  1. bulldad, You can count on me to be the voice of optimisim, even if it is blind optimism. I've seen too much good in the program to get down after this loss, even it was a bit embarassing. If we can't handle a bad game, how will we handle the 2-9 or 2-10 seasons when they come? The board is a great tool for everyone to let off steam...the tone will mellow by Thursday and with a good game at TCU, all will be forgotten - save for a few posters who will now call for Hobbie or Leavitt's head until the end of time. Love these Bulls and supporting them through good times and bad.
  2. Since many are in doomsday mode, what are the two worst consecutive losses in Bulls history? We last lost two in a row in 2002 (Arkansas and Oklahoma).  Before that - it was 1998 (Western Kentucky and Hofstra).  We lost three in a row and then two in a row in 1997.  Just getting you all ready. I'd say we have been pretty good in our short history at making adjustments and getting better.  We've lost consecutive games just four times in 8 seasons.  We've lost two consecutive games twice in the last 7 seasons.  Have some faith. We'll get over this, get better and move on to the next game. Yes, I have my cheerleader outfit on.   ::Love Fest::  Go Bulls!
  3. More numbers: 42-3: The bull-whippin' Arkansas put on us in 2002 9-2: The Bulls final record that year 23: The Bulls rank in the BCS poll at season's end.
  4. Self-imposed moratorium is over...and shellshock has subsided. My comments (fair game for ridicule): 1)  We were obviously unprepared, and certainly remain in need of a better game plan. 2)  Anyone that thought Ronnie or PJ were top-shelf QBs were misleading themselves - they were not misled by Jim Leavitt or his coaching staff.  All this talk about putting Gachette in, come on "get real" (where is lob99 when you need him?). 3)  I still remember coming under criticism after last year's Memphis game when I mourned the loss of one of the best defensive backfields we'd ever seen at USF.  Most seemed to believe we had better in the hopper.  Well, they're young, and they may get better, but right now I am mourning again.  "Toast" sums up the defensive backfield. 4)  Penalties.  I think an awful lot shifted on that first roughing call...We could have taken a shot at their confidence, but instead gave them a free pass and a score.  Got to rein that in. 5)  SDSU, September 4th, 1999 - the birth of Marquel Blackwell.  Folks, he's gone.  Perhaps the South Carolina game becomes the catalyst for our next leader.  Maybe a healthy PJ, maybe not.  Maybe someone yet to toss a ball, but it certainly sounds the wake up call for someone to hear. 6)  Turning point this Saturday.  Too much talk about the season being over.  USC was just an out of conference game.  Things count even more now.  TCU got a shellacking last week.  We have that in common with them.  Our Bulls tend to get better each and every week throughout a season.  Let's see what we do next week.  7)  Shee-it happens, you fans need to sack it up and get back on your game. A lot of season left.
  5. ht...you're going to make us implement a signature policy....not for your political beliefs, but for the eyesore...can you clean that up somehow...? organize it...something?

  8. My pleasure yo... If you buy something through that link - the Bulliever's USF Bulls Team Shop - I think the site earns a 10-15% cut on the sale. I have had that store for about a year, but only recently did they start adding some good stuff with the new logo. I've not had a single sale yet, then again, it's not been published anywhere.
  9. Yeah and I think TCU was up 21-0 when I let the kids watch something else...
  10. Thanks for the offer E.T., but that takes care of the year...
  11. BTW,  the upgrade has gone through: and board member USFMikeB stepped up with a donation to cover it for all of us. Thanks Mike!
  12. Too early in time for me... I remember reading about the Bulls traveling home show when I was in high school, but fortunately the Sun Dome was opened when I got to USF and I never had to go to any of the other venues. As I recall, they played home games in four different facilities.
  13. Wow... New stuff recently added, maybe I'll start promoting this little shop...
  14. Available at Bulliever's USF Bulls Team Shop at Football Fanatics (click here)
  15. Just make sure you bring 499 friends with you!!
  16. Speaking of... I wonder if USC accepts advertising for products such as Viagra and Cialis. Wouldn't that be a marketer's dream come true.
  17. Just popped $20 to the chat host...now we have room for 500. Hope to see all you crazy Bulls there to celebrate a Bulls win with other Bulls fans!
  18. Three keys Control the line USC’s offensive line dominated Vanderbilt but struggled against Georgia’s slants and stunts up front — the same type of look it will see today. With starting quarterback Dondrial Pinkins (shoulder) and tailback Demetris Summers (ankle) sidelined, the line needs to wear down the Bulls’ smallish defensive front to take some of the pressure off quarterback Syvelle Newton. Take reins off Newton Given Lou Holtz’s conservative nature, the tendency will be for him to put Newton in positions where he will not hurt the team with turnovers or poor decisions. But to handcuff Newton is to limit his effectiveness. When Newton improvises, Holtz will have to trust that the big-play potential is worth the risk of a turnover. Improve the special teams The Gamecocks hurt their field position against Georgia by failing to catch punts. The place-kicking woes haunted USC, too: Had Charlie Carpenter made his 44-yard field-goal attempt, the Gamecocks could have tried a field goal rather than go for it on fourth-and-one late in the game in Georgia territory.
  19. More from "The State" Advantages QB: Syvelle Newton gets his much-anticipated first start in place of the injured Dondrial Pinkins. Pat Julmiste is 3-0 as a starter, and the Bulls are 6-1 in games in which he has played QB. Edge: USF RB: USC backs are averaging 4.6 yards a carry, but will be without tailback Demetris Summers, out with a high-ankle sprain. Clenton Crossley is the only key back with experience for the Bulls. Edge: USC WR: Troy Williamson has eight of the 10 catches by USC wide receivers and has made them count (28.8-yard average). Three receivers had at least two catches apiece in USF’s spread offense in opening win against Tennessee Tech. Edge: USC OL: Gamecocks struggled against Georgia’s stunts and slants, a scheme similar to what USF uses. The Bulls return all five starters for the second year in a row. Edge: USC Pass defense: Interception returns by Jamacia Jackson and Ko Simpson mark USC’s first back-to-back games with defensive TDs in 18 years. USF was 13th nationally in passing defense in ’03, but had to replace safety J.R. Reed, a fourth-round pick of the Eagles. Edge: USC Run defense: USC gave up 4.2 yards a carry last week against Georgia. Bulls are first nationally vs. the run after allowing 16 yards on 33 carries against Tennessee Tech. Edge: USF Special teams: Gamecocks are 1-for-4 on field goals this season, with no answer in sight. Santiago Gramatica has strong bloodlines and a stronger leg: Brother of NFL kickers Martin and Bill attempted a 58-yard FG last week. Edge: USF. Bias:  The state is known to be a homer rag... Edge: USC and The State
  20. Posted on Sat, Sep. 18, 2004 How they'll try to stop linebacker Stephen Nicholas About Nicholas: Nicholas, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound sophomore, was a Sporting News freshman All-American in 2003, when he finished with 46 tackles, including 11 for loss. Nicholas is on the watch list for the Butkus Award, given annually to the nation’s top linebacker. How he’s featured: Nicholas is the Bulls’ strongside linebacker and lines up on the wide side of the field. Nicholas will blitz, as evidenced by his 5.5 sacks in ’04. But Nicholas also is athletic enough to help in coverage; he deflected four passes last week vs. Tennessee Tech. USC’s strategy: The Gamecocks need to get back to an aggressive offensive approach following a weak effort vs. Georgia, when they failed to control the line of scrimmage. Blockers must get to Nicholas quickly and maintain their blocks. Men on the spot: Because of the way the Bulls use Nicholas, everyone from guards and tackles to backs will be responsible for blocking him at some point. It will take a group effort to limit Nicholas’ effectiveness. Wow that was insightful...hope JL read that.
  21. I am not part of the "all" then. This stuff is not limited to athletes, especially USF football athletes Only a fool would think this is a product of Jim Leavitt's recruiting skills. Or, we (of all people) should question them. This happens...so too do losses. I'm with Jim.
