], it's about planting a tree that will be here a long time." Weiser said the hiring is his responsibility, but he would take input from Snyder and Kansas State president Jon Wefald and others before making a decision. Citing "multiple sources," CBSSportsline.com's Dennis Dodd, who is based out of Kansas City, Mo., reported Leavitt has emerged "as the favorite" to replace Snyder. Leavitt would not comment Monday on his interest in the Kansas State position but talked fondly about Snyder, his former boss whom Leavitt worked for from 1990 to 1995 before coming to USF. "Bill had a lot of influence, he and I are very close," Leavitt said. "Bill is a great man. I was fortunate to be able to coach on his staff. We pattern our programs pretty similar. Nobody can ever replace that guy. He's the real deal." The Manhattan (Kan.) Mercury reported Kansas State offensive coordinator Del Miller and offensive line coach Dana Dimel will apply for the job. Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables and TCU coach Gary Patterson reportedly also are potential candidates. "This is the nature of the business [for others to pursue Leavitt] and it's a credit to the program," Woolard said. "When people are successful, others will be interested. No one can question the amount of success he's had here." Maybe now some of the KSU "insiders" will stay off of the boards.  Back to the foothills of Manhattan. Glad to see that Woolard is willing to start to get things more in line for our coaching staff.
  10. are you sure you're awake right now and not dreaming?  it is past midnight....
  11. hey man. nothing personal against you. we both want the best for the Bulls. we just have WAY different opinions on how to get there. :-* :-*
  12. I understand your point, but it is completely unrealistic. Especially for the amount of money you're mentioning. Spurrier would command top, top dollar. Something we just won't have for quite a few years.
  13. cee, please feel free to follow your own advice above.  thank you, the rest of us on the board
  14. I just don't get you. I understand that we want this program to excel and continue to grow. Why do you continue to insist that we dismantle what has proven to be a great process? Are you envious of these other programs? Why did you chose to come to USF when all you seem to want to do is knock it?
  15. You still don't read very well.  I never said that Spurrier hasn't done an incredible job at USC.  I was referring to your comment that had CJL left last year ther we could have gotten our hands on Spurrier.  That, my friend, is ridiculous.  We'd have just been a pawn in the game.  He never would have given USF any serious consideration. And if you don't know that, then well.........let's just say that most of us could figure that one out.
  16. best place to watch a bulls game is wherever cee isn't. that is unless you'd like to hear about an OCS and how we'd have been or will be much better off when CJL leaves and we can lure Butch Davis.
  17. Wish he would have left last year?  So we could have what, a complete disaster this year instead of being on the cusp of a bowl game, potentially a BCS bowl game? Davis for under $1M? Spurrier to USF? cee, my friend, you are an idiot.  A bona fide idiot.  Do you ever have a clue about which you speak? I truly don't understand your disjointed and absurd musings. Go piss and moan somewhere else.  You moronic rants have grown tired here.
  18. Both Ivan Maisel and Pat Forde have us in the Muffler bowl. Maisel has us against Clemson, and Forde has us against Virginina. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2194032
  19. Barnacles was a watch party location a few years ago, but I think there may have been a few issues with the games being switched off for "bigger" games. The Bulls Club has taken the recent stance that if you can't keep the USF games on for the ENTIRE game, then you will no longer host watch parties. I think we've finally found enough "homes" throughout the bay area that we're in good shape. (Clubhouse, Selmon's, Capogna's, etc)
  20. We may still go bowling, but it may be at the Insight in AZ. Beneficial for Brad and Terry, but not many others.
  21. I've been in Manhattan, KS before.  My grandmother lived out in the great metropolis of Blue Rapids, KS, smack dab in the middle of the prairie land about an hour north of K-State.  I can assure you that there is absolutely nothing out there.  Easiest way in is via Kansas City with either an additional 45 minute small plane ride, or a 2 hour car ride.  If you think that G'ville is a nothing town without the university, you ain't seen nothing.  Don't get me wrong, small town America is beautiful and the heartland of this country is amazing, but there is literally nothing in Manhattan except the university and a mall.  You'd have to go on some far flung recruiting trips out there to find the talent.
  22. Agreed. We need as much of a home field advantage as we can get with as big a game as this may be.
  23. Guaranteed that the Clubhouse will be a USF ONLY sports bar. Always have a great time there.`
