  1. Perhaps there are plans (and maybe the philanthropical Mr. Morsani agrees) to sell the naming rights to the stadium and raise additional funds. Afterall, when the National Champion Bulls play there, someone will pay big dollars to have their name slapped on everything. Likewise, I don't see "the Red" staying around either..just my opinion.
  2. You're right... I didn't bother to post it, but the other top recruit - Beasley - that Huggy is trying to steal from Charlotte recently stated that although he did de-commit, he is 80% sure he is going to Charlotte. I hope he does. Bobby Lutz deserves it and the kid can learn some good things there.
  3. Further research indicates Solomon has a workout with the Memphis Grizzlies on June 2nd, just a few days before he returns to Florida for the NBA Pre-Draft camp in Orlando (June 6-10).
  4. Link at SI At least KSU, unlike Cincinnati, is trying to keep an eye on Huggy and his Thuggies....at least has to be cleared legally before the alleged ****** can play ball for Huggins.
  5. Sorry, that title was for Ari and his fellow detractors...I wanted to get them all frothy at the mouth...  ;D CARDIERI'S FATE UNKNOWN: USF baseball coach Eddie Cardieri met with Woolard and senior associate AD Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy on Tuesday, but no decision was reached on Cardieri's future at USF. Woolard and Cardieri said they would meet again today. Cardieri, whose contract expires today, has been USF's coach the past 21 years. "We had preliminary discussions, a productive meeting," Cardieri said. Meanwhile, Reggie Jefferson resigned after one season as the Bulls' hitting coach. Jefferson said his decision was not related to Cardieri's situation. "This was just a career move," said Jefferson, who played nine seasons in the major leagues. "No one thought I'd be a No. 3 assistant in college baseball for a long time. USF was a good fit, but I wanted to get back in the pro game. I wouldn't feel right continuing to recruit for USF while looking for another job." Jefferson, 37, came to USF after spending last season as hitting coach for the Florida Marlins' Triple-A club in Albuquerque, N.M. Link

  8. Has anyone ever seen a Women's Dinghy before? :-[
  9. USF Sailors Finish In Ninth Place At National Championships  Courtesy: USF Release: 05/27/2006  Courtesy: Greg Owen MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (May 27, 2006) -- The University of South Florida women's sailing team finished ninth at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Women's Dinghy Championship this week, hosted by the College of Charleston at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The Bulls entered the event ranked 12th in the nation in the latest poll.  Top-ranked College of Charleston claimed the national championship and fellow BIG EAST program Georgetown earned second. The senior tandem of Jee Lee and Kristen Herman claimed the 11th position in the "A" Division, concluding the event's 18 races with a total of 168.  Fellow classmates Abby Ethington and Ashley Wierzbicki claimed seventh in the "B" division with a total of 145.  Each of the two teams earned 11 top-10 finishes in the 18 races.
  10. COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: The University of South Florida attended its first Women's Nationals, held last week in Charleston, S.C. Racing was held on College of Charleston 420 sloops. The current on the Cooper River is strong, recorded at more than 2 knots at ebb. In lighter air it was difficult to judge when to go for a turning mark and at what angle to sail on reaches and runs. One race Friday saw the USF team near the back of the 18-boat pack at the last mark with only a downwind leg to the finish to go. But the current held everyone back. The Bulls sailed off to the side of the bunched fleet and well past the finish line, gibing over to pass half the fleet. USF finished ninth in only its eighth year as a team. The team included Kristen Herman, Jee Lee, Abby Ethington, Ashley Wierzbicki and coach Allison Jolly. Evan Brown of Tampa sailed for Stanford, helping it to fourth. Brown was named honorable mention women's All-American after the event. Her usual skipper, Carolyn Brown of Tampa, broke her clavicle last month and could not compete. Stanford's coach is Jay Kehoe, the former sailing coach at St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Story Link I don't know what half that means, but ninth in the nationals is good...I guess... ???

  12. I looked at it a little differently...wondering how many pitchers you can really use...UCLA rode the back of one pitcher for the two game series and may well have used her in game 3 if necessary...but it is nice to have the high level of competition on the team. I don't know much about the rules of softball, but with the players alowwed to re-enter the game, I have to wonder how you work in 4 top flite pitchers. But what do I know about softball? Nothing. I think we hit about as well as UCLA - just not as timely...we could not hit worth a darn with RISP.
  13. The Sheriff does do a fantastic job of writing...I still lament the loss of the chronicles that went down with the board years ago. The Sheriff has brought some good laughs and insight to board members for years. I also felt proud of my longtime affiliation with The Sheriff when he reported on his interaction with Mr. Woolard. It would have been easy for him to show a glimpse of the Dark Side or to not tell us the whole story. I think the interaction with Mr. Woolard was good for The Sheriff and it is that kind of interaction that USF has really improved on over the last decade. Nice work Sheriff.
  14. Doesn't matter smazza...take the job and you can get us jerseys, helmets and other authentic gear...
  15. Problem is...none of this can happen until the season is played...therefore prospects of shutting you up look bleak in the near term. I'd like us to wait until next season gets underway before we call it a failure or success.
  16. This was a general media release so if Greg or Brett sense there is enough interest in the announcment, they'll likely be there. Likewise, sometime around the time of the announcement there will likely be an official release from USF that I can post here.
  17. Facing a May 31 deadline, the Devil Rays have decided against a nickname change for the 2007 season. The club had been considering dropping the Devil and just going with the Rays. "There will be a change for the 2008 season," CEO Matthew Silverman said. "It could be subtle. It could just be a change to the logo or to the uniforms themselves, but we're going to leave open the possibility for more dramatic changes now that we have the time to investigate it fully." May. 30 - 5:31 p.m. ET Good, but really, who cares?
  18. I get your point, it just does not apply to my comment. But moving on is good. That about sums you up.
  19. : I think you missed the point...
  20. What continues to get lost on the detractors is not whether they are wrong or right...it is how some of them choose to go about making their points. Unnecesary repetition, insults, name-calling, accusations of the AD, etc. Now look at Bien, he states his opinion and he is not insulting or belittling the subject of his comments. The biggest issue with the detractors (to me) is they have become very emotional and almost an irritation about the whole thing. On the other hand, I enjoy reading Bien's opinion and his recent undertaking with usfgrad84. To see other posters call a USF head coach a bum or a clown is a little over the top for me. Inserting racial tones and inferring unsubstantiated wrongdoing by former ADs is too much. Those kind of jackals I'll never concede anything to. Most of the non-detractor camp looks at this from a larger perspective. USF Basketball is not an easy job as it stands. Knowing the situations RMC has had to deal with (some of it his own doing), the non-detractor group sees enough good to not throw the baby out with the bath water. It's closer to a wait and see in my opinion than a statement that RMc is the man. Whining and moaning will not change anything...there is at least one more season to determine the future course.
  21. If the theory "Ask and they will donate" worked, I'd be giving to multiple other entities at USF including the college of Business from which I graduated. Living proof that does not work.
