If someone walked up and started punching me I wouldn't pretend to like it. The Aac is an abomination. We should have left as soon as they invited the 6 clown schools (OK 5, rice is a respectable school) in the last round of expansion.

I've made it clear that if it were up to me I'd go independent before playing another aac game. Great for the conference doesn't mean great for us. Ucf, cincy and Houston winning the AAC was great for the conference, how'd that help us?

If we can't handle independence we should be begging to join whatever comes of the mwc/pac merger.

The AAC being a respected conference would mean a better chance for us making it to the Playoffs or NCAAT

That is an insane take. CFLA is easily the worst school in that conference now. If they knew pac schools would come available they never would have taken cf.

Cincy has past history of being in the big east and is in their footprint, and a far better school. Houston used to be in the conference that turned into the b12 and is a basketball power these days. Cf is fau that went on a hot streak for a few years leading up to expansion.

Unrelated love seeing fau and uab go down in the first round. I hate everything about the AAC

Being in the AAC is what it is, and we might as well embrace it. USF doing well  in the NIT, and FAU and UAB advancing would be great for the conference and therefore good as well for USF.

I actually agree with you. If conferences had stopped at 16 teams, then I think the B12 may regret one or two, but is 20-24 is the goal, they pick good ones.

I think Houston and UCF would not have been picked up if the Big 12 would have been aware of the complete Pac implosion.

However, UCF being in the Big 12  might end up being  a benefit to us since a USF-UCF rivalry would be great for everyone involved.

We have seen that a UCF-USF rivalry excites both fan bases, and brings out passions ( the worst and the best out of both fanbases). To the point that an amazing dancer and artist (  the UCF cheerleader) ends up being ridiculed . I am still looking for the dance tutorial since I bet the ladies will love it next time I am at the club.

    Here is the thing.

The Big 12 are the leftovers that the P2 didn't want.

The ACC still has the schools the P2 wants, plus the leftovers.

There is no reason to think the B12 is superior to the ACC even after the P2 takes the schools they want.

The B12 has lost: Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M

while the ACC has only lost Maryland.

The difference  is the Big 12 has been verry proactive with expansion: The Arizona schools, BYU, Utah, Cincy,....

It will all depend on how many schools the ACC loses.

SMU was in and out of a power conference before we started playing. They've had more time to work their way back ....

And they kind of lucked out with the collapse of the PAC. Who would have thought a few years ago that Stanford and Cal would be in the ACC. Without the ACC adding those teams, and wanting a bridge between the Cal teams and the rest of the ACC, SMU would not have been considered.

A bit of the same way for us that we would likely need the ACC to lose one or both Florida teams for us to be considered

I thought this was going to be a dive into existentialism and if any of us are actually human, does the human experience require touching grass, being in the world and not disconnectedly talking to devices?

Touching grass is so much better in VR.

Honestly I think I'd see it as more lateral than anything else.  On our forums we talk a lot about wanting a Big East invite eventually.   I personally would love to see something in the form of combining something like the AAC and the A10 and having 2 conferences with a promotion/relegation type thing every year.  Completely impossible idea, but it would make the whole thing more fun.

Yes, the Big East would be a good fit for you guys. We as well are hoping for the ACC at some point.

Haha, it's always very confusing when Rams play each other and both teams have chants about Go Rams!.    Also, I come in peace, just to lurk mostly.   If anyone is interested in lurking on our boards it's pretty active and can be found at vcuramnation.com.

I have a huge respect for VCU and how consistent you guys have been as a basketball program. Question for you. If the AAC invited VCU, along with maybe one or two other Atlantic 10 teams to join the conference would you guys see it as an upgrade to the Atlantic 10?

I think an AAC with VCU and perhaps Dayton plus Temple, Wichita State, Memphis, USF,... would be a great conference in basketball.

here's a good place for anyone wishing to talk about tonight's game that will determine who we play in round 2

I'm pulling for VCU so we get a home game since if we win we are definitely on the road next round should we survive.

Has that been confirmed? If that's the case than we definitely want VCU to win.

Personally if I was the AAC I would invite VCU and Dayton into the conference similarly like they did when they invited Wichita State. It would help the AAC reestablish themselves as a premier basketball conference, and would add two tough opponents to our schedule which would help come tournament time.

There is no such thing as a worse situation than the AAC. It is beyond embarrassing that our university has fallen to this level. Every day that we remain associated with this conference further erodes everything we've built.

I could come up with a 100 situations that are worse than being in the AAC. Sun belt, Mac, Conference USA, independent, no program...
