Come on it’s for the kids. You can leave your job every year if you want.

Depends what line of work you are in. If it involves signing a contract that requires you to finish a particular job ( for example, a contract to built a house), or in the NFL, where you sign multi year contracts,.... its different

I am a white guy in my early 40's who doesn't speak Korean, but I am still an aspiring k pop artist, and if I sign a contract with a label, I would have to finish the terms of the contract.

His usf legacy  is 0 fbs wins, 54% chance to complete a pass , 1td:1int ratio, qbr in bottom of college football. His MOJO was ZERO wins and bottom of college football for qbs . If you want to award him some moral victories you can. Marsh and Brown outplayed him. Brown showed last year he was replaceable and a nonfactor on the field. He moved on because he wasn't getting on the field here. I guess we can thank him for mentoring Byrum  and giving him a stage to win and produce on the field.

My argument is not that he is better than Brown or that he is not replaceable. My argument is that he probably would have been a better option to have compared to our current back up QB's.  Again the way the world works the probability of having your starting QB injured at some point is sizable.

And lets not forget its not like he wasn't able to win games; he did so in the Big 12, and it wasn't entirely on him when at USF with the defense we had

Sub 60% competition percentage, 7 tds, 7 interceptions, zero fbs wins, and cost usf a chance to win at florida with a terrible interception. Guy wasn't good enough to win here. He hasn't won an fbs game is over 3 years. Good mentor, qb voice. And maybe a decent coach,  but you can't count on him to win.  Winners win on the score board . Losers make excuses for below average performances.

He had a bad start, but found his mojo as did our offense in his last three games. Defense lost us a bunch of games, offense was decent . Last three games 6 td and 0 interceptions with great rushing stats too.

You have to the look at the totality of his numbers. Bohanon would have been a great option to have as a back up qb

He was inaccurate,  made bad decisions leading to a bad turnover to ratio, and wasn't good enough to beat any fbs teams. His stats put him on the bottom quartile of qbs his year at usf. Every other qb that started had better stats, better throws, and better reads. Marsh and Bb outplayed him during the one year he played. He hasn't been on the field in play in over 1.5 years.  I assume he is going to be a mentor and back up at byu .

He was a great mentor and veteran voice.

Bohanon in his last 3 games before his injury throwing the ball, plus some decent rushing yards as well

The Baylor transfers all have been zero impact Gb,Terry, and Jones. Not surpsued about anyone on the list but the Vandy ol transfer uzebu. Only thing I can think of wilty is a better fit. Several recruits from last class transferring out. I assume it because they want to play and move down the college football ladder. We also brought  in better talent on the recruiting and transfer trail and that maybe pushing some out that want to play.

The way things go for mobile QB's, injuries happen often. It was mind-numbing when looking at other AAC teams, and the amount of QB injuries they had. Bohanon would have been a great option to have had as a back up QB. The back up QB who I assume will be Archie did not show me much last year, albeit in limited time. Maybe Carter?

    ACCFOOTBALLRX.BLOGSPOT.COM

This blog is about ACC Football - past glory, what went wrong, and how to fix it and get back to the glory days again.

    Goes on to say:

For any of this to work, ESPN would have to agree to at least keep the ACC at the same level of media rights fees. "The Dude" suggested that ESPN would renegotiate the ACC contract down, but JRSEC (Auburn fan and CSNBBS moderator) doesn't agree...

[The ACC] won't be taking less. ESPN intends [a brokered settlment] as an invitation [for the ACC] to expand with product they desire. It's their way of saying 'if you help us we'll help you'. If FSU and Clemson depart you stand at 15 plus 1. You pick up South Florida to secure them from the Big 10 for ESPN and you add two to the West to create a division.

I agree with JR. The ACC would be wise to replace FSU with USF immediately, then look to expand back to 18 + Notre Dame -- ideally by poaching high-value "4 Corners" teams - or even the combo of TCU and Kansas - from the Big XII. This would secure the ACC as one of the power conferences - even if it wouldn't be fully equal to the top two.

Interesting, but no way Notre Dame joins the ACC, and the " you pick up South Florida to secure them from the Big 10" is just hilarious

I have a better shot at dating Rihanna, Zendaya, and Jennie Kim at the same time than we do at getting into the Big 10.

ACC and Big 12 ,however, at some point is possible

Supposedly Placer entered the portal because he wanted to play for CAAR. Placer played at least twice each year against CAAR and he torched them in a few games; so CAAR knew what he was getting. Not saying that CAAR would not do the same thing, but I noticed that some of the players that he has picked up were players that he recruited earlier in his career, like Pryor. I remember reading a story about him recruiting him out of high school but he chose Boise State, who pretty much didn't play him.

Sure, no doubt Placer was a known commodity regarding as to what he was getting.

I guess in the end my point regarding the tweet or x, or whatever its called now, is that in this new NIL and transfer portal era both coaches and fans will have to develop a thick skin, and we will lose some and gain some. Coach Rahim will undoubtedly at some point recruit players from other schools that at some point were undervalued or not evaluated correctly, but were able to prove themselves at a lower level. And at that point coaches from those other schools will probably think or say the same thing about us.

While none of this is good for College basketball this is the new reality, and we need to be willing to play ball, and I am sure we will.

  9. 52 minutes ago, panchosanchez99 said:

It's not the same. From his tweet, he states that coaches are passing on players because of their poor evaluation. And now under a different coach in a lesser conference, they suddenly see what they were to ignorant to see because of their poor evaluation skills.

When CAAR took his players from KSU, they were his players that he evaluated and determined they were good to play for him.

I see what you are saying, but at the same time would that mean that if we offer a player now from a lesser conference that had a good year this year, and we didn't offer that player last year, that we didn't evaluate that player correctly? Or is it perhaps that when a player proves himself at a certain level that calls ups to the next level is just part of the new reality?

My point is that when we pick up players through the portal from teams in lower conferences than us, fans of those teams will say the same things about us. Losing players to the NIL sucks, but it cuts both ways, and when we sign good players from other teams ( example, Placer from North Florida) it sucks for those teams as well.

I love this post from CAAR. Quite ballsy! And he is right!

And that is why I always say that each of us has a set of eyes; use them to do your own evaluation. Too many here defer to a coach's decision. And a year ago, many here also criticized the decision to bring in players from the ASUN and junior college. Instead of using your eyes, you just assumed that they were not talented players. They are talented players in all conferences. Things are quite different today than 30 years ago when you could see clear differences in the talent level between conferences. The landscape has changed.

I dont know, but doesn't it negate his point when last year we poached players away from other teams including half his Kennesaw State team.  I really hope behind the scenes we are playing the same poaching game that other schools are playing, and I am sure we are, but at the same time there is no need to complain about it unless you are not willing to engage in same behavior. And we have no choice but to, which means convince good players that play at lower tier teams to come to USF, whether they are currently in the portal or not.

And this is not a critique on Coach Rahim since I am impressed with him, but he has to be willing to play the portal game, and I am sure behind the scenes we are.

If CAAR keeps putting tweets out like he did today, I’d get behind an extension.

i dont know. I hope behind the scenes we as well are trying to poach good players away from "lesser" programs in "lesser" conferences.

Coach Rahim did a great job last year bringing over A Sun talent. I am sure North Florida wasn't happy losing Placer to us. No reason being offended when Power 5 teams go after our players.

My comments aren't about the players that aren't here, it's about where the game is headed.  If you don't like professional sports, it should concern you.

All this kind of feels like growing up in Europe rooting for my smaller local football club ( i think you guys call it socoor or something), where every year the bigger clubs would come in and buy the best players so they could ride the bench at their club.

In the end me rooting for my local club was rooted in my DNA. Same goes for me when it comes to USF. The good news about this NIL thing and player turnover thing, you can get good fast as we showed last year.

    The players aren't coaches...?

The student-athletes are students, at USF (or other institutions) and there to learn enough to obtain a degree and have a chance to be something in their life.  Monetizing student-athletes and creating free agency is the exact opposite of what an educational institution should be doing.  It's not their domain.  It's been said a number of times.  If you want to get paid to play basketball, go play pro ball.  It's a lost cause now, but the NCAA and its member institutions would be far better off modeling integrity and not changing the game as a desperate attempt to have their own highly paid club teams each season.  I don't think this is the mission of a university.  How can any institution of higher learning put education behind pro sports on campus?

Oh, Loyalty, yeah.  Loyalty is to a team, to your teammates.  It's a lost art today.  Now everyone is in it for themselves and for that reason college basketball and football is tainted.

Some will lose interest, others will ***** about not enough money to compete with the Top 10 teams.  Perhaps when there are fewer paid amateur opportunities around the nation for all our wanna be ballers, they'll let the adults back in the room.

But isn't that true for most of us. Haven't most of us in our life times changed jobs? Or left one girl for another?...

I hate how the NIL is affecting us this go around, but at the same time I understand these personal decisions these players made.

  14. 2 hours ago, Brad said:

He's on a contract with a known buyout in a known business.  An adult that creates value.

Billions are being made by sport networks, analysts, companies running commercials during games. universities, the gambling industry, coaches, recruiters, and everyone and everything in between. I am totally fine for players to get a piece of that big money pie. I think players create enormous value. Isn't every school looking for the next great athlete to take their school to the next level. Think Tebow and the Gators, or Brown or other star USF players in the past. We cant forget a lot of players wont make any money playing the sport they love after college due to not being good enough for the pros or injuries they sustained while in school.

I hate that we lost our best players to the NIL, but we just need to figure out how to sign and collect money for the Nil so we can keep our best players and/or sign new ones.

I do believe once we get into the ACC this wont become as big of a problem .

Sorry for the rant but got like 3 hours of sleep over the last 3 days after a crazy Coachella weekend

Yep, in the olden days it used to be 3 or 4 years but now will be 1 or 2 years in some cases. All we can do is keep supporting the name on the front of the jersey as much as we can. Will continue supporting the ones who DO choose to play for USF as long as they're here and not worry or fret about the ones who aren't. If you can and want to give to the NIL, nothing wrong with it (that ******** on Twitter calling people who do give, "idiots", is a moron). When the season begin, Coach Dale says it best ...

Yes, if something came out of the last week for me personally is my goal to contribute to the NIL. We need to play the game.

While, we might have lost 3 of our best players to the NIL, I hope coach Rahim can identify quality players at smaller teams, and bring them over to USF. Find the next Youngblood and Pryor, and find them a a way to get NIL money.. While we might get raided by Power teams, we just need to do the same and raid fellow mid majors, and teams that are considered in leagues below the AAC.

If this is primarily about NIL, which hopefully it is, it's got little to nothing to do with the conference. It's about the relative maturity/size of the donor base ....

I think that is why it would help if NIL numbers were made public. Where do we relate compared to other schools when it comes to NIL money? i think these numbers would help with donations since it could specify monetary goals. And how do we get money to specific players? With huge priority to our top three men's basketball players, and skill position players on our football team.

Would love to know what Youngblood and Pryor will be making at their next  destination, and see if we wouldn't be able to match it with  USF NIL money. I would donate to a NIL fund to keep Youngblood.

Not to mention the gambling sites getting rich off of college sports too.

No doubt College sports is a multi billion dollar industry. From television networks to the gambling industry, to the universities, and everyone and everything in between.

I am totally fine with players getting their fair share of the money pie. The Nil is just something we will have to figure out. If you look at other teams in the AAC, they are also losing players. For now we will just have to restock for next year, and than figure out how to be competitive in the NIL long term. If we can get 300 million plus for an OCS I suspect the donor base is there for NIL money
