Not to mention the gambling sites getting rich off of college sports too.

No doubt College sports is a multi billion dollar industry. From television networks to the gambling industry, to the universities, and everyone and everything in between.

I am totally fine with players getting their fair share of the money pie. The Nil is just something we will have to figure out. If you look at other teams in the AAC, they are also losing players. For now we will just have to restock for next year, and than figure out how to be competitive in the NIL long term. If we can get 300 million plus for an OCS I suspect the donor base is there for NIL money

I wish there was a bit of transparency in the NIL process.  Who is paid what?  At least then I could understand why guys are leaving.  This one and done thing is ridiculous.

Meanwhile, I'm over here with an incoming freshman fighting for financial aid and a spot in the dorm.  Very limited in what merit scholarships she can stack and potentially paying taxes on it too.  The cost of attendance is crazy high (especially compared to what my older children paid for USF).   No one is lining up to pay a mathlete LOL.

I agree. Data regarding how much players make through NIL and who pays them should be publicly available.

These numbers would help us figure out what is going on, and where we are falling short. For example, how much money did Youngblood make last season at USF and how much will he be getting at his new team? What is the difference between what we can pay compared to other teams?

These numbers will help USF with NIL donations since now knowing how donations are being used and who is benefitting from them, I am sure is holding some back from donating towards NIL.

The NIL is something that USF will have to figure out.

    Verry disappointing losing Youngblood.

Agreed. Rule should be you enter the portal and your USF career is over.

Have to make it known no player is bigger than the team.

I don't know if I see it that way. I see it more akin as for example someone who works at a firm and applies for another job; doesn't get the job, or gets the job but then decides to stay put.

Or how is it different, for example for a coach to put his name out in the coaching carousel, willing to jump on a better opportunity, but not get the better job and than staying put?

If Miguel decides to stay at USF and takes his name out of the portal I will see that as a win for USF.

Doesn't it take that long for the little blue pill to kick in for you?  😃

I was just joking about the one hour, and in reality I don't need the blue pill and my body is a fine tuned machine like the world has never seen that can go for 36 hours non stop.  And I am speaking conservatively.

Simply handing money over to an NIL is like buying a high priced hooker. You might get an hours worth of pleasure, but that money is gone. I would set up an endowed fund that would pay in perpetuity, or until whatever new scheme they come along with, then have it roll over to that. Worst case scenario, I think, would be to have it roll in to the general athletic fund.

Wow, an hour, I usually don't last that long.

Wtf does one do with 400m+?

I agree I tell you one thing our department or NIL fund would have no more financial concerns

Oh my god!  I would spend the rest of my life travelling, checking of everything of my bucket list. Wouldn't spend money on big cars, huge mansions, or jewelry. Would have a nice apartment in Vancouver, and one in Tokyo.

I would donate a lot to USF and would earmark it  going to coaches, since well paid quality coaches will be the key to sustained success.

FSU is retarded for wanting out of the ACC. They let ONE year get the best of them and now they look like whining idiots. If it wasn't for FSU and Clemson's tantrum, the ACC is in a much better position than the Big 12. If FSU goes to the SEC, they'll never get to the playoffs again.

With 12 teams making it I would take the wager that they make it to the playoffs as part of the Big10 or SEC within the first 5 years.

The never part is funny since never is a long long time.

I don't know.  The money coming in from the teams exiting the ACC will be a nice reward for those teams that are staying.  UConn, USF and Memphis will move up as soon as offered.  As the B12 is out of their pro rata adds, G5 movement into the B12 is unlikely.

Under the same logic are WSU and OSU happy because the got left behind even though they are probably getting quite a bit of money from the old Pac teams, or would they have rather have been picked up by a top 4 conference? No i believe you try to be in the best possible conference, with the best possible teams and the money will follow. Tv contract can and will always be renegotiated based on value.

Missed this and Hokie Mark's response in the ACC FB blog.

    ACCFOOTBALLRX.BLOGSPOT.COM

This blog is about ACC Football - past glory, what went wrong, and how to fix it and get back to the glory days again.

    Bottom Line

I just don't see any clear-cut advantage for the Big XII over the ACC -- but I do see advantages the other way. Unless an ACC school knows 100% that they will end up in either the Big Ten or the SEC, there's no better alternative than to stay put and wait this out, in my opinion - regardless of the fear-mongering from the Big XII and FSU fans!

I disagree. If you are a lower ACC team, or teams like UConn, USF, Memphis,... the worst possible strategy is staying put and wait it out. If The ACC loses half its team, and you are Syracuse, Virginia Tech type team, and the Big 12 calls you you jump on the opportunity.

Wowwwww. That's so lame. The only issue I have with it is that it's an in conference transfer. Seems pointless to me, not like Penny actually develops players.

If you're going to leave make it a big change not just some other in conference school that's trying to win from brute talent.

I don't know. I feel that going to Memphis from Tulsa is a major step up. Memphis despite a disappointing year is elite and probably the flagship program of the AAC. Tulsa is the exact opposite of that.

    Enjoy your K-pop now!

The Korean birth rate is so low that now for every 100 Koreans there will be an average of 5 great grandchildren.

That is a worldwide trend. You see the same all over the world. I am part of that new generation where people no longer are pressured to marry and have children. More and more of us are deciding not to have children. I think this is a positive trend.

18 is really young. Their judgment is not where it needs to be to make certain decisions. I don't know if you recall the dumb things you did at 18, but I do.

And it's really not a question of education or a class on financial literacy. It's a judgment call, they lack the wisdom.

Add to that, there are a lot of scammers and universities that will take your money and give you a useless degree.  It's a feeding frenzy.

When I was in the army there were all these rent to own places and used car lots that would lock these unprepared 18-year-olds into upside down loans on cars and furniture. The interest rates could be as high as 25%

I tend to agree with what you are saying. A student goes to school and takes out loans and sees it as an investment. When people are young they have big dreams. They enter school with a dream for a future career. When they exit school reality sets in regarding real world pay, job opportunities, high cost of living, insurance, and interest rates.

Personally i wouldn't gripe young people making these financial decisions regarding education.
