  1. Looks like he just worked out for the Raptors too: Jay Williams works out for Raptors TORONTO (CP) - Three years after a motorcycle crash that forced Jay Williams to learn how to walk again, he believes he's finally ready to step back on the NBA court. He says he wouldn't mind if it was as a Toronto Raptor. Williams, the former No. 2 NBA draft pick out of Duke, is in Toronto working out for the Raptors, and likes what he sees in the young team and new GM Bryan Colangelo. .... The Raptors also worked out Toronto native and University of Connecticut shooting guard Denham Brown on Thursday, along with Kentucky guard Rajon Rondo, Pittsburgh guard Carl Krauser, and Montreal's Mohamed Hachad, a guard out of Northwestern. Scheduled to work out Friday are Richmond forward and Edmonton native Jermaine Bucknor, Duke guard Sean Dockery, South Florida forward Solomon Jones, and Syracuse guard Gerry McNamara. Story Link
  2. Thought this was the Hinkelberger autobiography... Thanks for your $500....only 127 other morons and your whole group can fund Eddie's base pay - and then ***** about yourselves. Congratulations. You are pathetic Ari..
  3. turkeysoup is like a shock jock...he couldn't care less about USF...just likes poking at 'em.  He's a lot like cee (if not cee under a new name).  Presents himself as though he has some connection to USF when in fact no one that really supports the school would say the things he does.  He really is to be ignored. But seriously on the OCS, I commend UCF for starting something.  We will too...right now their football need is their overwhelming need...that is not the case at USF.  So would I settle for a basement bargain erector stadium now or wait for a better funded, nicer stadium when the need fully arrives?  I'll take the latter and find comfort in other well overdue facilities upgrades around campus.
  4. What say you about that won-loss % up there? I would have expected a bit more out of a Tampa product rolling in all that UL dough...I guess perhaps he resurrected that program? Why would he be talking so openly about the USF job? Looking for a new deal at UL? Seemed sort of strange to me.
  5. Rupp was the gent I mentioned here a few weeks ago...would have been a nice fit about 5 years ago...out of UT...but we were stuck in neutral.
  6. Well then that makes sense...a marketing deal.. I think those Leon commercials are great...
  7. Hey the Golden Baseball League is out here and former USF pitcher John Uhl played in it...saw a couple games myself and said "Hi" to John. Could it happen? Yes...I suppose... the Golden Baseball league is not affiliated. It is an independent league last time I looked. Doubtful, but possible I suppose. Must have been Budweiser "born on" a date long ago...60 cases is a lot to trade for anyone...
  8. I don't know what the perceptions are...but my experience is that FSU fans are more than tolerable - they can actually be respectful towards others and can be fun to be around. Gator fans I know, on the other hand, are stupid arrogant and are annoying right out of the chute (most of which never graduated from the school, much less stepped foot on campus), but "they been gator fans fer-ever."
  9. ? You just have nothing good to say ever, eh? I think Coaches Leavitt (aka Million Dollar Man) and Fernandez feel well compensated. Maybe...just maybe...it's a pay for performance system at USF now? Or maybe the budget as well as the athletic program is changing. Your negativity is overwhelming. I have no doubt we will put the right amount of dollars into correcting the travesty that has been USF baseball.
  10. Is this really what you want?
  11. There's always Ron Cardieri, who served as an assistant under Eddie in the late 80s/early90s. ;D
  12. Believe me, this will hardly be a search. USF's fax machines will run out of paper with candidates. The difficult job will be weeding out the less desirable and getting to a short list of applicants. This job has been a very desirable job for years...There will be no shortage of qualified candidates.
  13. We don't need no stinkin' Clyde Drexlers.... And I like Clyde...
  14. 10:1 he stays involved in fundraising...how ironic.
  15. Of all the outlandish things that have ever emanated from the blowhole beneath your nose, there has never been an utterance more correct than this one.
  16. The real reality: Doug Woolard: “... this can be one of the best baseball jobs in the country.”
  17. Here we go again...(not just you Ari)...but the belief if one of us does not know the vision, there must not be one...ugh!
  18. Courtesy USF SID Office USF Baseball Coach Eddie Cardieri Resigns Position After 24 Years At The School TAMPA, FLA. (May 31, 2006) – Eddie Cardieri, who has been with the USF Baseball program for 24 years, including the last 21 as head coach, resigned his position effective today. Cardieri compiled a 731-546 record in his 21 seasons as head coach at USF, and with two seasons at Saint Leo University, his career record is 794-579. He coached the Bulls to nine NCAA Tournaments and five regular season conference championships. He twice earned Coach of the Year in the Sun Belt and Metro Conferences and once in Conference USA. He was also named the Conference USA Student-Athletes Advisory Committee (SAAC) Coaches Choice Award winner in 2003. “Over the past two days I have had very healthy discussions with Doug Woolard and Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy regarding the baseball program,” said Cardieri. “We discussed a variety of opportunities and options involving the program and we eventually came to a mutual decision that I would resign as head coach. “As I step back in the coming weeks and assess where I would like to take my career, I do so with great pride in the hundreds of players I have been blessed to coach over the past 24 years at USF. Not only did a lot of great baseball players pass through the program, but a lot of young men also developed into outstanding citizens in our community and across the country. I hope the University and our community appreciate all these student-athletes for their many accomplishments at USF and elsewhere.” Woolard said, “I respect and appreciate the many contributions Eddie Cardieri has made to USF Baseball and the University. Due to his development of the program, this can be one of the best baseball jobs in the country.” Woolard indicated USF will conduct a national search for a new head coach with “the intent to hire the person who can provide the best partnership for our student-athletes academically and athletically.” Cardieri first arrived as an assistant on Robin Roberts USF staff in 1983. He was named head coach in 1986, when he led the team to a 52-16 record and his first NCAA appearance. He was head coach at Saint Leo in 1981 and 1982, when he compiled a 63-33 record.
  19. The Chuckster is no longer under contract so it will be interesting to see where he winds up...
  20. Made it clearer...I'd hate to see the fun wasted on some Lightning fans.
